Families deserve clean drinking water and Volunteer firefighters deserve stations that help them respond quickly and work safely. Yesterday, I met with local leaders and firefighters in Hebron, Delmar, and Sharptown to discuss the $7.8 million I fought to secure in House-passed bills for water line replacements and fire station improvements. Now I’m urging the Senate to pass these bills and deliver for our families and firefighters. https://t.co/29vVWfkZ4p
Sharptown’s volunteer firefighters put their lives on the line for their neighbors. They deserve a station with the space to house their equipment and prepare safely for emergencies. Yesterday, I visited the department to discuss the $3 million I fought to secure in the House-passed FY27 Agriculture funding bill for an engine bay addition and renovations to a station last updated in 1970. These improvements would give firefighters more room to work and help the station meet the demands of today’s emergency response. I’m urging the Senate to pass this bill and deliver for the volunteer firefighters who do so much to protect Sharptown.
Happy 251st birthday to the United States Navy! Having personally served in the Navy Reserve, this birthday means a great deal to me. Thank you to the men and women serving today. For 251 years, sailors have risked their lives to defend our country. Today, I honor those serving and the families who endure long deployments, missed holidays, and time apart.
Happy Columbus Day! https://t.co/MbnDErCjfW
Our farmers here in Maryland’s First District put in long hours raising poultry and growing corn, soybeans, and feed crops that help feed Maryland and our country. It’s demanding work, and the people doing it deserve our thanks and respect. On National Farmer’s Day, I’m proud to represent them. As Chairman of the Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee, I take seriously my responsibility to fight for Maryland farmers and the families whose livelihoods depend on farming.
Need help with a federal agency? Whether you’re waiting on a passport, having trouble with Social Security or Medicare, or need help with VA benefits or an IRS issue, my team is ready to help. https://t.co/oUH6dCRzrs
Today marks three years since the horrific October 7 terrorist attacks on Israel. More than 1,200 innocent men, women, and children were brutally murdered by Hamas, and hundreds more were taken hostage in the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. We remember and honor every life taken that day and keep their families and loved ones in our prayers. The United States stands firmly with Israel and the Jewish people. We will never forget.
Last week, I joined the Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company to break ground on its new fire station. I fought to secure $9 million for the new station and ladder truck so Middle River has the resources it needs. I’ll keep fighting to make sure areas like Middle River are never forgotten. https://t.co/NIc4me4Mt8
Illegal vapes from China are flooding our country, including flavored products targeting children. Worse, the profits bankroll the Chinese Communist Party and criminal cartels. I worked to advance $200 million in the House-passed Agriculture-FDA funding bill to crack down on this illicit trade. I’m urging the Senate to join me in this effort so federal agencies have the resources to act. https://t.co/coTmy0ZPh1
WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01), Chairman of the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Subcommittee on Appropriations, called on the Senate to support the House-passed initiatives in its Fiscal Year 2027 appropriations bills to give the federal agencies the resources they need to shut down the illicit nicotine marketplace, including vapes and e-cigarette products designed to appeal to children, and protect Americans from these dangerous products. “Illegal vapes from China continue to make their way onto shelves and into the hands of unsuspecting Americans,” said Rep. Harris. “The House passed the Fiscal Year 2027 Agriculture Appropriations Act this summer, and I urge the Senate to move forward with its appropriations bills so we can strengthen enforcement against these illegal products.” The House-passed Agriculture-FDA bill directs FDA to dedicate at least $200 million in tobacco user fees to enforcement against illegal e-cigarettes and vapes. That includes $20 million for the ENDS Enforcement Task Force, a joint effort of the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, and FDA to target the illegal manufacture, importation, distribution, and sale of these products, a majority of which are produced in China. The bill also directs FDA to expand its enforcement priorities to flavored disposable vapes and to report regularly to Congress on seizures of illicit products, support for state enforcement, and efforts to educate retailers about which products are legal to sell. The Agriculture-FDA bill is one part of a whole-of-government strategy House appropriators have advanced this year. Across five other FY2027 bills, the Appropriations Committee has directed the Department of Justice to lead the ENDS Enforcement Task Force and pursue trade fraud, smuggling, and money laundering cases against illicit importers. It has provided $5 million each to Customs and Border Protection for the task force and to Homeland Security Investigations for criminal investigations into illegal imports. It has also directed Treasury and the State Department to disrupt the financial networks behind the trade, directed the U.S. Trade Representative to seek an enforceable agreement with China to stop illicit exports at the source, and directed the Department of Transportation to crack down on mislabeled lithium-battery vapes shipped on passenger and cargo aircraft. “This has become a national security problem,” said Rep. Harris. “Illegal vapes put money in the pockets of the Chinese Communist Party and the criminal cartels operating inside our borders. House appropriators have given every agency with a role in stopping this trade clear direction and the resources to act, and now those resources need to be put to work.” “Responsible retailers are at a competitive disadvantage as long as bad actors continue to sell illicit products,” said Margaret Mannion, director of government relations at the National Association of Convenience Stores. “The convenience industry supports every effort to stop the flood of illegal vapes onto our market, and we applaud Chairman Harris’s support for enhanced federal enforcement against illicit tobacco products. American consumers deserve access to authorized, legal products, and it will take coordinated action across government, like the work of the ENDS Enforcement Task Force, to make that happen. There’s no time to waste.” “I will continue fighting to stop the flow of illegal vapes into our country and give FDA and federal law enforcement the resources they need to crack down on this illicit trade,” said Rep. Harris. “Foreign bad actors, especially China, should not be able to profit from flooding the American market with illegal flavored disposable vapes that are designed to appeal to children.”
Yesterday, I joined Delegate Ryan Nawrocki to break ground on the Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company’s new fire station. This is exactly what I fought to deliver $9 million in federal funding for: a new station and ladder truck that will strengthen emergency response in Middle River for years to come. Proud to deliver for the firefighters who serve Middle River every day.
I agree. Kratom and its derivatives are dangerous. This poison is being falsely marketed as a supplement when, in reality, it’s a dangerous drug killing children and destroying the lives of so many families. FDA and DEA need to act NOW.
I joined Aberdeen Mayor Patrick McGrady at the Swan Meadows Water and Sewer Project for an update on the work planned for the community. I secured $2 million in federal funding to move this project forward and address water and sewer infrastructure needs in Swan Meadows. Great to see the progress firsthand and hear what comes next for the project.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Hyde Amendment. In 1976, Congressman Henry Hyde led the effort in Congress to stop federal taxpayer dollars from paying for abortions. For five decades, that protection has remained in place, making Hyde one of the most consequential pro-Life policies in our nation’s history. Every unborn Life has inherent dignity and value.
Smaller towns like Easton don’t always have the resources of larger jurisdictions to fund major water infrastructure projects. That’s why I secured and delivered $2.6 million in federal funding for Easton Utilities’ new drinking water well and pump house, bringing another source of clean drinking water to the community. https://t.co/G7mxtcrmxK
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) discussed restoring Ocean City’s beach following this weekend’s severe weather with Colonel Francis B. Pera, Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore District, yesterday. Harris also applauded the Army Corps’ newly awarded $25.7 million contract to reconstruct the Atlantic Coast of Maryland berm in Ocean City. Statement from Congressman Harris: “I spoke directly with Army Corps Baltimore District Commander Colonel Pera about restoring Ocean City’s beach following this weekend’s storm, and I applaud the new $25.7 million contract for the town’s berm reconstruction. This funding will help Ocean City recover from the storm and prepare for future storms.”
The Army Corps has awarded a $25.7 million contract to replenish Ocean City’s beach and reconstruct the berm following this weekend’s nor’easter. I spoke directly with Colonel Pera about restoring the beach, and the work ahead is clear: get Ocean City’s beach restored and ready for next year’s season. https://t.co/jjYAoF8yZA
Great to be in Easton today to break ground on Easton Utilities’ new drinking water well and pump house. Easton’s water system serves thousands of customers, as well as the new University of Maryland Shore Regional Medical Center. I’m proud to have secured $2.625 million in federal funding for this project, adding another source of clean drinking water for Easton.
“In a rural district like mine, everyone’s affected by a rising fuel price.” I spoke with OC Today-Dispatch about my bill to temporarily suspend the federal gas and diesel taxes through the end of the year and provide relief for families, farmers, and businesses across Maryland’s First District. https://t.co/vUfqAPOovq

🚨 REMINDER 🚨 The House passed the SAVE AMERICA ACT SIX TIMES. Yet, we're still waiting on the Senate to pass it. What are they waiting for? Step up and Fight for America.
This is sickening. An illegal alien released into the country under the Biden Administration is now accused of raping a teenage girl while working as a rideshare driver in Maryland. This is exactly why DHS and ICE are removing criminal illegal aliens from our communities. No American, especially a child, should ever be put in this kind of danger. https://t.co/GcrkPHa4o9
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01), announced the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) will receive $2,131,929 in federal funding through the Supplemental HBCU Mandatory Grants program. Statement from Congressman Harris: “UMES has a long history of educating students on the Eastern Shore and preparing graduates for careers in Maryland and across the country. This $2.1 million in funding will strengthen academic programs and provide additional resources for students.” The funding is provided through the U.S. Department of Education’s Supplemental HBCU Mandatory Grants program, which provides federal funding to Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Maryland gas prices are now averaging $4.22 a gallon. Families need relief at the pump. That’s why I introduced legislation to temporarily suspend the federal gas and diesel taxes through the end of the year. Congress needs to get this done and let Marylanders keep more of their hard earned money. https://t.co/fP0SEhDYXd
