Trump has weaponized the @TheJusticeDept, and this is an abuse of power. It is no accident that this raid comes three weeks before an election where Rep. Omar is on the ballot. This is part of the fascist playbook to rile up his supporters in advance of the midterms. https://t.co/Mirjql5JcE

Federal law enforcement should never be used as a tool for political retaliation, but this is all part of Donald Trump’s authoritarian takeover. I stand with Congresswoman Omar, and we must fight back to protect our democracy.

A Justice Department that answers to a president’s political agenda instead of the rule of law is a threat to our democracy. With @IlhanMN on the ballot in just three weeks, Americans should be deeply alarmed by what we’re seeing.

This nation’s failure to address its gun violence crisis is a sin that will never be forgiven. And how could it ever be? For decades, Americans have gone from one day to the next standing on the brink of another tragedy. Yet there has been no action, no progress, no change — just more broken communities, and more unbearable grief. Enough. My prayers are with the people of Erie and the families of all the victims of this most painful moment. They deserve justice, and a country that is decent enough to deliver it.

For nearly two long and painful years, Americans have watched in helpless horror as our neighbors continue to be stolen from their homes and shot in the street by agents of the Trump Administration. Last night’s attempted murder of a New Yorker in front of his five-year-old son was far from the first disgraceful incident of its kind, but it must be the last. We demand that ICE leave our city immediately, and we are too disgusted to accept any delay. While the Trump Administration’s government-sanctioned abuses have shocked our collective conscience and sickened our society, we cannot say that we are surprised to see them befall our communities. I fought bitterly to prevent Donald Trump and his congressional lackeys from empowering ICE with hundreds of billions in taxpayer dollars, because I was certain that these vile, unconstitutional crimes were an inevitability under this president’s watch. In fact, these depravities are the only promise Donald Trump has kept, serving as more red meat for his MAGA followers. Every incident is just another dreadful reminder of the resources that could have been spent positioning our society towards a brighter future. Not pulling the darkest chapters of our past back to the present. ICE has proven itself nothing more than a vigilante weapon for the white nationalists to tear away at our multiracial democracy. It is a rogue agency, built by and for broken men. The only path forward is to rip that power away entirely, before ICE has any opportunity to further its relentless escalation of violence and despair in America. I therefore call upon Secretary Mullin to immediately remove ICE from sanctuary cities like New York City and all others his agents have invaded. The choice is his – however, the power is ours. Go out and vote!

CLARKE DEMANDS ICE LEAVE NYC FOLLOWING SHOOTING OF NEW YORKER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 9, 2026 MEDIA CONTACT: e: [email protected] c: 202.913.0126 BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Today, Congresswoman Yvette D. The only path forward is to rip it away entirely, before ICE has any opportunity to further its relentless escalation of violence and despair in America. Secretary Mullin must see that it is immediately removed from sanctuary cities like New York City and all others his agents have invaded. He must support the investigation and subsequent prosecution of his agents who have made a living harassing, abusing, and beating decent people trying to find their way in our nation. And he must ensure the New Yorker whom his agents grievously wounded yesterday is able to heal without any threat to his care or status in this country. If he does not, he will find himself following in the footsteps of his disgraced predecessor expeditiously. The choice is his – the power is ours. For the people we cannot help but love and the communities they cannot help but hate, we must use it.” ###

New York will not be safe as long as a single one of these cruel thugs remains in our communities, and we will not have justice until all those who nearly murdered a New Yorker and his child are prosecuted for their sick crime. We demand ICE gets out, and stays out. Immediately.

CLARKE, COLLEAGUES INTRODUCE BIPARTISAN, BICAMERAL RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH WORLD MENOPAUSE AWARENESS MONTH AND WORLD MENOPAUSE DAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 8, 2026 MEDIA CONTACT: e: [email protected] c: 202.913.0126 WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, Congresswomen Yvette D. Clarke (D-NY-09) and Julia Letlow (R-LA-05) introduced a bipartisan, bicameral resolution to establish October as World Menopause Awareness Month and October 18th as World Menopause Day. Senators Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) and Cory Booker (D-NJ) introduced the resolution’s companion in the Senate. These observances will contribute to the spread of global awareness and access to care during menopausal transition and post-menopause, as well as provide organizations and individuals around the world with an opportunity to advocate for resources and support for the 75 million American women in perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause. “Throughout our lives, women deserve the support we need to confront every trial and embrace every triumph each of our chapters has in store for us. Menopause is a natural experience that we all must face, yet the stigma that follows it continues to inflict needless ridicule and shame on women at a time when all we ask for is acceptance and understanding,” said Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke. “World Menopause Awareness Month and World Menopause Day will be the bridges to normalizing menopause and ensuring the women confronting it have the resources, care, and confidence they need to tackle their new horizons head on, and I am proud to lead this bipartisan legislation to see both codified as national observances.” “Through any stage of life, women need access to reliable information to make educated decisions about their health. World Menopause Awareness Month shines a light on the millions of women undergoing menopause every year, highlighting the need for women to have a better understanding of the treatments and options available to them,” said Congresswoman Julia Letlow. “Generations of women have faced the transition to menopause, yet for too long this experience has been overlooked, under-researched, and treated as taboo,” said Lisa Senator Blunt Rochester. “It’s far past time we ensure women have the care and support they need to feel their best in all phases of life. I’m proud to introduce the World Menopause Awareness Month Resolution to elevate the challenges of menopause and encourage further investments into research that will help women meet this transition with confidence.” “Our health care system has failed women struggling with menopausal symptoms that disrupt their livelihoods, and this unfortunate reality disproportionately affects Black and Hispanic women,” said Senator Cory Booker. “This resolution is a reminder that we must do more to support women navigating menopause and provide them with the resources they need. Menopause should not be a barrier to the quality of life every woman deserves.” “The resolution introduced by Congresswoman Yvette Clarke represents another important step toward breaking down the barriers that have too often left women without the information, care, and relief they need throughout the menopause transition,” said Donna Klassen of Let’s Talk Menopause. “We proudly support this resolution and applaud Congresswoman Clarke’s leadership in bringing greater attention to menopause, expanding access to trusted health information and care, and ensuring women have the resources they need to navigate this stage of life with confidence and support.” “Menopause is a universal experience for women, and yet, for too long menopause has been understudied. This has left us with significant knowledge gaps about menopause itself, including its symptoms and treatments, but also about the effects of menopause on overall health and healthy aging. Fortunately, we now have momentum to course correct. The Society for Women’s Health Research thanks Representative Clarke for her leadership on the resolution designating October as World Menopause Awareness Month and October 18 as World Menopause Day. We must collectively continue raising awareness about menopause, which can help shape research priorities and ensure women and health care providers have the evidence and information needed to make informed decisions about menopause care,” said Lindsey Miltenberger of the Society for Women’s Health Research. Menopause is more than a personal, biological transition—it has lasting implications for women’s health and well-being, and for families, workplaces, and society. The Black Women’s Health Imperative endorses this resolution to recognize October as World Menopause Awareness Month and expand awareness, provider education, and access to the resources and care that women, particularly Black women, need for a healthy, dignified menopause, ” said Ifeoma Udoh, Ph.D. of the Black Women’s Health Imperative. The resolution is endorsed by the American Medical Association, Astellas, Greater New York Hospital Association, Healthcare Association of New York State, In Our Own Voice: National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice Agenda, Mount Sinai Health System, National Medical Association, National Minority Quality Forum, Novo Nordisk, Inc., NYU Langone Health, One Brooklyn Health System, Reproductive Health Access Project, Ritual, The Fibroid Foundation, and The White Dress Project. When America’s adversaries abroad target our elections by spreading disinformation, sowing distrust, and striking at our election-security infrastructure, we expect our president to stand up to their attacks on free and fair elections – not start his own. The Trump Administration’s shameful betrayal of our democracy has long been in the works, and it’s only grown more dangerous in the era of AI. I’ve been sounding the alarm for years. I introduced the REAL Political Ads Act to end the tide of undisclosed AI-generated political ads muddying our elections, and I led the DEEPFAKES Accountability Act to combat malicious deepfakes and foreign election interference. Democracy depends on people staying informed. Trump’s power rests on people being deceived. https://t.co/JvYKWEMN9n

Today marks three painful years past the October 7th terrorist attack on Israel, when Hamas murdered more than 1,200 men, women, and children and abducted 251 others into brutal captivity. My heart and thoughts are with the countless families who have suffered an unthinkable, unbearable grief that came with that terrible day and will stay with them forever. The vile tide of antisemitism and islamophobia that arrived in the October 7th attack’s aftermath has been felt by innocents throughout our world, including far too many of our Jewish and Muslim neighbors across Brooklyn. In the name of all those we have lost, and all others we hope to save, we must continue to stand against hatred in all its forms. The work of building a future where our coexistence is accepted as a source of strength, and not seen as an excuse to divide, must go on. We can create a world where all are welcome, and safe, and loved – but only if we try.

Under the direction of Trump, Republicans passed the “Big Ugly Bill,” cutting affordable healthcare for millions of Americans while lining the pockets of the wealthy. Now they want to offer a $500 check to make up for skyrocketing healthcare costs. Throwing money at the American people, cannot be a Band-Aid for a gaping wound they created. Families need affordable healthcare, not a one-time payout. Our families deserve better. https://t.co/v66EmUXVhP

CLARKE ISSUES STATEMENT ON 50 YEARS OF THE HYDE AMENDMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 30, 2026 MEDIA CONTACT: e: [email protected] c: 202.913.0126 BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09) issued the following statement: “Today marks 50 years of harm, hardship, and uncertainty under the Hyde Amendment. Since its adoption in 1976, the Hyde Amendment has relentlessly and brutally restricted a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions. Its vile legacy can be seen in the countless women it has affected over this painful past century, as well as in every regression in this nation that its very existence has made possible. Indeed, the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and deny millions of women their right to an abortion could only have arrived in the wake of a post-Hyde America, where women’s autonomy has remained under siege, and our personal medical decisions are offered to all hands but our own. “While there is no shortage of cruelties lurking in the laws of this nation, the Hyde Amendment is particularly sickening because its negative impacts are felt mostly by those with the least. For half a century, it has blocked low-income Americans from having access to insurance when seeking abortion coverage. For Black and brown women, as well as those belonging to rural communities who have long navigated systemic discrimination and contended with trauma and hardship in their struggle to receive care, its impact and consequences have been especially devastating. “Systemic injustice does not occur spontaneously. It is born in the cruel and controlling hearts of politicians who steal our power and pretend it is their own. As Members of Congress, we have a moral responsibility to stop the Hyde Amendment before it reaches one more year and harms any more women. Now is the time we come together to put an end to this vicious chapter in our history. That starts with passing the EACH Act and ensuring that every American can access affordable abortion care, no matter what.” ###

Like countless Americans, I know the fear, heartbreak, and uncertainty that follows a prostate cancer diagnosis devastatingly well – I felt it myself when my own father received his diagnosis. As we mark the end of this Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and as countless families across America struggle to face such an unbearable pain, we must recommit to building a nation where no family ever does again. I introduced the PSA Screening for Him Act to make prostate cancer screenings more accessible by waiving deductibles, copayments, and coinsurances for certain individuals at high risk of developing prostate cancer, because defeating this disease starts with detecting it.

On behalf of the people of the 9th District of New York, the Clarke family, and myself, I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to the many loved ones and countless fellow fans of the internationally renowned Mr. Slinger Francisco, the Mighty Sparrow, as we grieve this peerless icon’s transition to paradise. Though he was born in Grenada and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, the Mighty Sparrow’s talent was so substantial and his art so impactful, it could not be confined to the nations of the Caribbean, but instead came to be beloved across the globe. Indeed, the “Calypso King of the World” earned his crown through his remarkable talent, generous spirit, and unrelenting commitment to his craft. I have no doubt that incomparable legacy will persist long past the loss of our Legend. We will remember the Mighty Sparrow as a consummate entertainer, celebrate him as a cultural institution, and honor him as the trailblazer, charitable soul, and innovator he was. And, though our sorrow is great, may we find comfort in knowing that tonight, the Kingdom of Heaven will ring alive with sweet steel melodies and the songs and sounds of our people.

CLARKE LEADS LETTER TO REVLON DEMANDING ANSWERS FOLLOWING FINDINGS OF DANGEROUS CONTAMINANTS IN COSMETICS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 28, 2026 MEDIA CONTACT: e: [email protected] c: 202.913.0126 WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09) led a letter signed by nine Members of Congress to CEO of Revlon Group Holdings LLC, Michelle Peluso, following the FDA’s recent findings that the cosmetics company failed to adequately test products for the presence of contaminants – including cancer-causing chemicals and mold – putting the health of its customers at risk, particularly its Black customers who are disproportionately represented in the beauty and personal care market. “Black consumers, specifically women and girls, occupy a significant space within the overall U.S. beauty landscape. In 2026, beauty spending among Black consumers reached $16.2 billion, representing a 9 percent increase from the previous year. Given their prevalence in your customer base, it is our serious concern that Black women and girls would be disproportionately exposed to carcinogenic chemicals in contaminated beauty products,” wrote the Members. “Products that pose a risk to consumers have no place in our markets. Black women and girls should be able to use beauty and personal care products, including over-the-counter (OTC) drug products, without worrying about potential exposure to harmful chemicals.” The letter was signed by: Representatives Clarke, Carson, Crockett, DeLauro, Grijalva, Holmes Norton, Thanedar, Tlaib, and Wilson (FL).
