The Vote
One of the busiest federal districts in the country will soon have a new judge. Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) voted on June 24 to confirm John George Edward Marck as judge to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He's known for his position as former Assistant District Attorney in New York City, and as a prosecutor of cases involving illegal reentry after deportation and cartel-related crimes. The Senate confirmation vote fell almost entirely along party lines, and the nomination passed.
- Republicans: 52 Yes, 0 No, 1 not voting
- Democrats: 0 Yes, 43 No, 2 not voting
- Independents: 0 Yes, 2 No
Sullivan voted with his party. He did not break ranks.
Sullivan has served in the Senate since 2015. He has missed 20 votes this Congress, but zero votes since April.
