The Winner

If you live in Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District, the person representing you in Congress isn’t changing. Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) won a second term on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and the Associated Press called the race for her on election night, KJZZ reported.

Ansari had 87.1% of the vote in the latest unofficial count, more than 80 points ahead of her closest challenger, according to Ballotpedia’s results for the race. The win keeps the seat in Democratic hands.

The Race

Ansari beat three challengers: No Labels Party candidate Alan Aversa with 6.0%, Green Party candidate David Redkeywith 4.8% and Republican write-in candidate Jacob Parkman with 1.3%. The district covers most of southern, western and downtown Phoenix, plus a small part of Glendale, FOX 10 Phoenix reported.

The forecasters never saw a contest here. Cook Political Report and Inside Elections rated the race Solid Democratic, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball rated it Safe Democratic.

What’s Next

Ansari’s new term begins Jan. 3, 2027, the date the Constitution sets for every new House term. Arizona is still counting ballots, so the totals will change before the state certifies the results. The seat is on the ballot again in 2028.
