The AIR CARE for Vets Act of 2026 directs the Department of Veterans Affairs to establish a five-year pilot program using advanced four-dimensional lung imaging software to identify respiratory disorders and lung disease in veterans. The VA Secretary will lease this FDA-approved imaging technology from qualified companies and deploy it at VA medical facilities to improve detection and diagnosis of lung conditions among veterans receiving care. The program is authorized to receive up to five million dollars annually from 2027 through 2031 to cover the costs of leasing and operating the software. Within two years after the pilot program ends, the VA must report to Congress on the program's effectiveness in identifying respiratory issues and improving veteran health outcomes. This initiative aims to leverage cutting-edge diagnostic technology to better serve veterans with respiratory health concerns.
