Under this Administration, we've hit 158 days of the national average price at the pump being above $4. A new record. While extreme Republicans in Washington look the other way, our families are feeling the pain at the pump, at the checkout line, and every time they sit down to try to make monthly budgets work.

It was great to meet with Coastal Bend workers at Celanese about strengthening job growth and economic development across our region. To ensure South Texans remain competitive for high-skilled jobs, I've worked hard to bring home more than $1.3 billion in federal investments for education and workforce training programs. And I'll continue fighting in Congress for even more local support.

$90. That's what this Administration thinks of America's senior citizens. First, they enacted the so-called Big, Beautiful Bill to cut Medicare by $500+ billion over the next decade. Then, they refused to extend ACA tax credits, causing monthly insurance premiums to soar by hundreds of dollars. Now, they're robbing community health centers to dole out $90 checks that most seniors in our district aren't eligible for and will barely cover rising costs to visit a doctor or get lifesaving meds. Extreme Republicans in Washington don’t get to act as the firefighter when they were the arsonist all along.

Overcrowded animal shelters in the Rio Grande Valley increase the risk of disease spread and limit how many animals can receive proper care before finding their forever homes. Alongside the @HarlingenTex, I secured $1 million in community project funding to build a new 15,000 sq. ft. shelter, improving conditions for stray or lost pets while easing the strain on staff and volunteers who maintain operations.

The Administration's extreme policies and unauthorized war in Iran has wide-ranging consequences back home that are now affecting a service seniors rely on for their health and well-being. South Texas seniors and their families deserve better, and I will keep fighting to hold this Administration accountable.

I refuse to leave behind hardworking families and continue to remain focused on advancing commonsense legislation to drive down the cost of living.

To create a safer and more resilient South Texas, we must invest in drainage, conservation, and other water infrastructure priorities. I worked with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to secure major funding authorization wins for South Texas in this biannual Water Resources Development Act and proudly supported its passage in the House. Now, our region is now one step closer to getting the federal support it needs, and I look forward to continued negotiations with the Senate to ensure each of these initiatives is enacted into law.
