The Winner

If you live in Maryland's 6th U.S. House District, you will continue to be represented in Congress by Delaney, who has been declared the winner of the congressional race, according to The Associated Press. The Associated Press called the race on Nov. 3.

According to unofficial results from the Maryland State Board of Elections as of Nov. 4, McClain Delaney received 133,881 votes, or 56.23%, defeating Republican Robin Ficker, who received 97,242 votes, or 40.84%, and Green Party candidate Moshe Landman, who received 6,399 votes, or 2.69%. McClain Delaney led Ficker by 36,639 votes, or approximately 15.4 percentage points.

The win came as Democrats regained control of the U.S. House of Representatives, giving them greater oversight authority over the Trump administration and control of the legislative agenda beginning in January.

The Race

Robin Ficker was the Republican nominee, having won his party's June 23, 2026, primary with about 41.8 percent of the vote, roughly 4.4 points ahead of second-place Chris Burnett. Cook Political Report and Inside Elections each rated the seat Solid Democratic heading into Election Day, according to their published ratings.

The district covers Allegany, Garrett and Washington counties, plus parts of Frederick and Montgomery counties, according to the U.S. Census Bureau; Geographies data for the district puts the total population at about 796,700, with a median household income of about $102,600 and a median age of about 39.4. About 40.8 percent of adults hold a bachelor's degree or higher, the district is about 60.7 percent white, 14.3 percent Hispanic, 12.7 percent Black and 9.2 percent Asian, and the unemployment rate stands at about 4.1 percent, with about 9 percent of residents living below the poverty line.

Moshe Landman ran as the Green Party nominee, having been the only candidate in that party's June 23 primary.

What's Next

McClain Delaney is set to take office on Jan. 3, 2027, as established by the 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The general election results are still being counted and have not yet been certified by the Maryland State Board of Elections, so vote totals and shares may change before they are made official.
