Thanks to Werkman Outfitters in Ada for welcoming me! It was great to learn how their love of fishing and the Grand River inspired a family-owned business committed to protecting our local waterways. https://t.co/l2QL5i7nEW

Michigan’s lakes and rivers are a big part of what makes West Michigan home. I enjoyed walking through Roselle Park with the League of Conservation Voters and discussing how we can protect our wetlands, keep our water clean, and preserve these natural resources for future generations.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Grand Rapids, and to my friend Vice Chair @PeteAguilar, for supporting our work to build a Democratic House majority. Majorities are made in Michigan, and I’m proud to be part of the effort to support great Democratic candidates across the country.

I had a great conversation with Cascade Township leaders about the issues affecting their community, from PFAS contamination to local housing and parks. Hearing directly from local leaders helps me understand what West Michigan needs and how I can work to deliver results. https://t.co/SlnTot6QX3

I joined faith-based school leaders from across West Michigan for a roundtable discussion about the challenges facing their schools, from staffing and student needs to the growing use of AI in education. Hearing directly from educators and school leaders helps me better understand the issues affecting students, families, and classrooms across our community. Thank you to Grand Rapids Christian Schools for hosting this important conversation.

Last night, I joined the Temple Israel community for an important conversation with Dan Senor about rising antisemitism and the challenges facing political discourse in our country. Seven months after Temple Israel was targeted in an act of terror, this community continues to show incredible strength. No one should have to fear gathering to worship or sending their children to school because of their faith. Fighting antisemitism is a responsibility we all share, and I’ll continue working to secure the resources our faith communities need to stay safe.

No Member of Congress, regardless of party, should face political intimidation from the executive branch. Any use of the federal government's power to target political opponents threatens our democracy. Today's search of Congresswoman @Ilhan Omar’s home by DHS and DOJ reminds us the importance of protecting against the weaponization of federal law enforcement. The public deserves clear answers immediately about the circumstances surrounding this search. https://t.co/emhsiK9Olp

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we recognize the history, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous communities across West Michigan, including the Gun Lake Tribe and the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians. We must continue to respect tribal sovereignty and support the communities who have shaped our region.

Federal dollars need to deliver results for West Michigan. That’s why I created a grants newsletter – to help local governments, schools, nonprofits, and organizations of every size stay informed about funding opportunities and resources. Sign up to stay in the loop and make sure we don’t leave money on the table.

I’ve been harassed, gotten death threats, and even been placed on a killer’s hit list. No elected official should have to live in fear for their safety just for doing their job. A central part of my work in Congress is lowering the temperature, getting us back to civil dialogue, and creating safety to truly work through our differences and debate ideas on their merits without fear that we might be killed for thinking critically about an issue of the day. https://t.co/ffgc9wIF5h

My heart is with Rikki, @DanMillerFox2, and all their loved ones as they navigate this unimaginable loss. I love you all and am keeping you in my prayers. https://t.co/dnvKCgVq52

Do you volunteer, play sports, take part in clubs, scout programs, or enjoy outdoor adventures? Those activities could help you earn the Congressional Award. This program recognizes young people ages 14 to 24 for growth in service, fitness, personal development, and exploration. I encourage West Michigan’s young leaders to learn more and apply through my website.
