Who's In the Race

Democrat incumbent Governor Ned Lamont faces Republican Ryan Fazio in Connecticut's governor's race on Nov. 3. Lamont has held the office since 2019, making him one of the longer-serving governors in the state's recent history.

Endorsements

Democratic nominee Ned Lamont has drawn endorsements from statewide officials, including Erick Russell, Sean Scanlon, and William Tong.

Meanwhile, statewide official Betsy McCaughey has endorsed Fazio. Fazio also received the endorsement of the Independent Party of Connecticut for the general election, giving him cross-party ballot support.

Race Outlook: Ratings and Polling

All four major rating services call this race solidly in Lamont's favor. Cook Political Report rated the race Solid Democratic, updated Oct. 28; Sabato's Crystal Ball also rated it Solid Democratic, updated Oct. 28; Inside Elections rated it Solid Democratic, updated Oct. 23; and the consensus rating is Solid Democratic, updated Oct. 23.

Polling aggregated by Legis1 through Oct. 14 showed Lamont leading Fazio 55% to 37%, a margin of 18 points. That lead is 3.6 points wider than the margin by which Connecticut backed Kamala Harris over Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race, suggesting Lamont is running ahead of his party's recent statewide baseline. For Fazio to close an 18-point gap in the final weeks, he would need a shift in the race with no recent precedent in Connecticut statewide polling.

Previous Elections

In the 2024 presidential election, Connecticut backed Democrat Kamala Harris with 56% of the vote, compared to 42% for Republican Donald Trump.

Statewide, Lamont won the Connecticut governor's race in 2022 with about 56% of the vote, defeating Republican Bob Stefanowski.
