Trump's Russian diesel deal breaks the law, which resulted from my 2022 bill cutting off a major source of funding for Putin‘s war machine. As TIME reports, my comments are supported by both legal experts &energy analysts, who note that this won’t lower diesel prices, which were caused by Trump‘s reckless war with Iran. With new cash Trump is providing from Americans, only Vladimir Putin wins. https://t.co/6eEk9YZvsa
Following his repeated promises that he would bring prices down immediately after he became President, Trump just claimed victory: “we are bringing prices way down.” Yet in fact, with his many failed policies, Inflation jumped from 3.4% in August to3.7% in September. It’s not just gas: airfares, used cars, medical care and clothing are all up. For the sixth straight month, rising prices have wiped out any workers’ pay raises. We deserve a leader who speaks the truth, not one who continually lies about his failures that cost us so much. https://t.co/Ywex9KJ4mv
GOP Senate Armed Services Chair & faithful Trump supporter, Roger Wicker, has it right— Trump’s diesel purchase gift to Putin is not “going to go through;” it’s a violation of the law prohibiting such imports into the US. As Sen. Wicker stated, “there’s a much better way in the near term to lower energy prices.” Trump can end his reckless war with Iran. https://t.co/foq3JaNsYk
Trump is permitting Russian diesel imports in direct violation of federal statute. He illegally rewards his pal Putin while blaming Zelensky for not bending a knee the way Trump has. More of my comments to AP. https://t.co/dMAvr5DYYn
In 2022, my name was on the first law banning Russian fossil fuel imports to deny Putin funding for his brutal invasion of Ukraine. Now, Trump is directly violating that law by removing sanctions to permit the first Russian diesel imports into the US since 2022, when this law went into effect, without satisfying the specific legal conditions for doing so. He illegally rewards his pal Putin while at the same time once again blaming Zelensky for not capitulating to Putin. Meanwhile, every day Putin murders more Ukrainian civilians. https://t.co/NH0d0MC6fF
After TRUMPing up charges against Rep. LaMonica McIver and inventing investigations into Senator Adam Schiff and Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, Trump turns to another perceived political enemy, Rep. @Ilhan . This lawless regime abuses its power and ignores the rule of law, but my colleagues are freedom-loving patriots who will not be intimidated. I stand with them and our democracy. https://t.co/WKz4XFoRMe
Sponsor of 2022 Russian Energy Import Ban Says Trump Rewards Putin While Blaming Zelensky WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), a longtime champion of cutting off Russian energy revenue whose name is on the 2022 Ending Importation of Russian Oil Act (Public Law 117-109), today said President Trump's deal with Vladimir Putin to allow Russian diesel into the United States directly violates that law. On Friday, after a Trump call with Putin, the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control issued General License 135, authorizing the sale, delivery, offloading, and “importation into the United States” of Russian diesel through April 7, 2027. “In 2022, my name was on the first law banning Russian fossil fuel imports to deny Putin funding for his brutal invasion of Ukraine,” said Rep. Doggett. “Now Trump is directly violating that law, lifting sanctions to permit the first Russian diesel imports into the United States since the law took effect, without satisfying the specific legal conditions it requires. He illegally rewards his pal Putin while once again blaming Zelensky for not capitulating to Putin. Meanwhile, every day Putin murders more Ukrainian civilians.” What the law requires The Ending Importation of Russian Oil Act passed the House 413–9 and the Senate unanimously, and was signed into law on April 8, 2022. It bans the importation of all Russian energy products classified under chapter 27 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, which includes diesel. The law permits the President to end the ban only by certifying to Congress that Russia has: reached an agreement to withdraw its forces and end hostilities that is accepted by Ukraine's government; ceased to pose an immediate military threat to any NATO member; and recognized the right of the Ukrainian people to freely choose their own government. The President must first consult with the Ways and Means, Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Foreign Relations Committees and submit a report at least 45 days before certifying. Any termination takes effect only after 90 days, during which Congress may enact a resolution of disapproval. None of these steps has occurred, and none of the conditions has been met. Bipartisan concern Rep. Doggett's concerns are shared across party lines. A bipartisan group of senators has recognized the illegality of Trump’s action. On NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) said there is “a legitimate case for saying the president's not following the law” and warned that the deal will put American lives at risk, citing the Kremlin's ties to Iran. Former Vice President Mike Pence called lifting the sanctions a betrayal of the late Senator Lindsey Graham's legacy. The deal comes weeks after President Trump signed a sweeping Russia sanctions law, and only weeks after he publicly called on President Zelensky to stop Ukrainian strikes on Russian diesel infrastructure, blaming Ukraine rather than the war with Iran for high fuel prices. ###
After failing to lower drug prices as promised, Trump has a new program, which shows how price gouging should be addressed by setting prices based on 19 other countries that pay substantially less. Yet Trump lacks the courage to meaningfully take on Big Pharma—doing nothing for drugs purchased directly by consumers and focusing solely on a handful of Part B administered drugs. https://t.co/wFBwTkUi2z
Burying the truth concerning the costs of his reckless war, Trump has failed to report at least 4 additional servicemembers who have tragically died due to his military adventurism. At least three American contractors have also died. All his war has achieved is more bloodshed, more taxpayer dollars wasted, and an even more hardline regime in Iran. https://t.co/QZDeou3ikl
Instead of using the new sanctions Congress authorized against Putin, Trump is sanctioning the International Criminal Court, which seeks Putin’s arrest for abducting Ukrainian children. Trump’s effort “to cripple” the Court is another major assault on the rule of law and protection of human rights. Good to see our allies defending the Court and not yielding to our bully-in-chief. https://t.co/r137ho3X2Z
A tax cheat in the White House is gutting the agency that catches tax cheats. Republicans spent a decade starving the IRS. To reverse these cuts, I strongly supported a ten-year plan to restore funding for high-end tax enforcement at the IRS, but Republicans killed it in under three. Now Trump and DOGE have driven out more than a quarter of the IRS's remaining auditors and collectors. https://t.co/WVvt4v3fTr
Surprising that the Russians are devoting any resources to disparaging our Americans elections when Trump is doing so much of that for them. Putin continues to protect his pal Trump as Kremlin trolls only post their false videos against Democratic Senate nominees. https://t.co/Pc7EdBkw08
Trump has pardoned more convicted fraudsters than any U.S. president, including health care criminals. After denying victims restitution and putting the swindlers back on the streets, he is denying access to a doctor for nearly 1 million individuals, including consumers he admits were unaware fraud was committed in their name. While pleased to see suspension of insurance agents & brokers committing fraud, I am concerned, after DOGE took a chainsaw to federal programs and Trump has repeatedly attempted to repeal the ACA, that no eligible American be denied coverage. https://t.co/VdwYllRDhp

While apparently Trump’s political board vetoing medical research has been walked back for now, his continued interference with scientific integrity endangers public health, the ability to develop new treatments and cures for diseases like Alzheimer’s, and America’s global standing as a science leader. https://t.co/NvKW19rXpd
More sick children from political harassment of physicians and fanatic interference in the patient/physician relationship. https://t.co/7nZ1MZ2ttm
Trump is clearing the path for more flavored vapes to enter the legal market, delivering more help for the addiction industry at the expense of public health. Big Tobacco has donated millions to Trump, and now our kids are paying the price. https://t.co/0NiJfvMeXf
No wonder Trump kept his grand bargains with Big Pharma a secret. They’re just agreements to protect pharma profits with tariff tax exemptions and higher prices for consumers everywhere. No evidence of meaningful savings for Americans struggling to afford necessary medicines. https://t.co/tCFDubexgl

Trump‘s great “accomplishment” with Greenland offers the US little that we did not already have under a 1950s defense treaty and through NATO. All he really accomplished was alienating one of our strongest allies, Denmark, and jeopardizing our NATO alliance to the benefit of his buddy Putin. https://t.co/RenrGJWqsr
As RFK campaigns for Republicans around the country, his security is being funded by a Reagan-created office to address high rates of black infant mortality. Trump regime corruption endangers lives. https://t.co/ba16emsPXb
I commend UT Professor Jason Brownlee for speaking out. UT leadership, taking cues from Abbott's political agenda, is pushing through sweeping changes behind closed doors, threatening the academic excellence generations of Longhorns have built. Faculty and students deserve a real voice in decisions that will shape the future of our University. https://t.co/rYXoDMDwjB
An ectopic pregnancy (when the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus) should not be a death sentence. By interfering with emergency treatment, GOP abortion bans can be just that. Doctors already face the threat of prosecution in TX, now the TX GOP Platform even urges prosecution of women. https://t.co/S0RxxJh6qp
