Who's In the Race
Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA) faces Democrat Nancy Mannion, along with two additional candidates, in the Nov. 3 general election in Pennsylvania's 11th District.
Smucker has represented Pennsylvania's 11th District in the U.S. House since 2017, previously served two terms in the Pennsylvania State Senate, and owned and operated the Smucker Company for 25 years, growing it to more than 150 employees. Both Smucker and Mannion ran unopposed in their May 19 primaries. Mannion is a registered nurse with more than 40 years of experience in health care, and her campaign describes her as an international health-care leader.
What They Stand For
Smucker has proposed fixing what he calls Washington's broken budget process, according to his official House website. He's also supported reducing federal spending, describing the national debt as unsustainable, pro-life measures, Second Amendment rights, and religious liberty, and legislation combining spending reductions with border security measures.
Mannion has proposed expanding the child tax credit to make raising a family more affordable, according to her campaign website. She's also supported raising the federal minimum wage to provide workers with a living wage, increasing the supply of affordable housing, and fighting for affordable health care, strong public education, and workforce development.
The Money Behind the Race
Smucker raised about $1.5 million through June 30, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings, and had about $811,000 in the bank. Mannion raised about $214,000 through June 30 and had about $47,000 cash on hand, according to FEC filings.
