Congressman Tim Moore Introduces Let Americans Buy with Explicit Labeling (LABEL) Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Yesterday, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) introduced H.R. 10580, the Let Americans Buy with Explicit Labeling Act (LABEL) Act, to require that country of origin and production method (wild or farm-raised) labels for fish be clearly displayed on the front of consumer packages through amending the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946. “Every American deserves to know where their food comes from,” said Congressman Tim Moore. “The LABEL Act helps ensure consumers have clear information about where their seafood was caught or raised and how it was produced, right on the front of the package.” Original cosponsors include Randy Weber (R-TX). This legislation was introduced in the Senate by Senator Hyde-Smith (R-MS) and cosponsored by Senators Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and Adam Schiff (D-CA). The text is also included in the Agricultural Act of 2026. This legislation also has support from the American Shrimp Processors Association (ASPA), Louisiana Shrimp Association, Southern Shrimp Alliance, and Organized Seafood Association of Alabama.

Specifically, this grant will allow the department to hire three additional firefighters, enabling the staffing of a four-person engine company. This announcement follows a letter of support from Congressman Moore to FEMA recommending the City of Belmont for the SAFER Grant.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - During the House Budget Committee field hearing in Dallas, Texas, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) raised concerns about how the national debt is affecting North Carolina families and called for the establishment of a bipartisan fiscal commission to address this issue. “[We need to make sure] that folks back home in our district understand how important this is,” said Congressman Moore. “Do you realize we're spending over $1 trillion a year in interest? That's more than we fund our military...The average family [pays]...a little over $500 [more] a month...in interest on a house payment because of [the national debt and inflation].” During the hearing, "America's Fiscal Future: Examining the Need for a Fiscal Commission," the committee heard from several witnesses including former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, former Sen. Joe Manchin III of West Virginia, and former Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio.

I was glad to take part in today's @HouseBudgetGOP Committee field hearing in Dallas on America's fiscal future and the need for a fiscal commission. Our national debt shows up in higher borrowing costs, inflation, and the mortgage payment on the average American’s home. It's also a national security concern. The long-term fiscal condition of our country is a fundamental issue, and it's time we treat it that way.

Congressman Tim Moore Raises Concerns on Healthcare Fraud and Competition During Field Hearing in Charlotte

WASHINGTON, D.C. - During the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust field hearing in Charlotte, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) raised concerns about fraud and government subsidies driving up healthcare costs for North Carolina families. "Despite decades of increased federal spending and regulation, we still see that healthcare remains too expensive and too difficult to access, not only in North Carolina, but in other states as well," said Congressman Moore. "Part of the problem...is that we move too far away from a healthcare system that's driven by competition and toward one shaped by government regulations and subsidies. [The statistic] that a fourth of the spending is estimated to be waste, fraud, and abuse is unbelievable [and it's] what we need to be looking at." The hearing, "Examining Healthcare Markets: Fraud and Competition,” examined the effect of mergers, certificate of need laws, regulations, vertical integration, and fraudulent insurance practices on healthcare access and affordability in the U.S.

25 years ago, our country and our world changed forever. Today, we remember and honor the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, the heroes who ran toward danger, the families of the fallen, and those who took up arms to serve in our armed forces. After that day, Americans stood united by a shared love of country and neighbor. We must stand strong and continue to be that shining city on a hill.

Socialism stands in direct opposition to the principles that have made America the greatest nation in the world. For 250 years, our country has been built on individual liberty, limited government, and the belief that every American should have the freedom to pursue their own future. Those principles are worth defending. Today, I proudly voted to condemn socialism as its influence continues to grow within the Democrat Party. We have seen throughout history what happens when government power comes at the expense of individual freedom, and we cannot allow those failed ideas to take root here at home. I will always stand for the Constitution, individual liberty, and the freedoms generations of Americans have fought to preserve.

Congressman Tim Moore Introduces Bipartisan HUD Disaster Information Improvement Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) introduced H.R. 9992, the HUD Disaster Information Improvement Act, which would facilitate disaster relief information sharing between Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and Small Business Administration (SBA). This bipartisan legislation is co-led by Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen (D-CO-07). “In the wake of Hurricane Helene, it became clear that we need better coordination between agencies to get disaster assistance to communities faster,” said Congressman Tim Moore. “The GAO and HUD’s Inspector General have identified serious challenges with data sharing, duplication-of-benefits determinations, and improper payments. This legislation strengthens transparency and coordination between agencies, helping reduce waste, fraud, and abuse while ensuring disaster relief gets to folks more efficiently.” “Each year, families across the country face more frequent and more intense severe weather and natural disasters. In Colorado, we recently saw historic fires sweep across the state, destroying homes, communities, and lives. It’s important that we have an all-hands-on deck approach to how we respond to these disasters so communities can rebuild,” said Rep. Brittany Pettersen. “I am proud to co-lead this bipartisan legislation with Rep. Moore. Our bill lays out a clearer path for how HUD can work seamlessly with FEMA and the SBA to support families and businesses when a disaster strikes. When Americans are facing their hardest moments, they deserve to know that their government is responsive and standing with them.” Specifically, the HUD Disaster Information Improvement Act would require HUD to enter into a memorandum of understanding with FEMA and SBA to share disaster relief data to improve efficiency and mitigate waste, fraud, and abuse. HUD would be required to submit a report to Congress on the increased collaboration between the agencies and the effectiveness of the enhanced information sharing.
