Hey, Delaware — Election Day is just three weeks away! Do you have a voting plan yet? Save this post, send it to a friend or neighbor, and check https://t.co/9gLljU0FmM for your early voting site and polling place. I’ll see you at the polls! https://t.co/JujjCyyMe8
I visited the Freeman Arts Pavilion, a newly completed venue that will bring educational arts experiences and world-class performances to Sussex County and surrounding regions. It was great to hear from the Freeman Arts leadership team about their efforts to continue expanding access to arts and cultural programming across our communities, and I’m looking forward to seeing their growth.
I joined @JohnCarneyDE alongside other state and local leaders to celebrate the new, affordable 0% mortgage homes Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County (HFHNCC) are constructing in Wilmington. For 40 years, HFHNCC has helped Delawareans build a sustainable pathway to homeownership, and I’m grateful for their dedication to placing our neighbors in safe homes.
In all seriousness, these bot farms are engaging in psychological warfare, fostering division, radicalization, and negative polarization that are cancerous to the body politic in a democratic society. Authoritarianism binds the nation through fear, but democracy binds the nation through faith: in your neighbors’ better angels and your own capacity to tap them. Authoritarians have realized they can erode the faith and functionality of democracy through a mirage of division that stokes real division. This dynamic is often whispered about in the corridors of power throughout the transatlantic alliance. But leaders have been wary to emphasize it for fear of sounding conspiratorial. Fortunately, that is changing. I was glad to see @andyburnham say it clearly to @campbellclaret recently re: Brexit. We shouldn’t shy away from it in the US for fear of Trump mocking it as a “Russian hoax” while he benefits from the bot farms and rewards Putin with more money to fight Ukraine. We must speak clearly on this threat and get a handle on it. Any Big Tech regulation by the US, UK, and EU must grapple with foreign interference through social media.
This Indigenous Peoples' Day, we honor and recognize the Lenape and Nanticoke peoples, whose ancestral lands include Delaware, and whose resilience and contributions have long enriched our state. For them, and Indigenous communities across the country, we celebrate the enduring legacy and traditions that preceded our nation's founding today and every day.
Trump cares more about sending his weaponized DOJ after a duly elected member of Congress than he does fixing the issues plaguing his administration. Rep. Omar is a committed public servant — and I stand with her against this atrocious abuse of power by the president.
Was a Russian data center just destroyed or are you just happy to see me?
Republican politicians continue to target the most vulnerable 1% in the hopes that we won’t notice that they are lining the pockets of the wealthiest 1%. But the American people are seeing through it and they are ready for change. https://t.co/Ax96XlwdtW
Delawareans, are you ready to vote? TODAY is the final day to register to make sure your voice is heard! Every vote matters and helps shape our future in the First State. Learn more at https://t.co/11S8KuejOi. https://t.co/5l4eDMDgcT
@kneepads92 Im just sayin we aren’t barely a congressional district when we are literally the biggest. Didnt say it was “good.”
Every 80 years, we must choose: do we destroy or build? I choose to build a better future. https://t.co/keg6saZlh2
Also, great episode on 2028 presidential draft.
It was exciting to celebrate the construction of the University of Delaware’s new Securing American Biomanufacturing Research and Education (SABRE) Center alongside Dr. Kelvin Lee, a leader in our state's biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry. I am proud to have helped secure more than a million dollars in federal funding for the SABRE Center and it was my honor to sign a beam that will support this new state-of-the-art facility, which will move life-saving medical technologies beyond the lab into production and provide hands-on workforce training to students.
Terrible take, Nate. Barely a congressional district? Try that crap with Wyoming. I represent more people in the House than any other voting representative. Delaware is perfect the way it is.
@TomLehmanWGAL I would never besmirch the good people of Wyoming, Delaware😇
It was wonderful to once again join the Kent County Democrats for the annual Belle Everett Dinner and spend the evening with so many dedicated public servants, advocates, and friends. As we head towards Election Day, I’m grateful to be surrounded by so many people across our state of neighbors who share a commitment to protecting our democracy, making our voices heard, and showing up for one another.
Today marks three years since the horrors of October 7th, the largest attack on Jews since the Holocaust, took the lives of over a thousand people. In Delaware and across the country, the weight of October 7th is felt deeply, particularly in the hearts and lives of our Jewish neighbors. In the years since, rising antisemitism has further sown fear in Jewish communities across the First State. May we remember the lives taken and families shattered three years ago today. And recommit ourselves, every day, to a world that affirms the dignity of Israelis and Palestinians alike.
@Susan32713089 You can visit my official page for all statements from me:
This is an asinine comment for anyone to make. But from the...President of the United States? Absolutely outrageous. Trump continues to prove that he does not care about the safety of you, your neighbors, or our nation — so long as it helps him justify his illegal, costly, and deadly war.
I was so happy to join my friends Mara Gorman, Dave Redlawsk, and Kira Alejandro to thank volunteers as they headed out to talk to neighbors in Newark! It was great to be with so many Delawareans who are working hard to help send Mara to the State Senate, Dave to the State House, and Kira to the New Castle County Council.
DEWEY BEACH, Del. – U.S. Representative Sarah McBride and U.S. Senator Chris Coons (both D-Del.), joined by the Army Corps of Engineers, DNREC Secretary Greg Patterson, local elected officials, and community leaders surveyed damage on Friday morning from last week’s nor’easter that battered Delaware’s coast for four days and caused severe beach erosion, dune damage and flooding in communities all along the coast. The storm damaged homes and businesses, caused road closures, and shut down beaches. Following their assessment of the damage, Senator Coons and Representative McBride called for additional federal support to help Delaware’s coastal communities recover and replenish their beaches. Rep. McBride and Senator Coons were joined on Friday by officials from the Army Corps of Engineers, DNREC Secretary Greg Patterson, Dewey Beach Town Manager Bill Zolper, Dewey Beach Mayor Bill Stevens, South Bethany Mayor Edie Dondero, Bethany Beach Mayor Ron Calef, State Sen. Russ Huxtable and State Rep. Claire Snyder-Hall. “Delaware’s beaches are critical to our communities, our economy, and our way of life, and we need to make sure they have the resources they need to recover from this storm and prepare for the next one,” said Senator Coons. “I’m going to keep fighting for the funding Delaware needs to rebuild and recover. That means working with our local leaders, DNREC, the Army Corps and our entire congressional delegation to make sure we’re doing everything we can to protect our coast.” “The damage Senator Coons and I saw is a stark reminder that investing in the resilience of our coastal communities is not optional,” said Rep. McBride. “We cannot prevent these storms from happening, but we can take action to keep people safe and help our communities withstand their impacts. That’s why I’ve been working with partners at every level of government to strengthen our coastline, combat coastal erosion, and ensure Delaware is prepared when severe weather strikes. I’m grateful to Mayor Stevens, our first responders, local leaders, and everyone who stepped up to keep our neighbors safe during the nor’easter. I’ll keep working to make sure Delaware has what it needs to recover from this storm, prepare for the next one, and protect our beaches for generations to come.” Earlier this year, Senators Coons and Lisa Blunt Rochester and Representative McBride helped secure $10 million for beach replenishment along the Delaware coast from Cape Henlopen to Fenwick Island and are working with the Army Corps of Engineers to make that funding available as quickly as possible. Senator Coons is also working with the federal delegation and DNREC to secure an additional $30 million in federal beach replenishment funding this year to help address the state’s ongoing coastal needs. ###
Democrats don’t just get power for power’s sake. We get power to deliver for the people, to make a difference, and to ensure that Delaware lives up to its values — increasing the minimum wage, passing paid leave, creating more affordable housing, and ensuring a quality early childhood education system. That what Delaware Democrats are focused on.
Grateful to join the Delaware Democratic Party in Newark this morning for our Unity Breakfast, where we came together to recognize all the candidates who participated in our primary election and unite behind our common goal of ensuring Democrats across our state win in November. https://t.co/JqHN9RHJa4
I was in Dewey Beach this week with @ChrisCoons and other state and local leaders to inspect damage from the recent nor’easter. While the damage is significant, severe impacts were luckily averted thanks to investments from our federal delegation into beach erosion prevention measures. We will continue to fight for more investments to address the damage and protect our coastal communities.
@Vibutler_ Congrats!!!!
