Who's In the Race
Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH) and Democratic challenger Vanessa L Enoch are facing off in Ohio's 8th Congressional District, their fifth matchup.
Davidson has represented the district since 2016, having served as an Army infantry officer before earning an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and spending 15 years building Ohio manufacturing companies.
Enoch is a public-policy and management-and-technology consultant who has led Cultural Impact, a consulting firm, for more than 25 years, and holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from Union Institute & University.
What They Stand For
According to his official House website, Davidson has supported cutting regulations to strengthen Ohio jobs, manufacturing, and economic growth, and has advocated for lowering health-care costs while expanding patient options. He has called for securing the border and enforcing immigration law, reining in government spending to restore fiscal discipline, and defending life, parental rights, and strong families.
According to her campaign website, Enoch has proposed empowering Medicare and Medicaid to negotiate drug prices, capping out-of-pocket costs, and investing in community clinics and preventive care. She has supported changing land-use rules and investing in mixed-income housing so that workers such as teachers, nurses, and firefighters can afford to live near their workplaces. Her platform has called for raising the minimum wage and investing in education and child care. She has also proposed that data centers pay for the power-grid upgrades they require, rather than shifting those costs onto household electric bills, and that their effects on water, air, noise, and farmland be addressed.
The Money Behind the Race
Davidson raised about $661,000 through June 30 and had about $530,000 in the bank, according to Federal Election Commission filings. Enoch reported no receipts through June 30 and had about $2,987 in cash on hand, FEC filings show.
