The victims of the Ft. Hood mass shooting and their families deserve justice and accountability. But Secretary Hegseth's announcement that he intends to livestream the shooter's execution does not further these ends. Public executions should not happen in the United States. Turning death into a public spectacle dehumanizes and degrades us, individually and collectively. This decision is another one of many that are out of step with the rule of law and our expectations of American leaders. It is a not too late to reverse this decision, and that is what should happen. https://t.co/OKtDHsIBUq

Under the Trump administration's new legal services contracts, unaccompanied children are being detained for extended periods without adequate legal services or enough time to prepare for court proceedings. I joined @RepLouCorrea to guarantee quality legal representation and humane treatment for these children.

Millions of women across the country rely on estrogen patches to help manage menopause symptoms and to protect their long term health, but the supply of these patches has not kept up with the increasing demand. I was glad to join the @DemWomenCaucus in sending a letter to the FDA demanding it address this shortage.

Our international students, researchers, and journalists in our community and across our country make important contributions to our schools, our communities, and our economy. Placing fixed time limits on their studies ignores how long some study programs actually take and adds red tape to an immigration system that is already overwhelmed. That's why I am glad to introduce legislation with @RepRaskin, @RepJayapal, and @RepLiccardo to repeal this rule and to help ensure the success of our universities and communities. https://t.co/qgnLQjqqzc

Thank you to the academy representatives and students who came to this weekend's Service Academy Day, where high school students and their families heard directly from representatives of @AF_Academy, @NavalAcademy, @WestPoint_USMA, and @USMMAO about academy life and the application and nomination process. This annual event and the young people who attend, who are working so hard to earn a nomination to serve our country, inspire me and should inspire us all!

Once again, ICE is putting our public safety at risk by hiring undervetted officers, skipping basic checks and training. This is exactly why I introduced the Freeze ICE Act—until we have accountability, transparency, and procedural reform, a hiring freeze is crucial to the safety of the American people. https://t.co/9SWBRxQwrM

People in our communities help ensure our elections run safely and smoothly. Poll workers and local election officials check voters in, help answer questions, secure ballots, and follow the rules that keep elections safe and accurate. They do important work, and they deserve our respect, support, and thanks.

It has been five years since our community gathered to rename the Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal Post Office in honor of the @HCSOTexas deputy who made history in our country as the first Sikh officer to wear his articles of faith while serving, and who was killed in the line of duty. I led the effort to rename the post office so that the mark he made on our country, our community, among Sikhs, and in his own family will never be forgotten.

The Public Broadcasting Service (@PBS) aired its first program on this day in 1970, marking a pivotal moment in American television, providing high-quality, educational and entertaining programming free from the demands of a commercial broadcast. Today, Texas has the second highest number of PBS viewers in the country, which is why it is so important to people across our state that the federal government reinstates PBS' funding. #America250
