WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Trump Administration announced today that nearly $55 million in federal funding is being delivered to strengthen the rural healthcare workforce and expand access to maternal, emergency, and preventive care for Alabamians through the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP). The investment will support 34 grants to healthcare providers and institutions serving rural communities across Alabama. Projects will equip at least 20 rural hospitals with emergency labor and delivery resources; expand maternal-fetal medicine through telehealth and telerobotic ultrasound; strengthen trauma and stroke coordination and EMS treat-in-place services; expand mobile and community-based cancer screening; and build statewide healthcare workforce pipelines through Alabama's schools and community colleges. The Rural Health Transformation Program is expanding access to quality healthcare, regardless of a patient’s zip code, so rural Alabama mothers can get critical care closer to home, emergency teams can respond when every second counts, and more patients can detect cancer earlier, when treatment can be most effective. This funding will strengthen Alabama’s healthcare workforce, expand access to maternal, emergency, and preventive care, and bring modern technology and innovative services closer to patients across the state. “President Trump understands that every American deserves high-quality healthcare, no matter where they live,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. “We are putting resources directly into rural communities to strengthen the health workforce, modernize infrastructure, expand access, and bring care closer to home. We are giving states the flexibility to build solutions around the people they serve, while demanding accountability for results. That is how we strengthen rural health, improve the lives of patients and families, and Make America Healthy Again.” “Every state knows best what its rural communities need, and thanks to President Trump’s Rural Health Transformation Program, they now have the resources to meet those needs,” said CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz. “As states put these resources to work, we’re focused on turning these investments into meaningful, sustainable improvements for the health systems that serve rural Alabamians.” Today’s investment was made possible through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act — passed by Republicans in Congress and unanimously opposed by Democrats — delivering a historic $50 billion investment to help states transform the way healthcare is delivered in America. “Every Alabamian deserves access to quality care, and through the Rural Health Transformation Program, we are helping many providers and institutions improve healthcare for Alabamians throughout the state,” said Gov. Kay Ivey. “I commend all the thoughtful efforts, from the federal policymakers and state administrators to our professional healthcare leaders, who are working hard to ensure the long-term success of this program. Once again, the Trump Administration is delivering meaningful results for real Americans.” “I’m grateful to the Trump Administration for continuing to ensure that our rural hospitals have the resources they need to remain open and serve their communities. This funding is making a meaningful difference for rural communities across Alabama by supporting maternal and fetal health care, emergency medical services, cancer screenings, and rural health care workforce development. I’m proud to have voted for this historic investment, and I look forward to seeing it help ensure that Alabamians continue to receive quality health care,” said Rep. Robert Aderholt. "Investing in rural healthcare is crucial to improving health outcomes and patient care across Alabama, which is why I'm thrilled to see this latest round of grant funding. I'm thankful to President Trump and CMS Administrator Dr. Oz for prioritizing rural healthcare, and I look forward to continuing our work together,” said Sen. Katie Boyd Britt. “I appreciate President Trump making another extraordinary investment in our great state that will improve healthcare and expand opportunities for many Alabamians, especially those living in rural areas,” said Sen. Tommy Tuberville. “Rural healthcare providers are lifelines for communities across Alabama, but too many rural families still face long distances and limited access to critical care. This nearly $55 million investment will strengthen maternal and fetal care, emergency medical services, cancer screening and early detection, our rural healthcare workforce, and the technology providers rely on to serve their patients. I’m grateful to President Trump, Dr. Oz, and the Administration for working with Alabama to make these practical investments and help ensure Alabamians can receive quality care closer to home,” said Rep. Barry Moore. “I am excited to see another round of rural healthcare grants coming to the state of Alabama,” said Rep. Mike Rogers. “Rural healthcare is an issue that affects every Alabamian, and these grants from the Trump Administration will greatly improve outcomes for patients in our state. Rural counties have never had a stronger ally in the White House.” “I applaud the Trump Administration for moving quickly to deliver Rural Health Transformation Program funding that Republicans in Congress secured through the Working Families Tax Cuts,” said Rep. Dale Strong. “For rural communities across Alabama, this investment means better care closer to home, a stronger pipeline of doctors and nurses, expanded mental health services, and stronger rural hospitals and health care providers.” “This investment will have a direct impact on the health and well-being of Alabamians living in rural communities,” said Rep. Gary Palmer. “From improving maternal and emergency care to expanding cancer screening and early detection, these grants will help ensure patients can receive critical care closer to home. I am pleased to see the Rural Health Transformation Program continuing to deliver resources that strengthen healthcare across Alabama.” Today’s announcement, one part of the larger overall funding amount awarded to Alabama for fiscal year 2026, completes Alabama’s initial Year 1 award cycle. Key initiatives in Alabama supported by RHTP funding include:
For 50 years, the Hyde Amendment has safeguarded unborn children and ensured Americans aren’t forced to fund abortion. I am proud to stand for these commonsense protections and remain committed to fighting in Congress to protect unborn lives and uphold the conscience rights of taxpayers.

WASHINGTON, D.C – Congressman Robert Aderholt, Chairman of the House Values Action Team (VAT), calls for the immediate release of political prisoners ahead of Chairman Xi Jinping’s visit to the United States. “The Chinese Communist Party’s detention of many political prisoners, including Dr. Gulshan Abbas, Jimmy Lai, Ilham Tohti, and unjustly imprisoned members of the Zion Beijing Church, the ‘Zion 8,’ is an offense against freedom and international human rights,” said Chairman Aderholt. “The United States must stand and speak up for people of faith everywhere in the world and I call for their immediate release.” “Earlier this summer, I had the honor of meeting Pastor Ezra Jin, who was arrested and imprisoned by the CCP for over 250 days for preaching the Gospel before his release in early July. While we celebrate that Pastor Jin is now free and has been reunited with his family in the United States, China’s unjust persecution of other leaders continues.” The “Zion 8” church members who remain in Chinese custody include Wang Lin, Yin Huibin, Gao Yingjia, Wang Cong, Wu Qiuyu, Elder Wang Zhong, Lin Shucheng, and Liu Zhenbin. Dr. Gulshan Abbas is a Uyghur doctor who has been unjustly imprisoned since 2018. Mr. Jimmy Lai remains unjustly imprisoned after 6 years. And Mr. Ilham Tohti, who was awarded the Sakharov Prize in absentia in 2019, has been unjustly imprisoned for 12 years. “President Trump’s meeting with Chairman Xi this week offers a critical opportunity to address the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of people of faith and request the immediate release of the leaders still detained. The United States will always stand up for those persecuted by the CCP for their religious and political views.”
Thanks to President Trump and the Rural Health Transformation Program, Alabama is receiving $203 million to invest in new ways to bring better care closer to home. It was an honor to sit down with @DrOzCMS and discuss this huge win for the residents of our rural counties who often struggle to access adequate healthcare.

WASHINGTON —A new report from the U.S. government’s nonpartisan watchdog agency revealed that federal taxpayers subsidized 1,719 Affordable Care Act (ACA) Qualified Health Plans (QHPs) that covered elective abortions for an estimated 4.4 million individuals this year alone. The report also showed that 683 more abortion-covering QHPs were available through the ACA than when GAO issued a similar brief in 2014. The recent report, compiled by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), was requested by House and Senate majority leadership, Co-Chairs of the House and Senate Congressional Pro-Life Caucus and Values Action Teams, and Chairmen of the House and Senate Committees of jurisdiction. Upon the release of the report—first reported by The Daily Wire—Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-AL), Chairman of the House Values Action Team (VAT), and Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Co-Chair of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, issued the following statement: “For far too long, pro-life Americans have been deceived by the ACA and strongarmed into paying for health plans that do not respect the sanctity of life. American taxpayers deserve complete transparency and truthfulness as to where their hard-earned dollars are going—and under the ACA as it currently stands, that’s just not possible. “Today’s GAO report confirms the very concerns that Republicans have raised for over fifteen years: the ACA fails to apply the longstanding and bipartisan Hyde Amendment law, which protects taxpayer dollars from funding abortion, both directly and through federal health plans. “The ACA allows premium tax credits to be directed towards health insurance coverage that includes elective abortion. Federal taxpayer dollars—even from individuals living in pro-life states—are subsidizing plans that include elective abortion coverage for over 4.4 million people. “The report also found that some insurance issuers failed to comply with the ACA’s consumer transparency provision, which requires plans to prominently disclose abortion coverage. “As we approach the 50th anniversary of the Hyde Amendment on September 30th—which is estimated to have saved the lives of over 2.6 million children (about 60,000 lives per year)—we renew the call to enforce this critical, lifesaving protection within the ACA without further delay. Taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize plans that cover the elective killing of an unborn child by dismemberment or baby poison pills. “Moreover, until Congress can pass legislation requiring full Hyde protections for all ACA plans, we urge the Trump Administration to reissue the Exchange Program Integrity Final Rule to ensure that consumers understand whether a plan subsidizes elective abortion.” Members of Congress who signed the GAO request letter: House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA); Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD); House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA); Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso, M.D. (R-WY); House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN); House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-MI); House Pro-Life Caucus Co-Chairs: Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (R-MD), Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-MN), Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL), Rep. Bob Onder (R-MO); Senate Pro-Life Caucus Chairwoman Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS); House Values Action Team Chairman Robert Aderholt (R-AL); Senate Values Action Team Chairman James Lankford (R-OK); Senate Finance Committee Chairman Mike Crapo (R-ID); Senate HELP Committee Chairman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA); House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Brett Guthrie (R-KY); and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO). ###

Image September 10, 2026 HALEYVILLE, AL – Today, Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) joined Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Tom Engels, for a Rural Healthcare Champions Recognition Event at Lakeland Community Hospital. “Today, it was an honor to join HRSA Administrator Tom Engels as we celebrated an important milestone for rural healthcare and the communities that depend on it. It was, of course, extra special to be making this announcement in my hometown of Haleyville and at my hometown hospital, Lakeland. “President Trump and his Administration have made strengthening rural healthcare a priority, and I’m proud to have worked with them to advance this important effort. This initiative reflects a deliberate commitment to ensuring our rural hospitals have the resources they need to survive and serve their communities. “As Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee overseeing health funding, I was proud to secure and advance the Rural Hospital Provider Assistance Program through the Fiscal Year 2026 Consolidated Appropriations Act. Through this program, eligible hospitals will receive direct financial assistance to help maintain and strengthen essential healthcare services. “Almost 30 rural hospitals in Alabama were eligible to apply for the grant: Atmore Community Hospital, Bibb Medical Center, Bullock County Hospital, Clay County Hospital, Community Hospital Inc, Crenshaw Community Hospital, D W McMillan Memorial Hospital, EAMC-Lanier, Evergreen Medical Center, Fayette Medical Center, Grove Hill Medical Center, Highlands Medical Center, Hill Hospital of Sumter County, Jackson Medical center, John Paul Jones Hospital, Lake Martin Community Hospital, Lakeland Community Hospital, Marion Regional Medical Center, Mizell Memorial Hospital, Monroe Community Hospital, North Baldwin Infirmary, Northwest Medical Center, Regional Medical Center of Central AL, Russell Medical Center, Russellville Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital, Troy Regional Medical Center, Whitfield Regional Hospital, and Wiregrass Medical Center. “This grant was designed to provide support specifically to small rural hospitals — those that have no more than 50 beds — facing payment disadvantages, with the goal of preserving essential healthcare services and preventing avoidable closures. This is a critical need for our rural communities, those like the ones here in Winston County and the surrounding region that Lakeland serves. “Today, we announced that through the Alabama Rural Health Transformation Program, Lakeland Community Hospital is receiving $490,800 to expand telehealth and establish a non-emergency transportation program for rural patients. Rural families deserve the same access to care as those living in larger cities, and that belief has guided my work throughout my service in Congress. That commitment has meant working directly with hospitals, healthcare providers, and federal agencies to address challenges threatening the long-term viability of rural healthcare. “Our work is not over though. The Fiscal Year 2027 Labor HHS funding bill advanced by the subcommittee also includes significant increases for key rural health initiatives, including expanding the Rural Hospital Provider Assistance Program from $25 million to $100 million. “Rural hospitals are essential to the health and well-being of our communities, and I look forward to seeing this investment help ensure Alabamians, and rural citizens across the country, can continue to receive quality healthcare close to home.” Issues:Health Care
Charlie Kirk was a bright light in a very dark world. He has been gone for a year now, and while we all wish he were still here, his message lives on and his influence is still felt. When I think of Charlie, I’m reminded of the gospel song ‘Is He Worthy?’ and the words, ‘But do you know that all the dark won’t stop the light from getting through? We do.’ Charlie understood that the light of Christ can overcome any darkness, and he dedicated his life to sharing that light with others. One year later, that light continues to shine.

I was proud join my @HouseGOP colleagues to vote today to condemn socialism and to reaffirm that America's future must remain rooted in individual liberty, constitutional government and free enterprise. https://t.co/1t2je64KNq
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) today voted in favor of a House resolution condemning socialism in all its forms and denouncing the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists of America and their radical agenda. “Socialism does not have a good track record, and history has shown us the consequences when government is given control over the economy and the lives of its citizens,” said Congressman Aderholt. “Under Marxist ideology, everyone shares the poverty. Under capitalism, everyone has the opportunity to share the wealth. “When I was growing up, opposition to communism and Marxism was not a Republican or Democrat issue. Americans understood that these ideologies were fundamentally incompatible with individual liberty, private property and free enterprise. Unfortunately, some of those lessons appear to be fading from our national memory. “The Democratic Socialists of America are no longer simply advocating for a larger government. Their agenda calls for fundamental changes to our constitutional system and greater government control over major sectors of the American economy. These are ideas that Americans should take seriously and reject. “America does not need socialism to address the challenges facing working families. We need policies that give Americans greater opportunity to work, invest, build businesses and succeed. Our free-enterprise system is not perfect, but people throughout history have risked everything to escape socialism for the freedom and opportunity America provides. “I was proud to vote today to condemn socialism and to reaffirm that America's future must remain rooted in individual liberty, constitutional government, and free enterprise.” H. Res. 1490 condemns and denounces socialism in all its forms, including the Democratic Socialists of America, and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States. The resolution also reaffirms support for free, fair and secure elections and the principle that American elections are for American citizens.
The Trump Administration announced today that a $144 million investment is being delivered to improve health outcomes for Alabamians through the federal Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) This investment will support 138 grants to expand access to care, modernize healthcare technology and infrastructure and strengthen the rural healthcare workforce. This funding will help rural providers modernize their technology and cybersecurity, enhance telehealth and mobile care services, strengthen emergency and maternal care, and improve access to mental health and substance use care. The Trump Administration is also investing in expanding the healthcare workforce through training, scholarships, apprenticeships, and recruitment efforts, while helping local providers strengthen community-based care and better coordinate services. These investments will help make healthcare more accessible, connected, secure and sustainable across Alabama regardless of your zip code. That is how we strengthen rural health, improve the lives of patients and families, and Make America Healthy Again.” “President Trump made a historic commitment to rural America, and these investments are turning that commitment into better care for patients in communities across Alabama,” said Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz. “This is what rural health transformation should look like: federal investment that is putting patients first, driving lasting improvements and expanding healthcare for the hardworking Americans who call these communities home.” Today’s investment was made possible through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act— passed by Republicans in Congress and unanimously opposed by Democrats — delivering a historic $50 billion investment to help states transform the way healthcare is delivered in America. “Alabama is serious about creating systematic changes through the ARHTP to ensure every citizen has access to quality care. This program is enabling institutions covering every part of the state to improve healthcare for Alabamians through projects that are both innovative and sustainable,” said Gov. Kay Ivey. “From the federal policymakers and state administrators to our professional healthcare leaders, I commend all the thoughtful work dedicated to ensuring the success of this program.” "The Rural Health Transformation Program reflects a deliberate commitment by President Trump and his administration to ensuring our rural hospitals have the resources they need to survive and serve their communities. Representing one of the more rural congressional districts in America has taught me that where a person lives should never determine the quality of healthcare they receive or the opportunities available to them," said Rep. Robert Aderholt. "I am proud of this historic investment that will improve healthcare access, quality and outcomes for Alabama’s rural communities and look forward to seeing improvements across the state." "Investing in rural healthcare is critical to making sure every Alabamian, regardless of their zip code, has access to high-quality healthcare. I’m thankful to the Trump Administration for continuing to recognize this and invest in our communities. I was proud to vote for this funding, and I look forward to seeing how this investment improves the lives of people across our state," said Sen. Katie Boyd Britt. “There has been no greater champion for rural America than President Trump,” said Sen. Tommy Tuberville. “This $144 million investment that the Trump administration is making in rural healthcare will make a real difference in the lives of thousands of Alabamians. I’m grateful to President Trump, Secretary Kennedy, and CMS Administrator Dr. Oz for their leadership on this and look forward to Alabama reaping the benefits of this important investment.” “Too many families in rural Alabama have had to travel too far or waited too long to get the care they need. President Trump understands that rural communities deserve the same access to quality healthcare as Americans anywhere else, and this investment will help make that a reality,” said Rep. Barry Moore. “By strengthening our rural healthcare workforce, expanding mental health and emergency services, and giving local providers the tools they need to modernize, we are investing in the people and communities that make Alabama strong. I’m proud to join President Trump and Republicans in Congress delivering real results for rural Alabama and putting patients first.” “President Trump continues to establish himself as the strongest advocate Alabama has ever had in the White House,” said Rep. Mike Rogers. “This investment is a huge win for the residents of our rural counties who often struggle to access adequate healthcare. The Trump Administration promised to Make America Healthy Again, and they are delivering yet again.” “The Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress provided Alabama with more than $203 million in federal funding, and Governor Ivey and state leaders are putting those dollars to work on priorities identified right here at home,” said Rep. Dale Strong. “From modernizing rural hospitals and expanding mental health services to training the next generation of doctors and nurses, this investment is delivering real results for rural communities across our state.” “Having proposed the inclusion of the Rural Health Transformation Fund into the Working Family Tax Cuts Act, I am proud to see this investment now making a real difference for communities across Alabama,” said Rep. Gary Palmer. “Rural communities have faced challenges accessing quality healthcare and attracting and retaining healthcare professionals for too long. This funding will help Alabama strengthen its rural healthcare workforce, expand access to critical services, and give providers the tools they need to better serve their patients. I am grateful to President Trump and his Administration for working with Congress to turn this idea into action and invest in the long-term health of rural America.”
Very sorry to hear of the passing of country music legend Dolly Parton. She brought decades of joy to millions of fans around the world. And was just a great human being. While she is now gone, her music will echo through Appalachia and the world forever.
Cullman, AL —Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) released the following statement on the passing of Roy Drinkard of Cullman, a World War II veteran, businessman and longtime community leader. Drinkard was 106 years old. “Caroline and I were so sad to learn of the passing of our friend, Mr. Roy Drinkard. Roy lived 106 remarkable years, and it would be difficult to measure the impact he had on Cullman, our state and the countless people who had the privilege of knowing him. “Roy was part of a generation of Americans who understood service as a responsibility. As a young man, he served our nation as a United States Marine during World War II, including service in the Pacific. That commitment to service continued throughout the rest of his life, whether it was through his work in business, his efforts to bring new jobs and opportunities to North Alabama, his support for education, or the many ways he helped people throughout his community. “Roy had an entrepreneurial spirit and a vision for what Cullman could become. His work with the ‘Flying 50’ and his nearly three decades leading the Cullman Industrial Development Board helped transform the local economy and attract new industry to the area. But his impact reached far beyond Cullman. In fact, many people may not realize that the new movie theater in Albertville, in Marshall County, is a Roy Drinkard development. It is just one example of the investments he made in communities across North Alabama and throughout the Southeast. “He was also a longtime trustee of Troy University and believed strongly in education and creating opportunities for the next generation. Over the years, his generosity helped provide educational opportunities for many young people. “His list of accomplishments is long, but those accomplishments are not what I will remember most about Roy. I will remember the man himself. Roy was a good man, a man of faith and a good friend. He had a genuine interest in people, and no matter who you were, he had a way of making you feel welcome. “Even at 106, Roy remained an extraordinary representative of the United States Marine Corps and of the World War II generation. He was recently inducted into the Cullman Veterans Hall of Fame, and at the time of his passing held the distinction of being the oldest living United States Marine. “Caroline and I are grateful for Roy’s friendship and for the example he set during a life that spanned more than a century. We are praying for the Drinkard family and for the many people across Alabama who are mourning his loss. “Roy, while we are sad at your passing, we take comfort in knowing you are now celebrating in the presence of the Lord. You lived a life of service to your country, your community and your fellow man, and you will be greatly missed.”
Caroline and I are so saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Roy Drinkard, who, at 106 years old, was the oldest living United States Marine. Mr. Drinkard was many things: a World War II veteran, a successful businessman, a visionary, a philanthropist, and so much more. But beyond all of those accomplishments, Roy was simply a good man and a good friend. I’m grateful to have known him, and even more grateful to have been able to call him my friend. Caroline and I are keeping his family and all those who loved him in our prayers.
HUNTSVILLE, AL — Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) joined fellow members of Alabama’s congressional delegation and Auburn University leaders Tuesday to celebrate the grand opening of the Auburn University Applied Research Institute Lab in Huntsville, highlighting the university’s growing role in strengthening America’s national defense and advancing cutting-edge technology. Aderholt was joined at the August 18 event by U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville, Congressman Mike Rogers, Congressman Dale Strong, and his wife, Caroline Aderholt, who serves on the Auburn University Board of Trustees. “This new facility represents the forward-thinking collaboration that keeps Alabama as a cornerstone of America’s defense industry,” said Congressman Aderholt. “Auburn continues to demonstrate how academic excellence, innovative research, and a commitment to service can come together to address the real-world needs of our warfighters and strengthen our national security.” Aderholt has championed Auburn University’s work on the Pathfinder Multi-domain Operations program through directed appropriations. The program connects Auburn students and researchers with the needs of American soldiers, helping develop solutions to immediate battlefield challenges while providing students with hands-on experience supporting the nation’s armed forces. “The Pathfinder Program has proven invaluable to our warfighters while creating a unique opportunity for Auburn students to put their talents to work in service to our country,” Aderholt said. “It is exactly the kind of partnership we should be encouraging—one that strengthens our national security while preparing the next generation of American innovators.” The new Auburn University Applied Research Institute facility builds upon Alabama’s longstanding leadership in defense, aerospace, engineering, cybersecurity, and advanced technology. Located in Huntsville, the institute further connects Auburn’s research capabilities with the defense and technology community that has made North Alabama one of the nation’s most important centers for national security innovation. “Auburn University is one of the proud pillars of innovation in our state, and this new facility is another example of Alabama leading the way,” Aderholt said. “From advanced engineering and cybersecurity to defense research, Auburn is turning world-class academic expertise into practical results. I am proud to support that work and look forward to seeing what will be accomplished here in the years ahead.” The Auburn University Applied Research Institute represents a continued investment in defense research and advanced technology development, further strengthening Alabama’s contribution to the nation’s defense industrial base.
