The Protecting America's Food Supply Act of 2026 directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to assess the safety of food products imported into the United States from foreign facilities. The assessment will evaluate public health risks by country of origin, review the history of safety violations and recalls, track import volumes, and examine coordination between U.S. and foreign regulators during inspections. Within one year of enactment, the Secretary must publish findings on a publicly accessible website, including inspection targets, actual inspection numbers, trends by commodity and country, and whether FDA inspections comply with the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act. The published information must be updated on an ongoing basis. This bill affects food importers, foreign food producers, the FDA, and ultimately American consumers who depend on safe imported food products.
