Repeatedly, John Braun denied voting against House Bill 2225 — the law that stops AI chatbots from engaging in sexually explicit conversations with kids. At our last debate, he went further. He claimed the bill didn’t exist and his vote “never happened." Pressed by the Seattle Times, he now admits that he DID vote no on protecting Washington’s children from predatory AI. Thankfully, the bill passed anyway, Braun didn’t just cast a bad vote. He lied about it, repeatedly. If he’ll rewrite his record on something this clear, what else is he hiding?

My loyalty is always with the workers and the families impacted. On day one after the Longview tragedy I secured commitment working with the union that workers continue to be paid during the investigation. Everything you need to know about how Senator Braun will respond to an accident like this you can learn from how he treated his employees after an accident at his own company.

It's shocking, but Senator Braun voted against HB 2225, a bill that puts common-sense restrictions on technology companies from sending sexually explicit material to children through AI companion chatbots. And now he's lying about it. It's clear who Braun works for and it's not us.

Nominating students from Southwest Washington to our military service academies is one of the greatest honors I have as a Member of Congress. At the info night, it was a real encouragement to see a packed house of young people and their families from throughout the district interested in serving our country. The deadline for the service academy nominations is Sunday, November 15th. Please go to my website to learn more about our process: https://t.co/ykf2rO5M1V

I was thrilled to take part in the Camas School District Forum. I'm one of the few Representatives who has a child in public school. Participation in public education is vital to community involvement and representative democracy. I'm not reading about our schools in a briefing. I'm at pickup, at parent-teacher conferences, and at fundraisers. That's what it takes to make our schools better: showing up. Unfortunately, my opponent couldn't be bothered to join our discussions on the importance of participation in public education.

In Congress, I will always look for ways to uplift students and teachers in the trades.

John Braun took Trump's endorsement, and he's paid for it with loyalty to the President. When Trump launched his war with Iran, Braun backed it and promised the spike in gas prices would only be "temporary." It's been anything but. Southwest Washington families are still paying for it at the pump. The price spike wasn't temporary, and neither is Braun's blind loyalty to Trump.

Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez Introduces Legislation to Bring More Nurses to Public Schools

WASHINGTON, DC — This week, Reps. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Jen Kiggans (R-VA) introduced the bipartisan More Nurses in Rural Schools Act to address the shortage of nurses in the American public school system and ensure students have access to comprehensive, on-site care during the school day. The bill would provide access to student loan repayment for eligible nurses working in schools in health care deserts by opening up the existing National Health Services Corps Loan Repayment Program (NHSLRP) to part- and full-time registered nurses committed to serving schools in health professional shortage areas (HPSA). While existing student loan repayment programs exist to bring qualified nurses to communities in need, these opportunities typically do not extend to school nurses, who often cannot meet full-time, year-round requirements and do not work in the 2% of public schools designated as School-Based Health Clinic (SBHC) facilities. As a result, registered nurses must choose between working in their communities and taking on the brunt of their student loans, or move to more established clinics. This leaves students without comprehensive services on-site in communities already combatting health care access challenges inflamed by H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which cut health coverage for 31,000 people across Southwest Washington. The following report, by the NASN, elaborates on the challenges facing school nurses: Specifically, the More Nurses in Rural Schools Act would eliminate these barriers for school nurses by: Allowing the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to permit an individual who agrees to serve for a time period equal to 2 years or longer as a school nurse in an elementary or secondary school located within a health professional shortage area to participate in the NHSC LRP. For part-time employees, the Secretary is directed to increase the time period of service to the same number of hours as an individual serving in such a position on a full-year, full-time basis. Directing the Secretary to establish annual certification requirements for the purpose of verifying the number of hours worked by such individuals. This follows the application process framework in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, which allows states to track these hours as they see fit. Defining a “school nurse” as “a registered nurse who is employed by a school or local educational agency or State or State educational agency and is qualified under State law to provide assessment, diagnosis, counseling, educational, therapeutic, and other health services to meet student needs.” In implementation, this bill would help bring comprehensive health care services to elementary and secondary schools across the country in HPSAs – the majority of which are located in rural and partially rural areas. “Sending your kid off to their first day of school, it’s like your heart came out of your body and it’s walking around in front of you. You want to know your school has every single option they can to take care of kids when they need it.” said Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez. “Letting schools become healthcare deserts isn’t in anyone’s best interest. My bill extends existing loan forgiveness programs to nurses who make the noble choice to serve their community and take care of our children. Especially in rural communities, they’re a priceless lifeline.” “Every student deserves access to quality health care, regardless of where they live. As a nurse practitioner, I know firsthand how important it is to have a qualified nursing workforce available to care for patients and support their families.” said Rep. Kiggans, “I am proud to join Congresswoman Gluesenkamp Perez in introducing the More Nurses in Rural Schools Act to remove outdated barriers for nurses who want to serve their communities and bring more healthcare professionals to rural and underserved schools.” “Every student, regardless of where they live, deserves access to a school nurse. The More Nurses in Rural Schools Act is an important step toward addressing persistent workforce shortages and ensuring that students in underserved communities are able to receive the timely, skilled care they need to stay healthy, safe, and ready to learn.” said Lynn Nelson, President of the National Association of School Nurses, “On behalf of the National Association of School Nurses, I thank Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Representative Jen Kiggans for their bipartisan leadership and shared commitment to strengthening school health services and advancing health equity for rural children and families. Their collaboration demonstrates that supporting the health and success of students is a priority that transcends party lines.” Supporting schools, especially in rural areas, has been a priority for Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez. In 2025, she passed a bipartisan bill to reauthorize the Secure Rural Schools (SRS), recovering $8.9 million in 2024 and 2025 payments for local counties and schools, after it lapsed earlier that year. She has also done extensive work funding and supporting trades education in schools. Recently, she attended the ribbon cutting for a new CTE center at Fort Vancouver High school. In addition, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez voted against H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law on July 4, 2025. This law eliminated Medicaid eligibility for roughly 17 million Americans–including 31,000 in Southwest Washington. The bill also failed to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) enhanced premium tax credits, which helped cover health care coverage costs for lower-income households. Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez co-led the Bipartisan Premium Tax Credit Extension Act to extend these tax credits for one year, giving families more time to make these important health care decisions. This legislation is supported by the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) ####

When Congress approves funding, that money is supposed to reach the people it was meant for. Instead, the White House used a "pocket rescission," waiting out the clock so Congress can't respond, to illegally strip away nearly $1 billion. A Democratic majority will put a stop to this bullshit loophole. A deliberative democracy needs to be able to debate how we spend taxpayer dollars. If they can't make the case for these cuts to Congress, they shouldn't be using shady backdoor methods to force them through after the fact. John Braun has taken millions of dollars from Trump and fully supports Trump's agenda. He won't do a thing to stop this kind of illegal behavior.

A byzantine permitting process is driving up the costs of getting power projects online. Ratepayers shouldn’t have to shoulder the burden of these extra costs. We don’t need a phonebook sized book of regulations slowing us down. In Congress, I’m working on permitting reform-- like the SPEED Act-- to help make these vital projects a reality without costing us an extra arm and a leg. https://t.co/IJ0vLvZskY

Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez visits Seafood Processor and Hosts Military Service Academy Info Night

SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON — Earlier this month, Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez spent the day in Cowlitz and Clark Counties where she continued working on issues directly affecting Southwest Washington. That afternoon she travelled up to Cowlitz County where she visited a seafood processing center that packages and ships locally-caught seafood across the country. Later that evening, the Congresswoman hosted an information night in Clark County for students interested in military service academies. For her first stop of the day, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez toured Pacific Seafood’s Woodland facility and discussed what it takes to distribute locally caught seafood across the country. The processing and distribution center is a critical hub for shipping west coast seafood. Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez also used the time to sit down with employees to discuss the importance of having a predictable permitting environment, supporting working waterfronts, and having strong regional supply chains. “Working waterfronts are kitchen table issues for us in Southwest Washington. Nobody wants a waterfront with only yachts and tents, but if we don’t stand up for the people who make their living on the water that’s what we’ll get.” Said Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez, “The generational skill it takes to keep our working waterfronts up and running–and feeding us–is incredible. I’m committed to continuing to support our fishermen in Congress.” To hear a recap on the visit directly from the Congresswoman click HERE. Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez at Pacific Seafood Southwest Washington is home to some of the most fish-dependent communities in the country. Earlier this year she worked in the appropriations committee to include a provision to prioritize local and regional seafood in the National School Lunch Program. She is also a co-sponsor of the Local Farmers Feeding Our Communities Act, a bill to establish cooperative agreements connecting local farmers and producers with local food distribution organizations – including for purchases of locally processed food like seafood. Later that evening, Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez headed down to Clark County where she hosted an information night for students interested in attending our nation’s military service academies. Every year the Congresswoman nominates a group of incredible students from Southwest Washington as they begin their careers in public service. “It’s incredibly encouraging to see so many students come out to learn about how they can build a career in public service. Offering students the options to have diverse career paths and paths that let them give back to their communities, ” said Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez. “Every year I’m so proud to see the young men and women from across Southwest Washington who take this step to serve their country and our community.” ####
