The Harlem-based incumbent pulled in $1.65 million from individual donors and $414,975 from political committees. He reported no loans and no party contributions, ending the most recent reporting period with $963,434 in cash on hand after spending $1.54 million so far this cycle.

Espaillat's $2.1 million total comes from two main sources: individual contributors ($1.65 million) and other political committees ($414,975). Transfers from authorized committees added another $34,708. He began the cycle with $396,425 in the bank.

Individual giving has grown sharply over time. Donors gave $544,543 in the full 2020 cycle. That figure rose to $854,822 in 2022 and $996,539 in 2024. The current 2026 cycle total of $1.65 million, with months still to go, already surpasses all previous full-cycle totals.

PAC and Organizational Contributors

Committee contributions account for roughly 20% of Espaillat's 2026 haul. The $414,975 from political action committees and other committees is consistent with his recent fundraising history: $364,730 in 2024, $406,400 in 2022, and $315,680 in 2020.

No outside spending either in support of or in opposition to Espaillat appears in the FEC 2026 election spending data for this race. Outside spending in politics can play a significant role in competitive contests, but none has been reported here.

New York's congressional candidates have combined for $799.3 million in total receipts this cycle, one of the largest statewide aggregates in the country. Espaillat's $2.1 million represents roughly 0.3% of that total.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D, District 14) at $31.1 million, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D, District 8) at $14.0 million, and challenger Peter Chatzky (D, District 17) at $11.7 million. Espaillat ranks 26th among all New York candidates in total receipts.

The cash-on-hand gap between the top fundraisers and Espaillat is significant. Ocasio-Cortez holds $15.9 million in reserves. Jeffries holds $4.9 million. Espaillat's $963,434 reflects his position in a safe Democratic district where large war chests are less of a necessity.

Election finance data from the 2026 cycle shows a familiar pattern in New York: incumbents generally hold a financial edge over challengers and open-seat candidates.

Among the 123 candidates in the FEC data for New York House races, Democrats fielded 87 candidates who raised a combined $147.9 million. Republicans fielded 29 candidates who raised $38.8 million. Independents and third-party candidates raised a combined $105,979.

Espaillat, as an incumbent, fits the broader pattern. His nearly $1 million cash reserve compares favorably to most challengers in the state. His lone declared opponent in the 13th District, Democrat Darializa Avila Chevalier, has raised $929,685 (less than half of Espaillat's total) and holds $229,817 in cash on hand, a gap of more than $733,000 heading into the 2026 campaign season.
