As a physician, I know preparedness matters before a crisis strikes. Recent findings on high-risk lab equipment underscore the need to strengthen our defenses against biological threats. Reauthorizing PAHPA will help ensure our public health system and medical countermeasures are ready to protect Americans.
Congressmen Neal Dunn, M.D. (R-FL-02), and Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL-26) led over 20 members of Congress in a letter to House leadership urging changes to the Protect College Sports Act (S. 4668) before final House passage. The members support the effort to establish national standards for college athletics but raised concerns about Section 205, which would cap Power Four conference membership at 20 schools and require a school leaving one of those conferences to spend three years as an independent before joining another. They asked House leadership to remove or substantially amend the provision. “College athletics need clear national standards, and there is much in this bill that I support,” said Congressman Dunn. “But Congress should not decide how many schools can belong to a conference or make a university spend three years as an independent before it can join another. Universities and conferences need the flexibility to make those decisions in the best interests of their student-athletes.” In the letter to Speaker Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and Majority Whip Tom Emmer, the members wrote: “Conference membership should remain a matter for universities and conferences based on a range of factors including the needs of their student-athletes, geography, competition, media agreements, academic partnerships and relationships, and financial considerations.” Joining Congressmen Dunn and Díaz-Balart in signing the letter were Representatives Sheri Biggs (R-SC-03), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL-12), Vern Buchanan (R-FL-16), Scott Franklin (R-FL-18), Carlos Gimenez (R-FL-28), Mike Haridopolos (R-FL-08), Mark Harris (R-NC-08), Laurel Lee (R-FL-15), Addison McDowell (R-NC-06), Cory Mills (R-FL-07), Tim Moore (R-NC-14), Gregory Murphy (R-NC-03), Ralph Norman (R-SC-05), Jimmy Patronis (R-FL-01), John Rutherford (R-FL-05), Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL-27), Greg Steube (R-FL-17), William Timmons (R-SC-04), and Joe Wilson (R-SC-02). Great news for health care in Northwest Florida! @FloridaState and Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare have finalized their landmark FSU Health partnership, including the future hospital in Panama City Beach. This is an important step toward expanding access to high-quality care, training our next generation of health professionals, and bringing more advanced medical services closer to home.
Our team was proud to join Second Harvest of the Big Bend for the grand opening of its new facility last week. Serving 16 counties, Second Harvest distributed 18.9 million pounds of food last year—the equivalent of 15.7 million meals. This new facility will expand its capacity and bring Second Harvest closer to ensuring every family in the region has access to nutritious food.
Independent auto dealers are in Washington this week with a clear message: Americans deserve the right to repair the vehicles they own. Proud to see support for my REPAIR Act as we continue working to secure meaningful right-to-repair protections in surface transportation reauthorization. If you own your car, you should own its data.
Americans are already paying too much for prescription drugs. We shouldn’t allow practices to drive costs even higher or stand between patients and the medications they need. This week, I introduced the Patients Access to Specialty Pharmacy Act. It aims to increase competition and give patients greater choice in where they receive their specialty medications — regardless of a pharmacy’s affiliation with an insurer. More competition. More choice. Lower costs for American families.
This week, we honor our Gold Star Families and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their sacrifice—and the strength and resilience of the families they left behind—will never be forgotten. God bless our Gold Star Families.
Great news for FL-02! Congratulations to PanCare of Florida on receiving a $200,000 @HHSGov to support the MHAT Regional Training Collaborative! This investment will help strengthen mental health training and services in Northwest Florida and ensure our communities have access to the resources and support they need. Proud to see these federal dollars coming home to FL-02.
The SCORE Act’s advancement out of the @HouseCommerce was an important step toward stability and fairness in college athletics. I appreciate @SenAshleyMoody and @SenRickScott for working to strengthen the Senate’s Protect College Sports Act and address concerns. Now, Congress must get it done for student-athletes and Florida universities.
The 340B program helps hospitals and health care providers purchase prescription drugs at reduced prices to expand access to care. I’m proud to join the bipartisan SECURE 340B Act to protect patients, strengthen accountability and ensure the program works as Congress intended. The bill brings together providers, manufacturers, and clinics to advance meaningful reforms, protect access to care, and address concerns about rising health care costs.

Happy 79th birthday to the @usairforce 🇺🇸 We are grateful for the Airmen who defend our nation, advance American innovation, and preserve the freedom we cherish.
More great research happening right here in Northwest Florida. A $4.1 million federal investment at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering will support new technology to make America’s power grid stronger, more reliable, and better prepared to meet growing energy demand. Congratulations to the team in Tallahassee!

A good book makes any flight a little better! Great to see Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport and the Northwest Regional Library System team up to launch the new “FlyBrary.” Travelers can grab a book for the journey or leave one behind for the next passenger. Another great idea taking off in Northwest Florida!

We owe our veterans more than our gratitude - we owe them the care and support they earned through their service. It was great to see organizations from across Northwest Florida coming together in Panama City to connect veterans with resources and support.
200 cosponsors — and counting. I’m proud to see such strong bipartisan support for my Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act. Children born with congenital conditions deserve access to the medically necessary care they need to eat, speak, breathe, and thrive. Now, let’s get ELSA across the finish line.
Twenty-five years ago, our nation was forever changed. Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken on September 11, 2001, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the brave Americans who answered the call to serve in the years that followed. We will never forget.
