This bill establishes a comprehensive cybersecurity program for K-12 schools through the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. The legislation creates three main initiatives: a publicly accessible website called the School Cybersecurity Information Exchange that shares best practices and funding opportunities tailored to schools' needs; a voluntary registry for schools to report cyberattacks that will be analyzed to identify trends and improve prevention strategies; and a K-12 Cybersecurity Technology Improvement Program that deploys cybersecurity tools, services, and training directly to elementary and secondary schools. The bill authorizes $10 million in funding for each of fiscal years 2027 and 2028 to support these efforts. All schools, school districts, and educational service agencies are eligible to benefit from these programs, which aim to protect student data, prevent ransomware attacks, and help schools develop strategies to defend their computer systems.
