It is an honor to be on hallowed ground at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. 25 years ago, the heroic actions of passengers and crew saved countless lives. As we reflect on the lives lost on 9/11, it is vital we do everything in our power to prepare for future threats. The @HouseIntel, of which I am a member, has made a thorough study of the 9/11 Commission Report. Today, we held a hearing to release the Committee’s Final Report to the public.
The passengers and crew of #Flight93 will always be Heroes. Their courage and bravery saved many lives. It was an honor to join my @HouseIntel colleagues for a roundtable discussion with #Flight93 family members of passengers and crew. America will always remember the sacrifices made on September 11, 2001. We will continue to do everything in our power to protect our great nation at home and across the globe.
The passengers and crew of #Flight93 will always be Heroes. Their courage and bravery saved lives. It was an honor to join my @HouseIntel colleagues on hallowed ground to pay our respects at the Flight93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. It was great to be on hand to participate in the grand opening of Aurora Flight Sciences’ major expansion in Columbus. The expansion adds 50,000 square feet to support aerospace production. Additionally, 40,000 square feet of existing space was renovated to accommodate production.
Appreciated the opportunity to discuss important issues on @supertalk.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representatives Trent Kelly (R-Miss.), Michael Guest (R-Miss.), and Mike Ezell (R-Miss.) sent a letter to President Donald J. Trump expressing their strong support for his legislative efforts to address critical national defense, agricultural, and election-security priorities. “The threats facing our nation require the Department of War to have the resources necessary to defend the United States and protect American interests,” the lawmakers wrote. “Our brave men and women in uniform deserve the equipment, munitions, and support needed to carry out their missions and return home safely.” The Mississippi lawmakers also emphasized the urgent need to provide relief to struggling farmers. “Family farms across Mississippi are going out of business, while many others are struggling to survive from one crop year to the next,” they wrote. “This assistance would provide a critical lifeline, helping our farmers remain in operation, meet their obligations, and continue producing the food and fiber our nation depends upon.” Kelly, Guest, and Ezell also expressed support for expanding access to voter identification, encouraging strong state election practices, and accounting for the SAVE America Act in the Senate budget resolution. “You can count on our support as we urge the Senate to act and work to send the subsequent reconciliation package to your desk without delay,” the lawmakers concluded. Read the full letter below. Dear Mr. President, As members of the Mississippi congressional delegation, we write to express our strong support for your efforts to address critical national defense, agricultural, and election-security priorities through the budget reconciliation process. We urge the Senate to support your requests and move expeditiously to finalize and pass a budget resolution. The threats facing our nation require the Department of War to have the resources necessary to defend the United States and protect American interests. Our brave men and women in uniform deserve the equipment, munitions, and support needed to carry out their missions and return home safely. We fully support your request to meet these immediate defense needs. We also strongly support your request for farm aid. Family farms across Mississippi are going out of business, while many others are struggling to survive one crop year to the next. This assistance would provide a critical lifeline, helping our farmers remain in operation, meet their obligations, and continue producing the food and fiber our nation depends upon. Finally, Americans deserve elections they can trust. We support your efforts to expand access to voter identification, encourage state election practices, and account for the SAVE America Act in the Senate budget resolution. Thank you for your leadership on these priorities. You can count on our support as we urge the Senate to act and work to send the subsequent reconciliation package to your desk without delay. ###

The Mississippi congressional delegation today shared its strong support for Governor Tate Reeves' request for a major declaration after devastating tornadoes and severe weather struck the state on May 6-7, 2026. U.S. Senators Roger Wicker, R-Miss., and Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., and U.S. Representatives Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., Trent Kelly, R-Miss., Michael Guest, R-Miss., and Mike Ezell, R-Miss., sent President Trump a letter endorsing the governor's request for an expedited major disaster declaration for Lamar, Lincoln, Franklin, Lawrence, and Wilkinson counties for individual assistance and public assistance. If approved, the major disaster declaration would unlock additional federal resources to supplement state recovery efforts. "Several of the tornadoes caused catastrophic damage, including an EF3 tornado that, at times, exceeded a mile in width and remained on the ground for nearly 70 miles. The storms destroyed and severely damaged many homes and businesses, uprooted trees, crippled critical infrastructure, and caused widespread power outages affecting thousands of Mississippians," the lawmakers wrote. "Communities across the impacted region continue to face significant recovery challenges in the aftermath of these storms. Read the full letter below. Dear President Trump, We respectfully write to urge your full and timely consideration of Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves' request for a Major Disaster Declaration following recent devastating tornadoes and severe weather in our state. We remain deeply grateful for the continued partnership and support provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in response to prior disasters, and we appreciate the agency's ongoing coordination with state and local officials as damage assessments continue. On the evening of May 6, 2026, and early morning of May 7, 2026, multiple Mississippi counties experienced destructive weather conditions, including supercell thunderstorms that produced at least seven confirmed tornadoes across portions of the state. Several of the tornadoes caused catastrophic damage, including an EF3 tornado that, at times, exceeded a mile in width and remained on the ground for nearly 70 miles. The storms destroyed and severely damaged many homes and businesses, uprooted trees, crippled critical infrastructure, and caused widespread power outages affecting thousands of Mississippians. Communities across the impacted region continue to face significant recovery challenges in the aftermath of these storms. Governor Reeves' request includes both Individual Assistance and Public Assistance for Lamar, Lincoln, Franklin, Lawrence, and Wilkinson counties. The magnitude of the destruction has placed extraordinary strain on our state and local resources, and the capabilities of volunteer and charitable organizations alone will not be sufficient to meet the long-term recovery needs of affected communities. Federal assistance will be critical to support the recovery of these communities. Thank you for your consideration of this request. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need further assistance in this effort.
Today is Peace Officers Memorial Day. We honor the fallen officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our communities, our state, and our nation. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten as we remember the lives they gave to protect others. https://t.co/BnwadMZEhH
