Three years ago, Hamas carried out the deadliest attack in Israel’s history, brutally murdering, raping, and dismembering thousands and taking hundreds hostage. Today, we remember every innocent life stolen on October 7th and stand united against terrorism and antisemitism.

Texas has no state income tax, and that’s one of many reasons people keep moving here. When Texans cross state lines for temporary work, they shouldn’t pay those states’ income taxes. This is why I introduced the Mobile Workforce State Income Tax Simplification Act. Lower taxes means more money in your pocket.

Texas has lost a legend and I am deeply saddened by this news. Kay Granger transformed the city she loved. Across her many decades of service to the Fort Worth community and all of CD TX-12, she worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those she represented. She was the first woman to lead Fort Worth as Mayor, the first Republican woman to represent Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives, and the first Republican woman to chair the U.S. House Appropriations Committee. Kay will be greatly missed, but her incredible legacy will not be forgotten. I extend my sincere condolences to her family. May her memory be a blessing.

Reps. Goldman, Arrington, Steube Introduce Bill to Counter the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Regulations on American Businesses

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Reps. Craig Goldman (TX-12), Jodey Arrington (TX-19), and Greg Steube (FL-17) introduced the Stop EU Overreach Act, which would direct an investigation into European Union (EU) environmental regulations that could impose more than $1 trillion in initial compliance costs on American businesses operating on U.S. soil. “This important legislation will protect American businesses from the EU’s woke regulations and extreme green energy mandates. These radical regulations on U.S. businesses would not only cost American businesses more than a trillion dollars, but also represent a clear overreach into American sovereignty,” said Congressman Craig Goldman. “I’m grateful for the incredible support of my colleagues on this issue, as we fight to protect American businesses.” “American businesses should answer to American law, not to regulators in Brussels,” said Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.). “The EU’s sustainability mandates are a backdoor tax on our farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses that never voted for a single one of these rules. I’m co-leading the Stop EU Overreach Act with Reps. Goldman and Arrington to make sure USTR pushes back before this costs American jobs.” The Stop the EU Overreach Act would: Direct the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to launch a Section 301 investigation, under the U.S. Trade Act of 1974, into the EU’s extraterritorial “sustainability” regulatory regime. Require the USTR to consider if the EU’s use of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D), Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) constitutes an unreasonable or discriminatory trade practice burdening U.S. commerce. Instruct the USTR to identify appropriate remedies to counter these burdens and promptly report its findings to the relevant committees in the U.S. House and Senate. Background: The EU is seeking to impose extreme environmental mandates on American companies operating outside of the EU. By forcing American businesses to adhere to costly foreign regulations on supply chains, reporting requirements, and environmental practices, these mandates distort free market competition, threaten American jobs, and disadvantage American producers and manufacturers in global markets. The Stop EU Overreach Act is an America First policy that ensures American businesses answer to American law — not foreign bureaucrats. Support: The Stop EU Overreach Act is supported by Reps. Gus Bilirakis (FL-12), August Pfluger (TX-11), Randy Weber (TX-14), Earl “Buddy” Carter (GA-01), Warren Davidson (OH-08), Pete Sessions (TX-17), and the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council. Reps. Goldman, Pfluger, Wittman, Panetta, Norcross, Schrier Advance Bipartisan Prior Authorization Transparency Bill

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, the Prior Authorization Accountability Act, led by Reps. Craig Goldman (R-TX-12), August Pfluger (R-TX-11), Rob Wittman (R-VA-01), Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-19), Donald Norcross (D-NJ-01), and Kim Schrier (D-WA-08) passed out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. This bill requires all health insurance companies to display claim denial rates. "For too long, Americans have suffered from surprise medical bills and unexpected denials of health insurance claims. I'm working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to increase transparency into the health insurance process so that patients can receive better care," said Congressman Craig Goldman. "I'll keep working to pass smart legislation that actually addresses the core problems in healthcare so patients can have better, more affordable care." "Insurance is only helpful if you can actually use it when health problems arise," Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) said. "Nobody should get rejected for the care they need, especially if they already paid a ridiculous amount of money for a plan that’s supposed to cover those services in the first place. The transparency requirements of this bill will help families avoid getting the rug pulled out from under them by their insurers, and is one of many necessary changes we must make to America's healthcare system as a whole." The Prior Authorization Accountability Act would: Require all health insurance companies to publicly display their claim denial rates Increase transparency by letting Americans see the number and percentage of claims an insurer rejects before they sign up for a plan Include data on the percentage of denied claims that are appealed and subsequently overturned, as well as the average time it takes to resolve appeals Mandate this information to be posted clearly on the insurance company's website and listed in its plan materials Background: Every year, millions of Americans sign up for health insurance plans with little to no information about how insurance companies authorize care. As a result, many patients receive unexpected medical bills, experience delayed access to care, and must then navigate a lengthy appeal process to contest any claim denials. This bill would hold providers accountable while giving potential customers more data to make informed decisions. Support: The Prior Authorization Accountability Act is supported by Baylor Scott & White Health, Texas Health Resources, Private Medical Group North Texas, National Psoriasis Foundation, Arthritis Foundation, National Alliance on Mental Illness, and more.
