The Let Doctors Provide Reproductive Health Care Act would protect healthcare providers' ability to deliver reproductive health services including abortion, contraception, in vitro fertilization, and related care that is legal in their state. The bill prohibits states and individuals from preventing or restricting these services and allows healthcare workers like doctors, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists to provide care without facing legal obstacles based on their involvement in reproductive medicine. The legislation establishes enforcement mechanisms through federal lawsuits by the Attorney General and private lawsuits by affected healthcare providers, patients, or entities, with courts able to award attorney's fees and costs to prevailing plaintiffs. The bill also appropriates $40 million for legal defense funds to help reproductive healthcare providers with legal issues and $40 million for security grants to clinics and healthcare facilities offering these services. Additionally, it prevents insurance companies from denying professional liability coverage to healthcare providers solely because they offer lawful reproductive health services.
