Anne Arundel County, I am humbly asking for you to please join me in voting for Sheriff Everett Sesker for re-election! Over the years, I have seen Sheriff Sesker modernize the department, deepen the office’s connections in the community, and show up for our neighbors on their hardest days. Make your plan to vote on or before November 3rd: https://t.co/upaQDxvATu

🍎On World Teachers Day, we recognize the hardworking educators who inspire and grow the minds of the next generation. As a proud public school graduate, I know firsthand just how important our educators are. Thank you to all of the teachers in Maryland and across our country for your tireless service to our communities each and every day!

🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride, Annapolis! A little rain couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of hundreds of neighbors coming together to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community and standing up in the fight for love, acceptance, and equality for all. Especially in the midst of the weaponization of intolerance and division coming out of Washington, I’m so proud of the resilience of @AnnapolisPride and this year’s parade theme: United in Pride. Let’s continue to show up, speak up, vote, and ensure our communities and government embody the very values celebrated today. Special shoutout to Annapolis Pride Board Chair Jake Trudeau and the team on a wildly successful Pride!

Did you know that if you start voting at an early age, you’re more likely to continue voting as you get older? Last week, I spoke with 100 bright, passionate students at the Annapolis High School Election Fair about the importance of civic participation and answered some of their insightful questions – everything from how they can get involved to how Congress is different from what they learned in school. Thank you, Panthers, for having me!

I refuse to wake up on November 4th wishing I’d done more: more door knocking, more phone calls, more work to ensure Marylanders had the opportunity to have their voice heard on Election Day. If you feel the same, there’s still time to sign up and volunteer with us for the next 30 days! https://t.co/Z0eAph8soX

As the President tries to pawn off our public lands and waters to the lowest bidders, large corporations are entering the field. I sat down with @oceana to discuss how we can protect the Chesapeake Bay and our other crucial waterways from private interests that care more about making a profit from offshore mining than protecting our natural treasures.

Every year, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, LIHEAP, keeps nearly 6 million households across our country safe and warm through our harshest winters. But after the Trump Administration fired nearly all LIHEAP staff last year, the release of these crucial funds was significantly delayed – leaving many families struggling to heat their homes, especially with skyrocketing energy costs. I’ve joined over 110 of my colleagues in urging the Administration to release funds on time because our neighbors should not have to struggle to stay warm.

#TeamElfreth fellows and I lent our support for Lower Shore candidates who refuse to be outworked even in the dreariest of weather! 🌧️We talked to voters alongside an Emerge Maryland sister Megan Outten, running for Wicomico County Council, as well as Dan Schwartz for Congress, Josh Hastings for State Delegate, Erin Shea Patterson for County Council, and more. Rain or shine, it was clear that these Do-Something Democrats have an affirmative, exciting vision for the Shore that is breaking through. Missed us? There is no shortage of challenges in front of us – from high prices at the grocery store, to never-ending illegal wars abroad, to housing shortages right here at home. In this moment, it takes a special kind of public servant to step up and say they are ready for the fight. I have seen Janssen Evelyn at work in both Howard and Anne Arundel Counties where he has led on the nuts-and-bolts of good government. It’s not the work that gets flashy headlines or goes viral on social media, but it is the work that makes a difference for our neighbors. That is how I know Janssen is ready on day 1 to hit the ground running on the Howard County Council!

Improving public safety, protecting our immigrant neighbors from the weaponization of ICE, expanding health care options, and revitalizing Coast Guard Yard Baltimore: just some of the topics covered in #TeamMaryland’s meeting with @MayorBMScott! Especially amid funding cuts and chaos from Washington, I’m grateful that Team Maryland continues to work in lockstep and strategize ways we can invest in our communities at the local and federal level to support our regional economy and expand opportunities for our neighbors.

I’ve had the privilege and honor of serving alongside @Wu4Delegate in the Maryland General Assembly. I have seen him serve his constituents with care and compassion as he brings his lived experience as a scientist, father, and community leader to the job. But Chao’s service has not come without challenges. He has faced ugly attacks rooted in the worst of political rhetoric – xenophobia, racism, and division. I’m incredibly proud of how Chao and his colleagues have responded, because it reflects what makes Maryland great. Leaders from across the state stood up and made clear that this behavior was unacceptable. Chao’s voice, perspective, and work are invaluable. Our state is stronger when our government reflects the people and experiences that make up our community. That is why we will send Delegate Chao Wu back to Annapolis in November! Fomenting culture wars and attacking the diversity of our troops will never make our country safer or stronger – it will only divide us. Dick Franyo and the entire Boatyard team created something bigger than a restaurant: they’ve raised over $7 million for Chesapeake Bay restoration, accessible boating, and programs to get young people out on the water. That’s commitment to our community - something to cheers to!

From food banks helping our hungriest neighbors to health centers, universities, and more, nonprofit organizations are a vital part of our country. Over the past 21 months, we’ve seen unprecedented attempts by the Trump Administration to target, undermine, and silence these organizations for simply serving our neighbors and encouraging lawful civic engagement. Congress must reassert our Article I authority to check President Trump’s attacks on these institutions. Read the report: https://t.co/4v3CU5ccvO

Press Release
Maryland Delegation and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott Meet to Discuss Baltimore City Priorities

WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth (MD-03), members of Maryland’s Congressional Delegation, and Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott held a meeting at the United States Capitol to discuss their work on a range of priorities for Baltimore residents, including affordable housing, transportation, public safety, healthcare, and more. “Amid funding cuts and chaos from Washington, Mayor Scott has led the City of Baltimore with a steady hand and worked diligently to expand health care coverage, protect our immigrant neighbors, strengthen public safety, and so much more. I was grateful for the opportunity to discuss the investments we can make together at the local and federal level to invest in the Port of Baltimore and our regional economy to expand opportunities for Maryland families,” said Congresswoman Elfreth. “Improving life for Baltimore residents is one of our top shared priorities, and I appreciate Mayor Scott’s partnership and the work being done across the city under his leadership. Yesterday’s meeting was an opportunity to discuss our efforts on behalf of the people of Baltimore – from strengthening public safety, to updating our infrastructure, to creating greater economic opportunity. This work is all the more important as the Trump Administration continues to attack our communities and essential programs that serve the City. I will continue to fight alongside Federal Team Maryland to deliver for Baltimore and to make progress on our shared goals to continue moving the City forward,” said Senator Van Hollen. “I say it all the time: Baltimore has the best federal delegation in the country, and meetings like this one underscore their commitment to our city,” said Mayor Scott. “Each and every day, we're seeing the impact of investments they've secured, from our public safety progress, to our housing investments, to new schools, rec centers, and more all across Baltimore. Especially as we deal with an administration that's actively sabotaging cities across the country, we are so grateful to have this delegation fighting for us in Washington.” “We’ve seen the news of continued progress in Baltimore, on everything from gun violence to how the Port of Baltimore continues to thrive, and it’s a story to be proud of. The city and its leadership have proven how success happens when you plan effectively and when you’re prepared to respond to the unexpected. Baltimore has shown the nation what you can accomplish when you stick together. Team Maryland on Capitol Hill is committed to fighting for Baltimore and working together. We will continue to find areas where we can coordinate effectively, and we’ll continue to do all we can to make sure Baltimore and all of Maryland has everything needed to thrive,” said Senator Alsobrooks. “I was glad to join my colleagues in the Maryland Congressional Delegation to meet with Mayor Scott and discuss the achievements, challenges, and top priorities for the greater Baltimore area. I applaud Mayor Scott for his leadership that has had impacts far beyond the region. Our partnership is critical to ensuring Marylanders across the state can benefit from a growing and vibrant economy, and Team Maryland remains committed to working together to improve the safety and livelihood of all who call Maryland home,” said Congressman Hoyer. “It was a productive opportunity for our Congressional delegation to meet with Mayor Scott again to discuss our priorities and the critical issues facing Baltimoreans today," said Congressman Mfume. "We discussed ongoing efforts to improve public safety, progress on the Key Bridge rebuild and B&P Tunnel, and the escalating negative impacts that the Big Ugly Bill is having on our Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP benefits. I am incredibly proud to be a part of a team that is committed to working together to tackle difficult problems and deliver meaningful results for the people of our City and our State.” “I’m grateful for Mayor Scott’s steady vision and partnership so we can keep delivering for Marylanders,” said Congressman Raskin. “From Baltimore to Bethesda, the tie that binds us is delivering services, lowering costs and protecting the rights of our people across the Free State as ICE and Border Patrol continue their reign of lawlessness and chaos in our communities." “It was good to continue our focus on affordability and economic opportunities for folks in the greater Baltimore area and across the great state of Maryland with Mayor Scott and my colleagues in the Maryland Delegation. We look forward to assisting our state and local partners in ameliorating the economic climate through these very tough times,” said Congressman Ivey. “We must meet these challenges head on in unity of purpose. Today’s meeting reaffirms that continued aim.” “The biggest priority for Baltimore families is the same as it is for families everywhere: lowering costs and making sure they have a fair shot at building a good life,” said Congressman Olszewski. “I appreciated the opportunity to connect with Mayor Scott and my colleagues on how we can better partner across all levels of government to deliver on that priority.” ###

Dan Schwartz is a father, husband, and consumer watchdog who has stepped up to fight for a better First District. The Port of Baltimore and Maryland’s maritime ecosystem is resilient. Even in the face of the President’s illegal war and reckless economic policies, Maryland’s maritime industry will endure thanks to the hard work of #TeamMaryland and our partners who are committed to restoring our shipbuilding and manufacturing to the thriving industries they’ve been for our region. The Port of Baltimore has been able to survive ups and downs of the economy for over 100 years. Now, the President’s economic strategy that prioritizes tariffs over jobs is adding additional hardship. The President’s ongoing, illegal war in Iran is now driving up the cost to ship everything, which directly impacts our port and our economy. But Team Maryland will be able to overcome that. We sat down with the @portofbalt, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, ILA Local 333, Ports America Chesapeake, and Tradepoint Atlantic to strategize how we can reinvest in our shipbuilding and maritime workforce for our national security and economy. To write the future of the Port of Baltimore, we will be taking inspiration from what once was – back to the Baltimore clippers and the hundreds of Liberty ships built during World War II. Because it is time for Maryland to lead in shipbuilding and maritime manufacturing once again.

NEW: The Trump Administration is considering handing over 17,000+ acres of public land across six states to build dozens of new data centers. Over the past 21 months, we’ve seen unprecedented attempts by this Administration to politicize, privatize, and profit off of our public lands – and this is no exception. After our Interfaith Advisory Council, it was clear we needed to convene not only our faith leaders – but also young people – to be part of the conversation on how we can support our neighbors of all faiths. We hosted our very first #MD03 Interfaith Youth Day in Washington, which brought together Baha'i, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim youth from every corner of the District to Washington to connect and engage in our democratic process. Especially during these unprecedented times, our houses of worship give so many a space for hope, peace, and acceptance. I’ll continue fighting to ensure Marylanders of all faiths can be safe and feel safe in their houses of worship.

Campaigns are about the community, not a candidate. Delegate Natalie Ziegler embodies this mantra. Owning and operating her family’s own farm in Western Howard County for decades and as co-chair of the first ever Bipartisan Rural Caucus in the Maryland House of Delegates, Natalie works across the aisle to do what’s best for all her neighbors – no matter their political affiliation.
