We’re just days away from our virtual Town Hall on Affordability on Tuesday, October 20th! I have heard from constituents around CA-10 about how they are struggling to keep up with the rising prices of gas, groceries, healthcare, and more. RSVP now to join us on Zoom for an update on how I am working in Congress to lower costs for your family, from voting for an end to Trump’s abuse of war powers in Iran to addressing the skyrocketing price of healthcare. I will be joined by expert special guests from @Groundwork and @CAPolicyLab and we will take your questions. Join us: https://t.co/wSlYARb1GJ
I recently joined Contra Costa County Supervisors @SupervisorSSP and @CCCdistrict3 and other local stakeholders at a roundtable to discuss state and federal legislative issues impacting our community. Having served the East Bay at all levels of government, I know firsthand the critical importance of cooperation between local, state, and federal leaders.
I am proud of the bipartisan work we do on the House Ethics Committee, but I also believe in constant self-reflection and considering possible reforms that could make our Committee more efficient and effective. I spoke with @BGOV @MaeveSheehey about the future of the Ethics Committee and my commitment to holding Members of Congress accountable, deterring bad behavior, and restoring trust in government.
I recently joined students at California High School in San Ramon to discuss my work in Congress and hear about the federal issues that are top of mind for them. These Education Listening Tours are one of my favorite ways to connect with bright young people in CA-10and I look forward to bringing their ideas and concerns back to Capitol Hill.
I was proud to deliver a check for $1,200,000 to the Contra Costa County Public Works Department to close a gap in the County-wide bicycle network in Pacheco and ensure safety for all road users. This year, I fought to bring back federal funding totaling more than $16 million for projects right here in our community.
ICYMI: I spoke with @abc7newsbayarea at last week’s town hall on refineries in Martinez about the urgent need for policy reforms to address safety issues. https://t.co/JG7d7dpwLv
The cost of everything from gas to groceries continues to rise and CA-10 families are paying the price. In an area where the cost of living is already high, these increases are causing many local families real hardship. Join us at a virtual Town Hall on Affordability on Tuesday, October 20th at 3:00 p.m. to discuss how I am working in Congress to combat rising prices. I will also be joined by expert special guest from @groundwork and @CAPolicyLab and together we will take your questions. Join us: https://t.co/wSlYARatRb
This Indigenous Peoples’ Day we honor and recognize the native peoples of the East Bay, including the Ohlone, Bay Miwok, and Northern Valley Yokut, who first stewarded this land and some of whom continue to call it home. Among the biggest threats to our republic and our elections are bad actors abroad who have weaponized social media to spread disinformation. I introduced a bill today to research and combat the nefarious actions of these bot accounts. Learn more: https://t.co/KIsFEgR6FR
This week in the East Bay was full of listening tours – from sitting down with young people at Monte Vista, Cal High, and Los Medanos, to visiting the Buchanan Field Airport control tower. Tune in to hear about my week in the district, including last night’s town hall on refineries.
Thanks to all the constituents who joined us last night on a warm October evening for our town hall on refinery safety at John Muir Elementary in Martinez. We appreciate your thoughtful questions and engagement. Many thanks also to our wonderful panelists Nicole Heath from @ContraCostaFire and Dr. Philip Fine from @airdistrict for sharing their expertise. If you missed the town hall, you can view a recording here: Link TK
I joined students at Los Medanos College’s Brentwood Campus today for a roundtable discussion to hear directly from students about the federal issues that matter to them and about the areas for improvement in higher education. As I have shared, during a previous Education Listening Tour, a student brought forward an issue with textbook costs and I later supported federal funding to address that very issue on local campuses. Thanks to the Los Medanos students today for sharing their time and bright ideas about how to make education more accessible and affordable in our area.
This afternoon I visited Buchanan Field Airport as part of my ongoing Transportation Listening Tour to meet with representatives from the National Air Traffic Controllers Association. As a member of the Aviation Subcommittee on @TransportDems, I am proud of the advances we have made, including several provisions I championed in the Safe Landings Act, to improve the safety of the flying public. There is still work to do to address the shortage of air traffic controllers and upgrade aging airport infrastructure, but I will continue to lead this safety fight for Buchanan Field, Bay Area airports, and airports across the country.
I am looking forward to this evening’s town hall on refineries in Martinez! If you still want to join us in person at 6:00 p.m., call my Walnut Creek District Office at (925) 933-2660 to RSVP and receive the location. https://t.co/dPmVvYiqpi
Thanks to President Trump’s disastrous war in Iran and other policies, gas prices are at a record high, grocery bills continue to climb, and for some families in our community, healthcare costs more than doubled this year. Trump’s economy is simply not working for CA-10 or for the American people. To discuss how House Democrats are working in Congress to lower the cost of living, I am hosting a virtual Town Hall on Affordability on Tuesday, October 20th at 3:00 p.m.
As a senior member of @EdWorkforceDems, one of the best parts of my job is meeting with students and educators across the East Bay. This morning, I was joined by Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder Kristin Connelly and we sat down with students at Monte Vista High School in Danville to discuss youth civic engagement, election security, and my day-to-day work in Congress on behalf of CA-10.
Join us for this important conversation on Zoom and bring your questions! RSVP: https://t.co/EkE6QZ2kHn

This morning I joined the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors and the District Attorney’s Office to present a check for $600,000 in federal funding that I helped secure to create an Organized Retail Theft Prevention and Prosecution Unit. I am proud to deliver these funds back to our community to help local law enforcement and the DA’s office better address these types of crimes and improve public safety.
We held Constituent Office Hours this afternoon at our office in the Antioch Community Center. I appreciate the opportunities to sit down with constituents face-to-face and discuss the federal issues that matter most to them. Reach out to my local offices if you are interested in meeting with me!

A new low for President Trump as he invites a foreign adversary to attack American cities. I joined my California colleagues in the House in condemning the President’s disgusting statement. I continue to call for the end of his disastrous war with Iran. https://t.co/UpC3X0hgFW
