The Winner

If you live in Florida’s 3rd Congressional District, Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) will represent you for a fourth term. The Associated Press called the race for Cammack just after 8:30 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, Nov. 3, with Cammack winning about 54% of the vote, WUFT reported.

Cammack beat Democrat Seth Harp), a sixth-grade civics teacher, and independent Mike Klein. The result keeps the seat in Republican hands.

The Race

Harp won the Aug. 18 Democratic primary over a field that included Tom Wells, whom Cammack beat 61.6% to 38.4% in 2024. Cammack had no Republican opponent, FOX 35 reported. Cook Political Report and Inside Elections rated the race Solid Republican, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball rated it Safe Republican, according to Ballotpedia’s race page.

The district takes in all or part of 12 North Central Florida counties, including Alachua, Columbia, Marion and Suwannee, WUFT reported. About 798,000 people live there, and the typical household earns about $61,000 a year. About 29% of adults hold at least a bachelor’s degree.

About 68% of residents are white, about 16% are Black, about 13% are Hispanic and about 3% are Asian. The unemployment rate is about 5%, and about 18% of residents live below the poverty line.

What’s Next

Cammack’s fourth term begins Jan. 3, 2027, and the results stay unofficial until Florida certifies them. In Congress, she chairs the Republican Study Committee’s Emerging Technologies Task Force, which covers artificial intelligence, blockchain and biotechnology and which she launched in April 2025.
