The Winner

John Mannion (D) won New York's 22nd U.S. House District race on Nov. 3, according to the Associated Press. The general election stage lists six candidates, and vote totals had not yet been certified as of publication, so precise vote shares and margins are not available. The seat stays in Democratic hands.

Mannion was the incumbent heading into the race, having previously won the seat in 2024. His Republican opponent was Kailee Buller, who advanced through the Republican primary on June 23 to reach the general election ballot.

The Race

Cook Political Report rated the race Likely Democratic heading into Election Day, and Inside Elections rated it Likely Democratic as well. The consensus rating from all three major pre-election raters was Solid Democratic as of Nov. 3.

The district has about 767,400 residents, a median household income of about $73,800, a median age of about 39.9, and roughly 35.6 percent of adults hold a bachelor's degree or higher.

What's Next

Mannion is set to take office on Jan. 3, 2027. Restoring federal health care funding would be one of his priorities in the upcoming term, Mannion said, as CNY Central reported on Nov. 4.
