The legislation establishes a coordinator position within the Domestic Policy Council to oversee these efforts and specifically work to integrate AI tools into the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative to improve clinical trial design, data analysis, and patient outcomes. The bill requires the federal government to develop interoperability standards that allow patient health data to be safely shared and used with AI systems while protecting patient privacy and giving individuals control over their information. The legislation authorizes funding of up to one hundred million dollars annually from 2027 through 2031 specifically for the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative work, plus additional unspecified funding for the broader coordination efforts. Within 180 days of the law's enactment, the Secretary of Health and Human Services must report to Congress on the implementation progress.
