Russia continuing to target Ukrainian power facilities just hours after Trump announced a so-called energy infrastructure ceasefire further shows that this Administration is not holding Putin accountable. Innocent lives are at risk—this cannot be tolerated.

I am cosponsoring @JoaquinCastroTX’s Stop the Settlements Act to enact mandatory sanctions on anyone involved with Israel’s settler expansion in the West Bank or Gaza, and ban imports from Israeli settlements. These land grabs and the continued destruction of Palestinian property are unacceptable and do not advance attempts to achieve peace. These actions are forcefully displacing innocent civilians from their homes and will only lead to further violence in the region.

Trump's weaponizing of the DOJ against Congresswoman Omar is completely unprecedented and unacceptable. This raid is yet another brazenly racist attempt to silence his political opponents while he demonizes Somali Americans, immigrant communities, and people of color across the country. We must all stand strong alongside Congresswoman Omar in the face of tyranny.

ICE's detention of Isaac Gallegos must end immediately. ICE is not an agency focused on public safety, it is an agency that seeks to strike fear into our community and split families apart. We must continue to fight for passage of legislation to completely dismantle and defund this agency which has no place in our country.

As we continue to fight for the passage of Medicare for All, I’ll continue exploring all routes to support our local healthcare facilities and ensure they can continue providing quality care to our communities.

Rep. Foushee Introduces Legislation to Promote Use of Low-Emission Anesthetic Gases

DURHAM, NC (October 9, 2026) — Today, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04) introduced the Low Emission Anesthetics Act to incentive the use of certain low-emission anesthetic gases by health care facilities. Certain traditional anesthetic gases including desflurane or nitrous oxide used by healthcare providers have been found to have an outsized impact on greenhouse gas emissions, despite the existence of proven low-emission anesthetic gases like isoflurane or sevoflurane. “While it is clear that the climate crisis is being driven by large corporations and fossil fuels, Congress has a duty to explore all routes to make meaningful reductions to greenhouse gas emissions—and anesthetic gasses are one way we can make a difference. Moving away from anesthetic gases that have an outsized impact on greenhouse gas emission while viable alternatives already exist in the market is one small step we can take to be better environmental stewards,” said Congresswoman Valerie Fosuhee (NC-04). “I am proud to introduce the Low Emission Anesthetics Act to encourage the use of anesthetic gases that are less harmful to the environment, and I will continue to fight to keep the environment safe for generations to come.” Specifically, the Low Emission Anesthetics Act would establish a low-emission anesthetic gas credit for any health care facility making strides to phase out high-emissions anesthetic gases, with escalating tax credits for facilities making significant strides in this area.

Andrew dedicated his career to protecting North Carolinians, and today he made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We will not forget Andrew Brokes's service and sacrifice, and our community owes him a debt of gratitude.

The withholding of Teen Pregnancy Prevention grants by @HHSgov from schools like @DukeU is another attempt to divert funds obligated by Congress away from programs that help our communities, and into the pockets of this Administration. I am demanding that @SecKennedy explain these attempts to cancel important health education grants that help support evidence-based programs across our communities.

Rep. Foushee Demands Answers From Secretary Kennedy Regarding Cancellation of Teen Pregnancy Prevention Grants

WASHINGTON, DC (October 6, 2026) — Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04) sent a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kennedy Jr. regarding the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) grants that were canceled by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). “I am concerned that HHS is still holding funding for these important grants that support locally delivered, evidence-based programs that reach young people where they live, often in communities with limited access to health education and services, including rural areas,” the Congresswoman wrote. “HHS must have a plan to ensure that this vital program continues (...) HHS must immediately reinstate funding for TPP Program grantees that your department cut off earlier this year,” Congresswoman Foushee continued. “I request that you immediately share HHS's plan to allocate funding for the TPP program with funds obligated by Congress and ensure that grantees, including North Carolina, will continue to offer important evidence-based education and not see their funding and program implementation further interrupted,” the Congresswoman concluded. Duke University, located in North Carolina’s Fourth Congressional District, was a recipient of a Teen Pregnancy Prevention grant in 2023. In July, 79 members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) and the Democratic Caucus, sent a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, demanding the reversal of the Trump Administration’s cancellation of 53 active Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPP) grants that the Department claimed were no longer aligned with the agency’s priorities. Recent decisions by the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia blocked HHS from establishing new grants with new funding conditions. 92 members of Congress, including Rep. Foushee, recently stated in a letter to HHS, that this funding must be reinstated for TPP grantees that were cut off earlier this year. The full text of the letter can be found here. ###
