Behind every product made in North Dakota is a person with a story to tell. I enjoyed speaking at the Greater North Dakota Chamber’s 2026 Faces of Manufacturing event, celebrating the hardworking people who make our state’s manufacturing industry so special. As I’ve visited manufacturers across North Dakota, what sticks with me most isn’t the technology or the products being made. It’s the people, their ingenuity, their pride in their work, and the opportunities these businesses create for families and communities. One of the honorees, Franco Goicochea, was a perfect example. Franco came to Minot homeless and started his career at AGT Foods sweeping floors. Today, he is the General Manager of the AGT Foods Extrusion Center. What an incredible story of opportunity, hard work, and determination. Congratulations to Franco, Alisia, Evan, Mehdin, Grissmarie, Amanda, Jeri, Shanessa, Jerrold, and Garrett on this well-deserved recognition. Thank you for the work you do every day to make North Dakota a great place to live, work, and build a future.

Turtle Mountain Community College might have one of the prettiest campuses in North Dakota this time of year! The beautiful birch trees surrounding campus are a stunning shade of yellow. I enjoyed touring the college with Bentley, the student body president. What an impressive young man and a wonderful ambassador for his school! We had a great discussion about the college’s future and opportunities for growth, including additional classrooms and student housing. It’s exciting to see the vision they have for expanding opportunities for students in the Turtle Mountain community. Thank you for the warm welcome and the beautiful bag and handwoven basket. Such thoughtful gifts and a wonderful reminder of our visit.

The team at Dakota College at Bottineau is small but mighty, with many staff members wearing three or more hats to serve their students! We toured campus today and learned more about their impressive two-year nursing program, which is helping train the health care professionals North Dakota needs, especially in our rural communities. We also had a productive roundtable on challenges facing community colleges, including creative solutions to accreditation barriers and stopping fraudsters from exploiting the student aid system with ghost students who steal precious money from colleges and taxpayers. Thanks to the Dakota College team for all you do for North Dakota students!

Today we celebrate the 251st birthday of the United States Navy! 🇺🇸 A heartfelt thank you to all the men and women who have served, and to those who continue to serve, in our Navy, including my Navy vet hubby. We are incredibly grateful for everything you do to defend our country. Here’s to 251 years of keeping our nation safe and protecting our waters!

North Dakota’s 53 counties each have their own unique needs, challenges, and opportunities, and there’s no better way to understand them than hearing directly from the local leaders who serve their communities every day! I enjoyed catching up with county leaders from across the state at the North Dakota Association of Counties social and discussing the issues that matter most to their communities. Our county officials are on the front lines of serving North Dakotans, and their perspectives are incredibly valuable. A special shoutout to the North Dakota County Recorders, who definitely win best dressed for this year’s America 250 theme with their fantastic dresses! 🇺🇸

North Dakota farmers and farm families are the backbone of our rural communities. Their hard work and resilience help feed and fuel our country, and power North Dakota’s economy. Working with our farmers and agriculture organizations is an honor. We have delivered on several major priorities, including raising reference prices and strengthening crop insurance to give producers more certainty and a stronger safety net. We passed a new Farm Bill and year-round E15 in the House, and I’ll keep working to get these vital policies across the finish line. Today, we recognize everything our farmers do and the sacrifices they make to put food on tables across America. Thank you!!

Beautiful pheasant opener in North Dakota today. We had an amazing hunt. Lots of birds!!! Hit a few—missed quite a few. 🤷‍♀️ Such a great way to enjoy our freedom and the great outdoors with friends, family, and our dogs. Another proud ND tradition. https://t.co/ZfyFdN2Qf0

Where is the first and only U.S. drone battery cell production facility located? As of today, Fargo, ND. Congrats to Terri Finneman and the entire team of innovators and problem solvers at Badland Batteries. From an ambitious idea to a fully operational manufacturing facility, this is American ingenuity and innovation at its best. I love seeing North Dakota lead in the rebuilding of America’s industrial base and developing vital technologies to make our nation more secure.

Great visit this morning in Napoleon with the movers and shakers of this wonderful community! From housing and healthcare to workforce needs, issues facing our ranchers, and plenty in between, we had a great conversation about what’s happening across the community. A big thank you to Senator Bob Erbele for the hospitality and to everyone who joined us at the local diner! Of course, we couldn’t leave without enjoying some lunch, too. Paula and Lily took great care of us—wonderful service and a great local spot. Highly recommend stopping in when you’re in Napoleon!

In a community like Gwinner, folks wear many hats—and many also step up to serve as volunteers with the Gwinner Fire Department. The department plays an important role protecting the community, including the Bobcat manufacturing facility and rural areas surrounding Gwinner. Even during the busy harvest season, we had the chance to sit down with members of the department and several local leaders to hear about what’s happening in the community. These are folks who care deeply about Gwinner and its future, and it was great to hear directly from them. A big thank you to the Gwinner Fire Department for the hospitality and, most importantly, for the time and service you give to your community!

Some welcome relief for diesel prices. This combined with state action by @GovArmstrong could save North Dakota agriculture producers up to 43.4 cents per gallon. Not a perfect solution, but it’s going to take time to build back the significant U.S. diesel refinery capacity lost under the Biden administration’s efforts to eliminate fossil fuels. https://t.co/7lGBzyHpH9

One of the highlights of UND’s Homecoming weekend was a beam signing for the new Engineering & Science Complex, an investment in our next generation of leaders and problem-solvers. STEM students will help tackle the biggest challenges facing our state and nation. This new complex will give them the tools, technology, and opportunities to prepare for the problems and opportunities ahead! Many thanks to the generous alumni who are helping make it happen.

Diesel prices have to come down. I’ve been urging Jamieson Greer, Kevin Hassett, Doug Burgum, Chris Wright, and other administration officials over the last few weeks to use every tool at their disposal to address this. The announcement today that President Trump is working with our global partners to release 100 million barrels from their reserves is great news and should have a meaningful impact on prices! I know there is more to do, and I will not stop working until we get costs down long term for North Dakota.

Great article from the @WSJ Editorial Board. “What are Democrats now proposing to improve affordability? More of the same policies—more spending on welfare and ‘affordable’ housing, more green-energy subsidies, more healthcare regulation and higher minimum wages nationwide."
