During Hispanic Heritage Month, I’m proud to celebrate the Hispanic-owned small businesses helping drive our local economy. Yesterday, I visited John Chris Taylor Construction and Design, LLC and Taylor Beauty Bar and Spa in Freehold to recognize their entrepreneurship, hard work, and contributions to our community.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of presenting Freehold Borough and Marlboro Township with over $1.5 million in federal funding for community projects. These investments will ensure access to safe reliable drinking water and update aging infrastructure to meet the needs of the growing community. I am proud to have fought for funding that will make our community healthier, safer, and stronger.
This confirms what we’ve known for over a year: Trump is making your life more expensive.
And this is his definition of “America First”?
A skin condition shouldn’t keep you from serving your country, and it shouldn’t keep you from accessing the benefits you are owed. My new bill, the Protecting our Forces’ Benefits Act, will make sure these troops have access to the veterans' benefits they deserve. https://t.co/tHltVSqDfz
Dr. Oz said it himself. Republicans want you to lose your healthcare coverage.
This is exactly why I introduced the Protecting Patients from Automated Denials Act, which would make this kind of behavior illegal.
G’mar chatima tovah to all who celebrate! I hope the holiday season has been good to you and your family. https://t.co/TxmgFfz7A5
Pete Hegseth is covering up the deaths of our men and women in uniform to try and save his own reputation. We respect our service members and the sacrifices they make, and we honor those who've made the ultimate sacrifice, but it is clear this administration doesn't.
While Americans struggle to put food on the table and gas in their cars, Trump has spent 43.6 billion on a useless war. More proof that Trump and Republicans really don’t care about the American people.
You should try reading it sometime.
Congress had 261 voting days scheduled for this term. Republican leadership has cancelled 63 of those days so far. The American people work hard and they deserve lawmakers who show up and do their job, not ones who cancel votes and skip town.
Today marks the 25th anniversary of one of the most heinous terror attacks our nation has suffered. Today and every day, we remember, mourn, and honor the lives lost in the attacks in New York and in our nation’s capital. Let us also remember the 750 New Jersey residents who tragically lost their lives in these attacks. I stand with the families who continue to grieve, and I will always honor the heroic first responders who ran toward danger to save lives and help those trapped in the aftermath. While it’s important to hold close the memories of those we lost, we must also continue our commitment to supporting those who struggle with health challenges caused by the attacks. I remain steadfast in my dedication to ensuring the heroes of 9/11 and their families receive all the resources they need and deserve. As we reflect on this anniversary, let us also celebrate the strength and resolve of our nation that carried us through one of our darkest moments.
Today marks one year since the Trump administration started launching unauthorized military strikes on boats in the Caribbean. Over 200 people have been killed in these operations, without due process and without clear confirmation that they were affiliated with terrorist organizations, as Trump claims. Enough is enough; it’s time for transparency and accountability from this administration and our military.
Is this what @RobertKennedyJr meant when he said he wants to Make America Healthy Again?
Trump raised the price of gas by starting a war with Iran and is now trying to fix his problem by looting the natural resources of another country. This is not “America First” behavior. This is the behavior of a man who doesn’t know what he’s doing.
Washington D.C. — Today, Congressman Herb Conaway Jr., MD and Congressman Gregory Murphy, MD introduced the Protecting Patients from Automated Denials Act. This bipartisan bill would establish safeguards on the use of artificial intelligence in Medicare Advantage prior authorization decisions. Under the bill, any AI-assisted denial must be reviewed and approved by a qualified physician under the supervision of the plan’s medical director. It also requires physicians to attest that they exercised independent medical judgement and that the denial was not generated or dictated by AI. Additionally, the bill grants the Department of Health and Human Services the authority to audit and inspect AI use in prior authorization decisions, including reviewing denial data, internal policies, algorithms, employee practices, and overturn rates. “Artificial intelligence is dramatically changing the technology and healthcare industries, but we need to ensure that patients aren’t being left behind,” said Congressman Conaway, MD. “This legislation establishes necessary physician oversight and will increase transparency with the federal audit requirements to make sure patient claims aren’t being wrongfully denied.” “Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing healthcare at the speed of light, but we must protect the physician-in-the-loop," said Congressman Greg Murphy, MD. "While advancements in diagnostics, research, and administrative work will advance medicine in incredible ways, the value of a trained physician and sentient influence cannot be eroded. This is especially important for prior authorization decisions - patients are not merely numbers on a spreadsheet. We cannot allow greedy health insurers to utilize AI to deny healthcare to those in need. I am proud to lead on this issue by establishing sensible guardrails that ensure the proliferation of AI in the field of medicine does no harm.” “Artificial intelligence is no substitute for a highly trained physician. Medicare Advantage plans should not be permitted to empower AI to make prior authorization decisions, especially denials of medically necessary treatment. We strongly support the provision requiring that physicians oversee any initial prior authorization denial that stems from the use of artificial intelligence. Our patients are being denied care by AI that doesn’t know them, their circumstances, or the nuances of their treatment – and doesn’t care! We applaud Reps. Herb Conaway, MD (D-NJ) and Greg Murphy, MD (R-NC) for introducing the Protecting Patients From Automated Denials Act, and our patients will be grateful and healthier when it becomes law.” AMA President Willie Underwood III, MD, MSc, MPH
