The top 0.1% of Americans have seen their wealth MORE THAN DOUBLE since 2019. The ultra-rich keep getting richer, while working people can barely afford the necessities. We need to pass my Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act, so we ALL can thrive.
Hegseth is starting up a new Department of Defense commission led by Elon Musk. Because we need more corruption and billionaire influence at the Pentagon. DOD should be protecting the American people, not lining the pockets of billionaire defense contractors. https://t.co/79853H8PCy
Tariffs may be Trump’s “favorite word,” but they certainly are NOT making working Americans any richer. Quite the opposite. We’ve got to get our country back on track. https://t.co/Qo53vl8WVn
We aren’t sounding the alarm just to create chaos. Tech leaders are collectively telling us that we are advancing AI technology too fast and that humans may be left out of the process if we don’t act now to regulate this industry. I’m calling on both Democrats and Republicans to support my National Charter built to rein in AI. It would ensure 24/7 oversight, safety mandates, and federal testing so that dangerous models aren’t in the hands of bad actors. The time to act is now. https://t.co/XfeyIciRxf
From slashing funding for research to restricting visas for students, Trump has hindered our ability to innovate. I visited UW to view some incredible doctoral projects, and I will continue to do everything I can in Congress to ensure this work can continue. https://t.co/0WcKnxw1Ql
Former FTC Chair Lina Khan is absolutely right. We need to enforce existing laws on the books so AI companies and executives don’t continue to operate without accountability. Congress must also regulate AI just like we have historically done with other emerging industries. https://t.co/kqsbQrdURT
Instead of spending $1.8 BILLION for Trump’s vanity projects (ballroom, Reflecting Pool, etc.), we could instead pay for: 600 million school lunches. 12 million Americans’ electric bills. 27,000 school teachers or firefighters. A year of free healthcare for 88,000 veterans.
You deserve policies to ensure that bringing an iced coffee to a job interview does not determine whether or not you can live a good life. https://t.co/NfCUqMYHyq
Jane’s record speaks for itself. She has served as a Civil Rights attorney, consumer advocate, San Francisco Supervisor, and the California Director for Bernie Sanders and the Working Families Party. When Jane says she will hold the insurance industry accountable, I believe her. I’m proud to endorse Jane Kim for Insurance Commissioner because she has been a proven watchdog for consumers before, and with every form of corruption living in our White House, this level of scrutiny is needed now more than ever.
ICYMI: I introduced a legislative framework to require every AI company operating in the U.S. to obtain a public charter, similar to how we regulate banks. It’s about time we hold AI companies accountable before they create harm rather than addressing abuses after the fact. https://t.co/rghRkxBg0f
It was a busy week in Seattle! Here are some of my highlights: First, I joined the ribbon cutting for the Pinehurst Station in North Seattle! This station will ease the commutes of thousands of people in our community. It was amazing to see this project come to fruition – years ahead of schedule! Next, I met with residents at Aljoya Thornton Place in Northgate to discuss their priorities and to share what I’m working on in Congress. I thank them for inviting me for this conversation and for showing up and engaging! Finally, I got to speak with incredibly bright students at @UWCSE and view some of their amazing doctoral projects! As the Trump administration dismantles our places of learning and limits pathways for students to study here, I remain committed to ensuring international students can stay and contribute to this country.
Our government is using facial recognition technology to track us, including ICE and CBP who have used it to target immigrants and people of color. We need a moratorium on our government’s use of this technology. https://t.co/CHVgf8yjN7
Gandhi has profoundly affected my life and I've studied his principles of Satyagraha, adherence to truth and nonviolent resistance. Today, on Gandhi Jayanti, let us celebrate Gandhiji and continue to fight nonviolently for the freedom of the least amongst us — for ALL of us. https://t.co/3bsxy0uyfy
NEW POD: I sat down with Emmy-winning journalist and founder of Apne Aap, Ruchita Gupta, who was a close friend and colleague of Gloria Steinem. This is a wonderful conversation that highlights Gloria’s wisdom and how we all can carry on her legacy. https://t.co/CTuLMsdbZG
3.5 million immigrants are projected to lose legal status by the end of 2028. That’s $79 billion in lost economic contributions and more than a million U.S. citizen kids who will be living with someone who has lost status. Republicans don’t give a damn about legal immigration.
What’s fake is Trump’s promise to lower costs. He might not want to believe it, but polling shows that 82% of Americans disapprove of how he is handling the cost of living. Between tariffs, forever wars, and cutting healthcare, he has massively failed working people. https://t.co/hO6eoVFYXO
When I say we need to hold powerful AI companies accountable, I’m talking about the billionaire CEOs who are running these firms for profit. The CEOs that are taking advantage of the employees working hard every day to advance technology. The CEOs that are ignoring calls from right inside their own companies. The CEOs that are brushing off employees desperately trying to implement safety measures and build this technology with strong guidelines for the work. We are ready for accountability.
@ClaireforNY knows firsthand what it means to fight for good wages, affordable housing, childcare, health care, and a better future for working families. She will be a fierce advocate for workers, fighting to strengthen and pass the PRO Act, implement universal rent control, advance a Green New Deal, and pass Medicare for All. I’m proud to endorse Claire because she understands that working people deserve a representative who has lived their struggles and will fight alongside them. She will be a powerful addition to our Caucus, and I look forward to welcoming her to Congress.

Today is Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, recognized as Gandhi Jayanti in India, and as the International Day of Non-Violence worldwide. In fact, satyagraha, Gandhi’s guiding philosophy, led me to start the Resistance Lab, which has now trained over 31,000 leaders in the exact kind of nonviolent resistance strategies that Gandhi practiced over 100 years ago. May his light guide us forward through darkness, as it has for generations. 💜
ICE has notified me that another person has died in their custody. This is the 58th death under ICE’s watch since Trump returned to office. That’s 58 too many. We need to dismantle ICE, eliminate private, for-profit detention centers, and reform our broken immigration system.
We cannot allow AI companies to continue their race to the bottom, leaving our economy, our livelihoods, and our communities to be collateral damage. It is time for major, structural change — and my AI Charter Act is the way to achieve that. https://t.co/gNWNXWNpJ2
I just released my framework for a new comprehensive way we can regulate AI and rein in Big Tech. Here’s how it would work. https://t.co/qYFbY1DWkn
AI executives insist companies can oversee their own safety while admitting to frequent breaches. The AI Charter replaces failed self-regulation with round-the-clock federal oversight, testing, and pre-approval, surprise stress tests, and a government-controlled kill switch.
Instead of trying to manage AI's dangers with technical rules that are obsolete before the ink dries, the AI Charter imposes bright line bans on risky systems. AI models that can go rogue, create catastrophic risks, replace skilled work, or exploit children would be illegal.
