Who's In the Race
Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL) faces Republican Carl Lambrecht in the Nov. 3 general election in Illinois's 10th District.
Schneider has represented the 10th District since 2013 and spent nearly three decades in business, principally in management consulting, before serving in Congress. He won the Democratic primary on March 17 with about 80 percent of the vote over Morgan Coghill. Lambrecht's background includes work as an optics manufacturer. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary.
What They Stand For
Schneider has proposed fixing the immigration system to "grow our economy, reduce our debt, and strengthen our communities," calling for a bipartisan effort, according to his official House website. He's also supported:
- Reducing gun violence with "commonsense action" while protecting Second Amendment rights, per his House website;
- Making life more affordable and protecting Social Security and Medicare, according to his campaign website; and
- Protecting a woman's right to choose, according to his campaign website.
Lambrecht's campaign has no website on file with the Illinois State Board of Elections, and no policy positions were available from public sources.
