For too long, the unfair $10,000 SALT cap punished hardworking families on Long Island. That's why I stood firm alongside my New York colleagues and kept fighting until we secured an increase to $40,000. This was a major win for Long Island taxpayers, and I'm proud we delivered on our promise to provide real tax relief.
Congratulations to Long Island’s MacArthur Airport on being named the #1 Best Small Airport in America by USA Today. https://t.co/ZJQkTOORl2
MacArthur is a vital part of Long Island's transportation infrastructure and local economy. I've been proud to support investments in the airport, including securing nearly $3 million in federal funding for runway and airfield improvements and supporting the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to help modernize airports across New York. I'm proud to have such a great airport right here in NY-02!
Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Navy! For 251 years, the men and women of the U.S. Navy have stepped up to defend our country. Today, we recognize the generations of sailors who have answered the call to serve and thank those who continue to wear the uniform. Thank you for your service!
My thoughts and prayers are with the Suffolk County Police Department and the family, friends, and fellow officers mourning the loss of one of their own. May they find strength during this incredibly difficult time. https://t.co/hWApdjm0yV
Happy Columbus Day! As a proud Italian American, today is an opportunity to celebrate our heritage and the generations of Italian Americans who have contributed so much to Long Island and our country. https://t.co/Kju3IHBp8C
For so many families, Columbus Day is a celebration of heritage, family, faith, hard work, and the traditions passed down from one generation to the next. Wishing everyone across Long Island a happy Columbus Day! https://t.co/nNc01a6O2R
I have helped deliver real results for Long Island, from securing funding for the World Trade Center Health Program to fighting to restore critical counterterrorism funding for our first responders & raising the SALT deduction to $40,000. I’ll keep putting Long Islanders first. https://t.co/vexlBrMvrU
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ahead of Columbus Day, Congressman Andrew R. Garbarino (NY-02), Vice Chair of the Italian American Congressional Delegation, is recognizing the generations of Italian Americans who have helped shape Long Island and communities across the country. Garbarino is also highlighting his resolution, H.Res. 789, which expresses support for the recognition of Christopher Columbus and his impact on the Italian-American community and recognizes the second Monday in October as Columbus Day. “Growing up on Long Island in an Italian-American family, Columbus Day has always been an opportunity to celebrate our heritage and honor the generations who came before us,” said Rep. Garbarino. “Italian Americans have played an enormous role in shaping Long Island into the place we are proud to call home, which can be seen in our small businesses, neighborhoods, and communities across the Island. I am proud to stand up for the recognition of Columbus Day and what it means to so many families across our country.” In October 2025, Garbarino introduced H.Res. 789, a resolution reaffirming the importance of Columbus Day and recognizing Christopher Columbus's historical significance to the Italian-American community. The resolution highlights the holiday's longstanding role in celebrating Italian-American heritage and recognizing the contributions of Italian immigrants and their descendants to the United States. As Vice Chair of the Italian American Congressional Delegation, Garbarino remains committed to ensuring that the community's history and contributions continue to be recognized. ###
Great meeting with leaders from Touro Law Center to hear about their Small Business Legal Assistance Clinic. I was proud to support federal funding for this program, which provides free legal assistance to Long Island small businesses while giving law students valuable hands-on experience.
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. As Chairman of @HomelandGOP and former Chairman of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Subcommittee, I’ve worked to strengthen our nation’s cyber defenses and ensure we are prepared to combat emerging threats. Cyber threats are constantly evolving, and we must stay one step ahead.
Three years ago, Hamas carried out the deadliest attack against the Jewish people since the Holocaust, taking the lives of over 1,200 innocent people, kidnapping innocent men, women, and children, including Americans, and inflicting unimaginable pain on communities in Israel and around the world. On this anniversary, we not only remember the victims of October 7th but reaffirm our commitment to support Israel, confront antisemitism, and remain vigilant against the terrorism it inspires.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andrew R. Garbarino (NY-02), Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement marking three years since the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks against Israel: “Three years ago, Hamas carried out the deadliest attack against the Jewish people since the Holocaust, taking the lives of over 1,200 innocent people, kidnapping innocent men, women, and children, including Americans, and inflicting unimaginable pain on communities in Israel and around the world. The October 7th attacks reshaped the global terror threat landscape. As Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, I remain focused on ensuring our law enforcement, intelligence, and homeland security agencies have the resources and information they need to identify evolving threats and protect the American people. On this anniversary, we not only remember the victims of October 7th but reaffirm our commitment to support Israel, confront antisemitism, and remain vigilant against the terrorism it inspires.” Congressman Garbarino has remained a strong supporter of Israel and has worked to strengthen U.S. national security in the face of evolving terrorist threats. As Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, he has focused on the threats posed by foreign terrorist organizations, the potential for terrorist activity to inspire violence in the United States, and ensuring federal, state, and local law enforcement have the tools necessary to keep Americans safe. ###

Incredible work by the law enforcement officers and partner organizations who helped locate 34 missing children across Long Island and New York City. https://t.co/da5lecUtCX
As Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, I’m grateful to the federal, state, and local law enforcement partners who worked together to bring these kids to safety. This is what strong coordination and a shared commitment to protecting our communities looks like.
In Congress, I’m proud to have introduced the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act to help ensure those living with metastatic breast cancer can access the care and support they need without unnecessary delays. This month and always, we remain committed to supporting patients, families, and the continued fight against breast cancer.
October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to stand with those battling breast cancer, honor survivors, remember those we have lost, and support the families and loved ones impacted by this disease. https://t.co/VuVZl0qU9u
The men and women who served our country deserve a system that learns from every tragedy and does everything possible to prevent the next one.
As Suicide Prevention Awareness Month comes to a close, we must continue working to better understand and prevent veteran suicide. That’s why I introduced the bipartisan Veteran Suicide Prevention Act. This legislation would require the VA to examine veteran suicides and identify trends that can help us better understand where our system is falling short.
Happy 83rd birthday to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy! Kings Point has a proud history of preparing generations of mariners to serve our country and strengthen our national security. I’m proud to support its future through the Merchant Marine Academy Modernization Act and will keep working to ensure the Academy has the resources and facilities it needs for generations to come.
Here's what I've delivered for you: $40K SALT relief for Long Island homeowners. 20 bipartisan Homeland Security bills advanced. No tax on your tips. No tax on your overtime. Standing up for law enforcement, every single time. Make your plan to vote on November 3rd. https://t.co/uTy99oyX1u
For the latest weather alerts and forecasts from the National Weather Service: https://t.co/otFCQGDXJY For storm preparedness and safety information: https://t.co/41UWXM0TNy To report or check a PSEG Long Island power outage: https://t.co/oN0hUeeo5O Please stay safe and continue to take this storm seriously as it moves through Long Island.
Long Islanders should continue to use caution today and tomorrow as this coastal storm brings heavy rain, strong winds, and the potential for coastal flooding across our area. Please avoid flooded roadways, secure any loose outdoor items, and be prepared for possible power outages. If you live in a flood-prone or coastal area, continue monitoring local emergency alerts and guidance from officials.
One year as Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security. Twenty bills advanced. A FIFA World Cup secured. Cyberthreats confronted. The 9/11 promise kept. I didn't go to Washington to make headlines. I went to get things done for Long Island, our families and our safety. https://t.co/ew6XM1oWOj
