As severe rainfall continues to move across Iowa this afternoon and evening, I urge everyone to follow guidance from local officials, avoid unnecessary travel, and keep aware of the forecast.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Ray Gaesser. He was an incredible leader for our state, and Iowa benefited greatly from his experience, wisdom, and passion for bettering the lives of our farmers. I am especially grateful to have worked with Ray through his service on my Agriculture Advisory Board. Lynette and I are praying for Ray’s family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Earlier this year the Administration delivered a historic win for farmers, energy producers, and drivers by releasing record level obligations for homegrown biofuels. At a time when our farm economy needs our help the most, I am concerned that changes to SRE exemptions would undermine domestic demand.
This morning, my staff attended the Kossuth Area Economic Development Corporation Annual Breakfast in Whittemore. Partnering with communities like Whittemore is vital to strengthen our Main Streets, grow our economy, and drive future investments. https://t.co/kNrYxAtDaQ
It was great to have Secretary of Education Linda McMahon in Fort Dodge to announce the historic first approval of the Workforce Pell Program — the Iowa Central Emergency Medical Technician Program. This is great news for the next generation of Iowans looking to enter the workforce!
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) applauded the House passage of the Stop Insider Trading Act, legislation he helped introduce earlier this year. The bill prohibits Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from purchasing individual stocks in publicly traded companies while serving in office. It also requires Members to provide at least seven days' public notice before selling any individual stocks, helping to prevent Members of Congress from profiting from insider information. “I have always believed that serving as a Member of Congress should be about service to the people, and should never be a profession where personal wealth can be made at the expense of our constituents,” said Rep. Feenstra. “Our constituents put faith in us to act as public servants, and this measure is an important step forward to restore that trust. I am proud to have helped lead this legislation and pleased to see it move to the Senate for consideration.” ###
I am pleased to see the Stop Insider Trading Act, which I co-sponsored, pass the House. Public service should always be about serving the people, not personal financial gain. Members of Congress should not be getting richer because of the office they hold.
This week, Team Feenstra had the joy of joining the kickoff games for the Iowa Girls State Softball Tournament in Fort Dodge, where nearly 40 teams competed across five classes! Iowa continues to lead the way in athletics, and I can’t wait to see how far these talented athletes go. Good luck to all the teams!
Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts, small businesses are seeing real relief—and you can hear it for yourself: “Following its [corporate tax rate] reduction to 21%, Sukup hired roughly 200 additional employees, growing our workforce by a third.” — Tom Mangan, President and CEO of Sukup Manufacturing Small businesses like Sukup Manufacturing are growing, hiring, and investing thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts!
I’m praying for everyone injured and for the family of the individual who tragically lost their life in yesterday’s devastating train crash in Arion. I’m grateful to the first responders who responded quickly and courageously to the scene. Please join me in keeping everyone affected in your prayers.
This summer, I welcomed my final cohort of interns as a Member of Congress. It has been a joy to have so many talented Iowans, students, and young professionals engage in public service, experience the federal policymaking process, and help serve Iowa’s Fourth District. Aubrey and Elle have played an essential role in our office. They have answered calls from constituents each day and ensured their voices and concerns are heard. I am incredibly grateful for their hard work, dedication, and service, and our entire team has been fortunate to have them with us.
Today, I had the honor of accepting the NCGA President’s Award in recognition of my advocacy for our corn growers and year-round E15. Representing the largest corn-producing district in the nation, I have seen firsthand the challenges facing our farmers. That’s why I was proud to help champion and pass year-round E15 in the House. Our work is far from done. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate to get this bill across the finish line and signed into law.
A huge congratulations to Plas-Tech Tooling in Garner for advancing to the semifinals of the Freedom 250 Patriot Pitch Competition! Selected from thousands of applicants, this competition recognizes the very best of America’s small businesses that drive innovation, create jobs, and fuel economic growth. I had the privilege to visit Plas-Tech Tooling, and have seen their incredible machining capabilities. Iowans like Dean and Marcia Sonquist are one of the many reasons our Main Streets thrive. Please join me in congratulating them on this outstanding achievement!
The RuralSTAMINA Biomanufacturing Research initiative, led by Iowa State, has been named as a NSF Regional Innovation Engine. This initiative will receive $15 million over the next 2 years to launch the NSF Biomanufacturing Engine which will aim to accelerate the bioeconomy by creating new economic opportunities for producers and communities across Iowa and Nebraska. This investment in creating new value-added products has the potential to grow to as much as $160 million over the next decade.

This week marks one year since Republicans prevented the largest tax increase in American history by passing the Working Families Tax Cuts. From doubling the death tax exemption and making the small business tax deduction permanent to eliminating taxes on tips and overtime, Republicans delivered meaningful tax relief to more than 97% of Americans. As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I was honored to help lead this effort and will continue fighting to keep taxes low for hardworking families, farmers, workers, and small businesses.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R–Hull) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has awarded more than $27 million in federal disaster recovery funding to communities across Northwest Iowa following devastating flooding, severe storms, and other natural disasters. The funding will support critical recovery efforts, including facilitation of the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and voluntary home buyouts of 247 properties throughout Northwest Iowa. Additionally, there is a release of Public Assistance program funds for helping families, local governments, and communities rebuild stronger while reducing future flood risks. "This funding is a major victory for Northwest Iowa and the result of relentless advocacy to ensure our communities receive the federal support they deserve," said Rep. Feenstra. "From bringing local leaders to Washington to meet directly with FEMA officials to working hand-in-hand with the Department of Homeland Security and local communities every step of the way, I have fought to deliver the resources needed to help Northwest Iowa recover, rebuild, and become more resilient. While there is more work ahead, I will continue doing everything I can to secure every available federal dollar for the families and communities impacted by these disasters." Following the devastating flooding in 2024, Congressman Feenstra coordinated and led meetings in Washington, D.C., between Rock Valley officials and FEMA leadership to advocate directly for Northwest Iowa's recovery needs. He has also worked directly with FEMA, the Department of Homeland Security, and local officials across the region to provide oversight of funding applications and ensure communities received their long-awaited federal assistance for recovery and long-term mitigation efforts. "This is really exciting news for our community,” said Mayor Kevin Van Otterloo. “We've been working toward this moment for a long time, and knowing that FEMA has obligated our home buyout application is a huge step forward for the families who have been waiting so patiently. I also want to extend a sincere thank you to Representative Randy Feenstra and his office staff. They have been incredibly helpful throughout this process, always willing to answer questions, provide guidance, and advocate on behalf of our community. We truly appreciate their partnership and support.” With today's announcement, Congressman Feenstra has now helped secure more than $100 million in FEMA disaster assistance for Iowa's Fourth Congressional District, providing critical support to repair infrastructure, protect homes and businesses, and strengthen communities against future natural disasters. The following FEMA grant awards have been approved or released for communities throughout Iowa's Fourth Congressional District and include, but are not limited to: The purchase of 104 properties, and release of over $22 million in support for the city of Rock Valley The purchase of one property, and the release of over $149,000 in support for the city of Sioux Rapids. The purchase of two properties, and the release of over $360,000 in support for the city of Hawarden. More than $1.34 million for Linn County to support recovery efforts. More than $3.5 million for the City of Rock Valley for debris removal and repair. More than $208,000 for Palo Alto County’s Drainage District. ###
@POTUS and @SecRollins have secured major relief for our farmers and producers. This latest executive action will save farmers billions of dollars and strengthen America’s fertilizer supply chain. I have long advocated for addressing the rising costs of fertilizer and will continue to work to lower the costs of inputs for our producers.
Great news for Iowa’s seniors! AmeriCorps has awarded more than $2.8 million in Iowa through the FY26 AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Grant Competition. This funding will help expand transportation services, intergenerational education, elder abuse and financial exploitation prevention, opioid prevention efforts, housing assistance, and other critical services that improve the lives of older Iowans.
I am honored to announce that communities in Northwest Iowa will receive more than $27 million in FEMA Disaster Relief funding for recovery following the devastating floods and other natural disasters, including $22 million for the City of Rock Valley. I have worked closely with local officials and FEMA in Washington, D.C., to help ensure our communities receive the support and resources they need to recover. Our work is not done. I will continue working with local, state, and federal officials to secure every federal dollar needed to help Northwest Iowa fully recover and rebuild.
With student-athletes now earning more than ever before, many are struggling with complicated tax obligations and aren't seeking financial counseling until it's too late. In Congress, it’s important that we help the next generation build financial literacy and better navigate the tax code so they can keep what they earn well beyond their school years.
I applaud President Trump and Sec. Rollins for releasing the Regenerative Feedstock rule and to ensure that farmers can see more benefit from biofuels policy like 45Z or year-round E15. These actions create new opportunities for our farmers, strengthen American energy independence, and ensure rural communities across Iowa continue to lead the way in feeding and fueling the world.
Today, Team Feenstra is volunteering at Iowa’s booth at the Great American State Fair. In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the Great American State Fair showcases the very best of each state, giving visitors to the capital the opportunity to experience each state. I hope those visiting take time to visit Iowa's booth!
Rural health care is the backbone of communities across Iowa. Representing one of the most rural districts in the nation, I know firsthand how essential it is to ensure access to quality care and keep our rural hospitals strong. That is why I was honored to introduce the Rural Community Hospital Demonstration Program Reauthorization Act alongside Senator @ChuckGrassley. https://t.co/Xe50Vu6eSo
