Bottom Line: Republicans advanced a Farm Bill w every single Democrat voting NO on the Senate Ag Cmte. Your vote matters. Iowa can’t afford to hand the keys over to the Democrat Socialist agenda. Vote for the future of family farms and our great state. Vote for @hinsonashley. 🌽
What’s Worse: The Democrat Socialist Party of America (DSA) believes in collective ownership and limits on private property rights. Say goodbye to the family farm and hello to heavy-handed regulations and confiscatory estate and inheritance taxes with socialists in charge.
REMINDER: Democrats have rejected a new Farm Bill 4 years in a row. 1 Democrat even proposed an amendment to this year’s Farm Bill attacking the Renewable Fuel Standard & preventing nationwide, year-round E15.

Q: What should Iowans know about Jack Smith’s criminal investigations against President Trump? A: Three days after President Trump announced his campaign for re-election in 2022, the Biden Justice Department appointed Special Counsel Jack Smith to conduct an investigation into Trump for allegedly mishandling classified documents and election interference. The genesis for Smith’s election investigation began at the Biden Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) under the codename “Arctic Frost.” An FBI agent – who was later forced to resign for publicly posting blatant political content online – broke the FBI’s own rules to get the investigation off the ground. That agent was found to have violated the Hatch Act for his political conduct on the taxpayers’ dime. As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, my congressional oversight of Smith’s “Arctic Frost” case exposed a dangerous weaponization of the federal government that reinforces the importance of our robust system of checks and balances. Reckless, partisan investigations that misuse federal law enforcement, waste taxpayer dollars and target everyday Americans for partisan advantage undermine the public trust in government. Thanks to courageous whistleblower disclosures, my oversight showed the Biden Department of Justice was out to get President Trump, and cast a net over the entire Republican Party, including groups and individuals. At the congressional hearing I led in September, I called Smith to testify and answer questions about the blatant abuse of power by partisan federal agents and prosecutors that swept lawmakers, journalists and ordinary Americans into their dragnet. My oversight revealed extensive government overreach by Smith and his team, including how they: Subpoenaed the personal checks of 4,782 Americans from all 50 states who donated to President Trump or Trump-aligned campaigns between 2019 to 2023, including 42 Iowans. Obtained the phone toll records of at least 16 members of Congress and the content of text messages of 44 lawmakers, including mine. This violated a constitutional guardrail known as the Speech or Debate clause, which prevents the executive branch from infringing on the legislative branch’s ability to carry out its core constitutional responsibilities. Obtained the communications of journalists, vacuuming up messages between nearly 50 reporters and their government sources, including 60 Minutes, Associated Press, CNN, CBS, NBC, the Wall Street Journal and more. Scooped up records from more than 400 Republican groups and individuals. Smith and his team of prosecutors and investigators broke the rules to throw the book at President Trump and put a target on the backs of his supporters. This bad faith approach to the rule of law gives the Department of Justice a black eye and erodes public confidence in government institutions. Q: How did 42 Iowans get swept up in Jack Smith’s investigation? A: Jack Smith’s subpoenas scooped up individual donor checks that included the sensitive information of private citizens across all 50 states. Among them, copies of the bank account numbers, routing numbers, home addresses and individual signatures of 42 Iowans were handed over to the Biden Justice Department and FBI. Sweeping up donor checks in a partisan dragnet is not the proper use of our justice system. This was an egregious invasion of privacy and a clear cut example of government overreach. As a government watchdog, my oversight will continue to keep check on abuses of power and ensure the laws passed by Congress are faithfully executed. On behalf of Iowans, I’m working as hard as ever to restore public trust in government. Sadly, every single Democrat in the U.S. Senate voted against the Stop Insider Trading Act that would ban members of Congress, spouses and their dependent children from purchasing stocks in publicly traded companies. That bill also includes a commonsense voter ID requirement that’s supported by more than 80% of Americans. The bill passed the House of Representatives earlier this year, with backing from Reps. Miller-Meeks, Hinson, Nunn and Feenstra. Democrats’ obstruction is yet another example of their party putting politics before the American people.
BUTLER COUNTY, IOWA – U.S. Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) introduced bipartisan legislation to address democratic backsliding in Serbia, improve treatment of student-led and civic protests, and combat the authoritarian influence of Russia, China and Iran. The Supporting the Rule of Law, Building Institutional Justice, and Accountability Act (SRBIJA) would help strengthen Serbia’s democratic institutions, advance the rule of law and promote accountability in the U.S.-Serbia relationship. The legislation would sunset five years after enactment. “Serbia plays a critical role in preserving peace and security in the Western Balkans. It’s critical to prevent Russia, China or Iran from influencing Serbia and destabilizing the region. Our bipartisan legislation would help strengthen Serbia’s democratic institutions, and it contains key accountability measures like sanctions to promote the country’s return to a strong democracy,” Grassley said. “This bipartisan measure recognizes that the U.S.-Serbian relationship must embody shared democratic values and commitment to combating autocracy. Since taking power, the current government in Serbia has deepened its ties to Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. This legislation will give the administration new tools to sanction individuals who enable democratic backsliding and show that the United States remains a defender of democracy. I am proud to help lead this effort in the Senate,” Blumenthal said. The SRBIJA Act expresses Congress’s concern about Serbia’s serious democratic backsliding, including in the rule of law, judicial independence, media freedom and corruption. The measure specifically cites the government’s response to sustained student-led and civic protests, as well as the November 2024 collapse of the Novi Sad railway station canopy. The concerns are especially timely given the upcoming snap parliamentary elections in Serbia on October 25, 2026. Last Sunday, Aleksandar Vucic resigned as Serbia’s president, laying the groundwork to keep his grip on power by taking over as prime minister if his governing party wins the election. The legislation supports Serbia’s democratic institutions by conditioning additional U.S. assistance on a presidential certification that Serbia has made significant and sustained progress toward judicial accountability, media freedom and alignment with the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Additionally, the SRBIJA Act would: Combat bad actors by supporting the use of existing sanctions authorities against individuals engaged in corruption, serious human rights abuses or who are undermining democratic institutions or threatening peace and stability in the Western Balkans. In July 2026, the Serbian government sent a cabinet minister to Tehran to attend the funeral of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, joining delegations from Russia and China at a time when most European governments were not represented. Evaluate the impact of Russian and Chinese influence by requiring a report to Congress about Russia and China’s political, economic, energy and security ties with Serbia and its implications on American interests. The measure also includes clear, verifiable requirements for the State Department to continue its participation in the U.S.-Serbia Strategic Dialogue. Require a detailed strategy for U.S. engagement with Serbia that addresses these concerns. Click HERE for text of the legislation. In the U.S. House of Representatives, the legislation was introduced by Helsinki Commission co-chairman U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) and by U.S. Rep. William Keating (D-Mass.). Background: Grassley has consistently worked to advance peace and stability in the Western Balkans, including efforts to address Bosnia and Herzegovina’s constitutional and political crisis. Serbia’s political, economic and historical ties to Republika Srpska in Bosnia make the country an important factor in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s ongoing constitutional and political crisis. Serbia’s growing ties with Russia and China also impact the broader strategic and security environment in the Western Balkans.

Biofuels contribute to America’s energy DOMINANCE+lower energy costs I introd a bipart bill w Sen Klobuchar 2 extend a key tax credit 4 small biodiesel producers so they can keep powering America
BUTLER COUNTY, IOWA – U.S. Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) introduced the bipartisan Small Agri-Biodiesel Producer Credit Extension Act to extend a key tax credit that supports small biodiesel producers, family farmers and the rural communities they sustain across America. The legislation would extend the Small Agri-Biodiesel Producer Credit, which is currently scheduled to expire at the end of 2026, through the end of 2029. “Biofuels support over 31,000 jobs across Iowa. They’re good for the rural economy, good for national security and good for the environment. This credit gives small biodiesel producers the certainty they need to plan investments in rural communities and to create or maintain good paying jobs while doing their part to lower prices at the pump through increased fuel production,” Grassley said. “With the war in Iran impacting fuel prices across the country, we must continue to invest in homegrown biofuels that strengthen our energy independence, support our farmers, bolster rural economies, and lower fuel prices,” Klobuchar said. “By extending this tax credit, farmers and small biodiesel producers will have the certainty they need to continue manufacturing biofuels and strengthening commodity markets.” The legislation is endorsed by Clean Fuels Alliance America, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, and Western Iowa Energy in Wall Lake. “Small biodiesel producers are making an outsized contribution to America’s energy security right now, providing lower-cost drop-in distillate fuel that’s needed to move consumer goods across the country. They are investing in rural communities, creating and preserving jobs, and running full out to provide cleaner, better, more affordable fuel. We thank Senators Grassley and Klobuchar for proposing to extend the Small Agri-Biodiesel Producer Credit and providing policy certainty for small producers across the country,” said Kurt Kovarik, Vice President of Federal Affairs at Clean Fuels Alliance America. “Small biodiesel producers are an important part of Iowa’s rural economy, and they need certainty to keep investing and producing,” said Monte Shaw, executive director of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association. “This extension gives Iowa producers the runway they need to keep turning Iowa-grown feedstocks into homegrown fuel, supporting farmers and strengthening rural communities.” “The Small Agri-Biodiesel Producer Credit has been a crucial lifeline for biodiesel producers as they respond to the nation’s demand for affordable, cleaner diesel fuels. Western Iowa Energy is running at full capacity to meet the Trump administration’s goal of massively increasing domestic production of renewable fuel to improve America’s energy security. Extension of the small producer credit will help us maintain production and local jobs in our community,” said Brad Wilson, President and General Manager of Western Iowa Energy. Click HERE for text of the legislation. Background: The Working Families Tax Cuts Act temporarily extended the Small Agri-Biodiesel Producer Credit to 2026. Under the credit, eligible small producers can receive a 20-cent-per-gallon tax credit on the first 15 million gallons of qualifying agri-biodiesel. To qualify, a producer must have a productive capacity of no more than 60 million gallons.
