Hezbollah is a malign cancer that will use any tool at its disposal to undermine Lebanon’s sovereignty. The complaint against Ambassador Nada Hamadeh Moawad is a disgraceful attempt to obstruct diplomacy between Israel and Lebanon. Her excellent work is critical to building a safer and more prosperous Lebanon free from terrorist influence. https://t.co/94xAE4wfDj

Many thanks to Dan and Tammy Roach and their team for hosting me at Cornerstone Retreat Center in Orion. I appreciated the chance to learn more about their mission to support first responders’ mental health and well-being. I’ll always support policies to ensure those who serve our communities have access to the resources and care they need.

🚨 Tonight at 8 p.m., the choice in IL-16 is on full display. Watch the 16th District Candidate Forum tonight at 8 p.m. on WTVP, or stream live at https://t.co/OZSv0JbH4A or on the PBS app. I’ve spent my time in Congress fighting for common sense: ✅ Voting 5X for the Save America Act ✅ Banning Stock Trading by Members of Congress ✅ Lowering costs and taxes to keep more money in your pocket ✅ Investing in and supporting Agriculture and small businesses ✅ Listening to local communities to deliver $270M in funding for their critical infrastructure improvements My opponent is endorsed by and supports the Progressive Democrats of America, a national left-wing group that wants to: ❌ Return to Open Borders ❌ Defund Police ❌ Increase taxes by $4 TRILLION ❌ Put every American on Government Run Healthcare Those aren’t the values of central and northern Illinois. That’s the far-left national agenda, and it’s on the ballot this November. Common sense or the radical left. The choice is clear. 🇺🇸 *The 16th Congressional District Candidate Forum is hosted by the League of Women Voters of Greater Peoria and WTVP. Press Release
LaHood Urges President Trump to Issue Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for Continued Recovery Efforts from August Storms

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-16) sent a letter to President Donald Trump encouraging him to issue a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for McLean, Tazewell, Ford, Champaign, Cook, Fulton, Vermilion, and Will Counties following severe storms that caused significant wind damage and flooding in August. In the letter, LaHood writes: "I am writing in support of the State of Illinois’ request for a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for Champaign, Cook, Ford, Fulton, McLean, Tazewell, Vermilion, and Will Counties following severe storms that impacted Illinois from August 11-16, 2026. The storms caused widespread damage across Central and Northern Illinois, and I urge your Administration to provide these communities with the federal assistance they need to recover and rebuild. Beginning on August 11, a multi-day severe weather event brought multiple rounds of severe storms, tornadoes, powerful winds, and flooding to the affected counties. In McLean County, which I represent, the impact has been substantial. Severe winds and storms left behind fallen trees and power lines, flooding, and significant property damage. The Normal Fire Department responded to a record number of calls during a 24-hour shift, stretching emergency services across the area to their limits. In Bloomington alone, crews have hauled away more than 2,300 loads of brush and 500 tons of bulk waste in the weeks since the storm. Across McLean County, local officials have reported approximately $42.5 million in damage. A Major Disaster Declaration would give these communities the federal resources needed to recover, repair damaged infrastructure, and rebuild. I support the State’s request for FEMA assistance, including Individual Assistance, Public Assistance, and Hazard Mitigation, as well as the request for an SBA disaster declaration to help eligible residents, small businesses, and nonprofits recover from the damage and disruption caused by these storms. I have been impressed by the response of local leaders, first responders, and residents who stepped up to help their communities in the aftermath of these storms. However, the scale of the damage and the continued demands of recovery demonstrate that local and state resources alone are not enough. These communities have done their part, and now we need to make sure the federal government lends a hand. Disaster recovery requires cooperation at every level of government. I respectfully urge you to approve the State of Illinois’ request and ensure that the people of McLean County and the other affected Illinois communities have access to the federal resources they need to recover. I appreciate your consideration of this important request and stand ready to work with your Administration to support the communities impacted by these devastating storms." The full letter can be read here. This follows up on a letter sent by the entire Illinois delegation sent in September.

It was impressive to see the ingenuity and innovation happening at Morton Industries and their new East Peoria facility! I’ll continue to support pro-growth policies, like the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, that help manufacturers like Morton Industries expand, create more good-paying jobs, and invest in our region.

I’m honored to have the endorsement of @Local150, one of the largest building trades unions in Illinois. Local 150 members run the cranes, excavators, and pavers that build and strengthen communities across the 16th District. They work in our quarries and steel mills, and they train our next-generation workforce. In Congress, I've worked hand in hand with Local 150 to fight for good-paying jobs and safe, reliable infrastructure. I've secured more than $270 million for projects across our district, but it's the men and women of Local 150 who turn that funding into roads, bridges, and water systems Illinoisans count on. Thank you to every member of Local 150 for standing with me. #IL16 #Local150

Grateful to have earned the Illinois Farm Bureau's Friend of Agriculture Award! Thanks to Henry County Farm Bureau President Steve Nightingale for presenting me with this award and letting me tag along for a day of harvest! Agriculture is Illinois' #1 industry, and our farmers are the backbone of communities across IL16. I'll always stand up for Illinois farmers, fight to expand markets, and ensure our producers have the tools and opportunities they need to compete and succeed. #twill

It was great to tour Rock Valley College’s new downtown campus with President Howard Spearman and get a firsthand look at their programs that prepare students for careers in the trades and strengthen our local economy. I’ve been proud to go to bat for a $480,000 federal investment to support the college’s law enforcement training program, and look forward to getting this funding across the finish line to improve public safety across Northern Illinois.

Harvest is underway across #IL16! It was great to stop the Lay’s farm in Bloomington to see how harvest was coming along and discuss the importance of renewing the USMCA and the need for the Senate to pass the Farm Bill I was proud to support in the House. As our farmers are in the fields this fall, remember to slow down and look out for farm equipment on the road! 🚜
