Trump’s recent actions on Ukraine prove what we have always known: his top priority is pleasing Putin first, everything else second. The day after Russia killed 30 Ukrainian civilians, Trump lifted sanctions on Russian diesel and vowed that the US will buy it—even though Russia is bankrolling Iran in the war the President’s waging. None of this will bring down prices at home. All of it will embolden our adversaries.

Today is Wadee Remembrance Day in Illinois. Wadee Alfayoumi was a six-year-old American boy who was brutally murdered in a hate crime targeting his Palestinian and Muslim identity. Every child, no matter their race, ethnicity, or religion, deserves to live safely. Today, we honor Wadee by condemning violence and fighting hate.

Survivors who speak out display incredible strength and bravery in pursuit of justice. I stand with this woman and everyone who has sought accountability from their assailants. I also applaud the young women who stepped in to protect and defend their friend. It is unacceptable that their actions were even necessary and that none of the young men present intervened. I urge the University of Chicago to complete a thorough investigation and ensure any perpetrators face consequences with the university and law enforcement alike.

Donald Trump has spent nearly a decade attacking Rep. Ilhan Omar with disgusting, racist smears. His abuse has directly put her safety at risk, including repeated death threats. She has done nothing to justify a pre-dawn raid on her home just before an election. This raid was a blatant abuse of power intended to intimidate Rep. Omar and send a message to Trump's political opponents ahead of the midterms. Violating the DOJ’s long standing policy of avoiding law enforcement action 60 days before an election is a deliberate choice aimed at influencing the election outcome. I stand with @Ilhan.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the traditions, cultures, and contributions of Native Americans and Indigenous Peoples everywhere. Indigenous Peoples have inhabited North America, or Turtle Island, for thousands of years. Today, we honor their central role in the American story and continue to fight for justice.

Yesterday, ICE fired at least seven rounds at and wounded a man in New York City—all while his five-year-old son was in the back seat of the car. ICE has invaded our cities and unleashed violence everywhere they've gone. First Chicago, then Minneapolis, and now New York. We must cut off all funding for ICE & CBP until they end this reign of terror return to their original mission. I’m also cosponsoring the Ending Qualified Immunity for ICE Agents Act, to make sure we can hold the worst agents accountable.

My thoughts are with the family, friends, and colleagues of CTA janitor Julian Mobley, who was killed yesterday at a Green Line station. The perpetrator must be brought to justice. Every Chicagoan deserves to feel safe when using our city's public transportation. I've always fought for federal funding for the CTA, and I'll keep fighting to make sure our trains are safe, affordable, and accessible for everyone. https://t.co/uEjv7Z3uBC

Pete Hegseth’s decision to livestream an execution by firing squad is barbaric. Terrorist groups post executions online, Not civilized nations. We’re the United States of America, not ISIS. This absolutely must not happen, and Hegseth must be removed from his position immediately.

Trump’s economy is so terrible that he’s throwing measly checks at voters. With many Americans living paycheck to paycheck, $90 isn’t going to cut it. We need to end the war with Iran and bring prices down NOW. https://t.co/Hw8MaksYKH

Trump’s Attorney General Todd Blanche is weaponizing the DOJ to drum up false charges against an aide from Trump’s first term—all because she dared to tell the truth about January 6th. I was trapped in the House Gallery on January 6. No effort by Trump and his friends can erase what truly happened that day. To Ms. Hutchinson and everyone who has told the truth in the face of Trump’s threats: We’re not going to let you be silenced.

Three years ago today, Israel endured the worst attack on Jewish lives since the Holocaust. In the aftermath of the 2023 attack, we've seen a rise in antisemitism around the globe, including horrifying, violent assaults on Jewish individuals. It is imperative that we call out these acts when they occur and do our part to stamp out bigotry in all its forms. As we reflect, we must also recommit to a path forward that leads to peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
