Line 4a - first achievement social services grants support basic needs, such as food, clothing, shelter, and other aid for indigent, low income, and other underserved populations. The primary AREA is food to the poor through organized food bank programs. Grants to enhance technology, economies of scale and new partnerships have enabled food banks to meet increased demand for food to those most in need. Special attention has been given to children through kids CAFE and backpack programs and to the rural poor through rural pantry programs. The remaining grants in this AREA are fund awards for emergency care for at risk populations served by churches.
