A true leader delivers support and funds to the communities they serve and who look up to them, regardless of zip code or state line. Politicizing the release of emergency funds to help recover from a natural disaster is extremely dangerous and morally wrong. I stand with Governor Pritzker and my Illinois Congressional colleagues in calling out this attack on our communities, and we will continue to work together to find avenues to deliver the relief and support our shared constituents need and deserve to rebuild and recover.

Donald Trump continues to weaponize the Department of Justice, breaking norms and threatening the constitutional protections we used to take for granted. We know the DOJ does nothing without Trump’s say-so. Now, less than 30 days out from an election, he’s had the home of an elected official raided. This raid raises serious questions about legality and intent and how far this Administration will go to punish and persecute anyone it sees as its enemy. Trump’s actions are what we expect from a 2-bit dictator, not the leader of the greatest nation in the world, and a country that others once looked up to. Democrats are ready to hold this Administration accountable for the culture of corruption and recklessness that has permeated our institutions and threatened the health of our democracy. https://t.co/7bezGoOPdb

Since before we became an independent nation, the US Navy has been protection for our people and our country. I’m proud to represent Naval Station Great Lakes, the Quarterdeck of the Navy, where generations of recruits have become sailors and begun their service to our nation.

Nearly five years since the start of Russia’s unprovoked, illegal war against Ukraine, President Trump inexplicably continues to side with Putin and his anti-democracy agenda. Trump has had the power to impose sanctions on Russia and bring an end this war. He has chosen to do neither. Now, as diesel prices in the U.S. shoot up over $6 a gallon, the President is filling Putin’s coffers by lifting sanctions and allowing the United States to buy Russian diesel. I will work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to block Trump’s purchases of Russian oil and stand with Ukraine in its fight for independence, sovereignty, and the West’s security.

I’ve long called out Pete Hegseth’s unbridled incompetence and idiocy, but his blood lust rises to a new level. His reprehensible plan to livestream a public execution is a ready-made recruiting tool for our enemies, whether it’s ISIS, Al-Qaeda, or Hezbollah. Broadcasting the execution—by firing squad no less—will only drive more radicalization and more hate towards America, endangering our national security and our men and women defending our nation.

Today, the U.S. Navy celebrates its 251st anniversary, a point of pride for our nation and a beacon of hope and peace. From the small fleet that served during the American Revolution to the thousands of ships and aircraft serving around the world today, the U.S. Navy has played an integral role in shaping our nation’s history, and I am proud to represent Naval Station Great Lakes, where every enlisted sailor begins their training and service to our nation. Today, we honor all sailors, past and present, for their dedication and commitment to protecting our nation and its citizens. Thank you to all who serve for making us proud every day and carrying on the legacy of patriotism and dedication.

Press Release
SCHNEIDER BLASTS TRUMP DECISION TO LIFT SANCTIONS ON RUSSIAN DIESEL

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL – Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10), a member of the House Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released a statement opposing President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russian diesel in a bid to lower diesel prices in the U.S. as prices shoot up to over $6 a gallon. “Nearly five years since the start of Russia’s unprovoked, illegal war against Ukraine, President Trump inexplicably continues to side with Putin and his anti-democracy agenda,” said Schneider. “Meanwhile, as American soldiers are fighting and dying in Trump’s ill-conceived war with Iran, and American families are paying the price at the pump, Russia is helping Iran target U.S. forces. President Trump is finding new ways to help Putin and worsen the state of the war in both Ukraine and the Middle East. For the more than 20 months he has been in office, Trump has had the power to impose sanctions on Russia and bring an end this war. He has chosen to do neither. Now, by lifting sanctions and allowing the United States to buy Russian diesel, the President is filling Putin’s coffers while doing little to lower diesel prices here. I will work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to block Trump’s purchases of Russian oil and stand with Ukraine in its fight for independence, sovereignty, and the West’s security.”

Thanks to President Trump’s policies, the average price of gasoline in the U.S. is $4.36 and diesel is $6.28 - record highs for October! Americans deserve better and need a serious President, not a clown wasting time daydreaming about renaming oceans. https://t.co/0QBpR3w0En

This Trump Administration move to raise prescription drug costs will only make it harder for many families to make ends meet. We should be focused on lowering costs and ensuring access to the medication people need! https://t.co/UuJeUVdCtZ

Health care costs have SKYROCKETED. Instead of working to lower costs and ensure families can afford their medications, the Trump Administration is forcing people to decide between the medication they need and paying the bills. https://t.co/nWBee1H1Qm

A civilized society ensures that justice must be served, but while justice may demand an execution, it does not demand the bloodlust and public display that Secretary Hegseth is seeking. The death penalty is permanent and is a serious and somber punishment. We the people are the executioner, the one putting another person to death. To revel in that, as Hegseth is so clearly doing, is disgusting, immoral, and reprehensible and must be condemned.

Three years ago, October 7, 2023, at 6:29 AM local time, thousands of Hamas terrorists launched a barbaric attack on communities across southern Israel. Today, we remember every innocent life lost, the families shattered, the devastation Hamas unleashed. We pray for the recovery of the hostages we fought tirelessly to bring home, and cry for those we failed to save. We must never forget the brutality of October 7 or the evil of those who carried it out. We will not lose hope or stop working for a path towards peace for both Israeli and Palestinian children and their families.
