Every October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is recognized as a time to focus on early detection, education, and support for those affected by breast cancer. In March, I advocated for continued robust funding for breast cancer research at the Department of Defense to continue their mission to end breast cancer for service members, veterans, and all individuals. This month, we unite to advocate for these causes, spread awareness, and highlight ongoing efforts to improve care and strengthen research initiatives.

Access to fentanyl testing kits and opioid reversal agents is essential to prevent overdoses and deaths. It is essential that we get first responders the tools they need to combat this deadly epidemic. I am pleased to work with Representatives Van Drew, Garbarino, and Lawler to introduce this legislation to take steps towards safeguarding communities from the devastating impact of fentanyl. I will always fight to get our law enforcement officers the tools they need to keep our communities safe.

Kean, Colleagues Introduce Legislation To Address Fentanyl Crisis

251 Cannon House Office Building, Washington, DC 20515 Email Me (202) 225-5361 Subscribe How Can I Help? (OCTOBER 1, 2026) WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07), Congressman Jeff Van Drew (NJ-02), Congressman Andrew Garbarino (NY-02), and Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) introduced the Fight Against Fentanyl Act, a bill to permit the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) to be used for the purchase of fentanyl testing kits and opioid reversal agents by law enforcement agencies. The Byrne JAG grant program is the leading source of federal funding to state and local police jurisdictions. The Fight Against Fentanyl Act would amend the Byrne JAG program to allow for state and local police agencies to purchase fentanyl test kits and opioid reversal agents using federal funds. “Access to fentanyl testing kits and opioid reversal agents is essential to prevent overdoses and deaths,” said Congressman Kean. “It is essential that we get first responders the tools they need to combat this deadly epidemic. I am pleased to work with Representatives Van Drew, Garbarino, and Lawler to introduce this legislation to take steps towards safeguarding communities from the devastating impact of fentanyl.” "Fentanyl is different from anything we have dealt with before because such a small amount can be deadly,” said Congressman Van Drew. “We have to attack this problem from every direction. The Fight Against Fentanyl Act is one piece of that by helping local law enforcement use existing federal grant dollars for fentanyl testing kits and overdose reversal drugs. If there is something we can put in the hands of our police officers that can help catch fentanyl or save somebody’s life, they should have it.” “Fentanyl continues to devastate families and communities on Long Island and across the country. I’m proud to join Congressman Kean in leading the Fight Against Fentanyl Act to ensure law enforcement has access to the tools they need to combat this deadly drug and save lives,” said Congressman Garbarino. “Substance use disorder and fentanyl are destroying families across the country, and we must work together at every level to combat this crisis. This legislation gives law enforcement the resources they need by allowing Byrne JAG grants to fund fentanyl testing kits and lifesaving opioid reversal agents that can mean the difference between life and death. I was proud to support this legislation last Congress, and I will continue working to give our communities the tools they need to fight back,” said Congressman Lawler. Congressman Kean has been a leader in the fight against fentanyl. Earlier this year, he introduced the American Cooperation with Our Neighbors Act with Congressman Greg Stanton (AZ-04) that would direct the State Department to create a strategy for cooperation between the United States and Mexico to stop illicit fentanyl trafficking. Watch Congressman Kean speak in support of the American Cooperation with Our Neighbors Act HERE. In January 2025, Congressman Kean voted in favor of the HALT Fentanyl Act, which was signed into law later that year to reclassify fentanyl-related substances as a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act. Since taking office, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. has secured nearly $22 million for law enforcement across New Jersey’s Seventh Congressional District through the Community Project Funding process, demonstrating a consistent, tangible commitment to backing the blue with real resources. Kean, Colleagues Introduce Legislation To Safeguard Medicaid

251 Cannon House Office Building, Washington, DC 20515 Email Me (202) 225-5361 Subscribe How Can I Help? (SEPTEMBER 30, 2026) WASHINGTON, D.C. – Earlier this week, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) introduced the Helping Encourage Lawful Payments and Strengthen Transparency, Anti-fraud, Tips, and Enforcement Strategies Act (HELP STATES) Actwith a group of colleagues to provide states more money for Medicaid program integrity activities. The HELP STATES Act was introduced as part of an Energy and Commerce Committee package of 14 bills to streamline necessary data collection and availability, bolster anti-fraud enforcement infrastructure, and incentivize fraud-fighting efforts so that states and the federal government can more effectively defend taxpayer dollars and safeguard important federally funded health programs. “The HELP STATES Act gives New Jersey and other states the power to crack down on Medicaid fraud by letting them keep more of what they recover and reinvest it straight into stopping waste,” said Congressman Kean. “This means more resources, stronger oversight, and a smarter system that rewards states for protecting taxpayer dollars.” “As a nurse practitioner, I know how important Medicaid is to the patients and families who rely on it, which is why it’s crucial we protect this vital resource from fraud,” said Congresswoman Kiggans (VA-02). “The HELP STATES Act would allow states across the country to reinvest a portion of the identified fraudulent payments into stronger audits and investigations to prevent future abuse of the system. I’m proud to join Congressman Kean in supporting this commonsense legislation to hold bad actors accountable, safeguard taxpayer dollars, and preserve the integrity of our social safety net.” “Every dollar lost to fraud is a dollar that cannot be used to provide care for Americans who rely on Medicaid,” said Congressman Wittman (VA-01). “I am proud to join my colleagues in introducing the HELP STATES Act to give states a stronger incentive to identify and recover fraudulent payments while ensuring those recovered funds are reinvested in protecting the integrity of the Medicaid program. We owe it to taxpayers and Medicaid enrollees to safeguard these resources and hold those who defraud the system accountable.” Last year, Congressman Kean voted in favor of the Working Families Tax Cuts that were later signed into law to safeguard Medicaid for every intended beneficiary in New Jersey and across the country. Congressman Kean introduced the HELP STATES Act with Representatives Jen Kiggans (VA-02), Rob Wittman (VA-01), David Valadao (CA-22), Young Kim (CA-40), and Rob Bresnahan (PA-08). The contrast couldn’t be clearer: I voted to pass the Stop Insider Trading Act to ban congressional stock trading. But today, Senate Democrats, including NJ’s delegation, blocked it. And @RebeccaForNJ07 stands right in line with them. Bennett proves time and again she never stands up for what’s right. Less transparency, more corruption - as usual, if it helps Rebecca’s bank account, she’s all in.

If you can’t be honest about this, you can’t be trusted to stand up for New Jerseyans in Congress.
