The only way the war in Ukraine will end is if Putin gets serious about negotiating, and that’s not going to happen so long as he keeps playing President Trump like a fiddle. https://t.co/UlewQCtwYW
Soaring oil prices due to @POTUS’ Iran war are leading too many to fall behind on their home heating bills. Families cannot afford another winter of high utility bills, but that’s exactly what they are facing because of this Administration’s actions. https://t.co/SQ7uu4vRXw
As the weather gets colder, no Granite Stater should have to worry about being able to afford to keep their home warm this winter. To help families pay for their utility bills, applications for home heating assistance are now open⬇️ https://t.co/oQJHsnQcj3

Americans shouldn't have to pay more than $35 a month for the insulin they need to survive. I’m continuing to push to get my bipartisan INSULIN Act across the finish line and lower costs for families. https://t.co/5TePUMctk8
Live streaming an execution is an abhorrent act straight from the playbook of our adversaries, like Iran and the Taliban. This spectacle has no place in our nation and should offend all Americans. Pete Hegseth is a stain on our nation and needs to go.
New Hampshire’s small businesses deserve the resources they need to grow and thrive. I’m proud to have helped secure over $2 million in Congressionally Directed Spending to expand access to advising, training and other key resources to power our Granite State business owners. https://t.co/6lzD1s1Ker
The state you live in shouldn’t determine whether you can afford the insulin you need to live. By capping monthly insulin costs at $35 a month, my INSULIN Act would ensure that's never the case. With broad bipartisan support, the time is now to get my legislation passed. https://t.co/S5LekezdCG
No Granite Stater should ever face homelessness because of the Trump Administration's incompetence. That's why I led our delegation in calling on @HUDgov to take action immediately to restore funding that housing organizations in our state rely on⬇️ https://t.co/0Iz6Ufak6m
(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Co-Chair of the U.S. Senate Diabetes Caucus, today released a new video highlighting the importance of passing her INSULIN Act and revealing that 27 states currently do not have a $35 cap on monthly insulin costs. Shaheen then underscores that passage of her bill is a step Congress could take to immediately lower health care costs and protect Americans, regardless of the state they live in, from being forced to pay thousands of dollars a year for their life-saving insulin. Click HERE to watch the full video. Key Quotes from Senator Shaheen: “In the richest nation on Earth, no American should have to choose between affording groceries for their families or the insulin they need to survive. Unfortunately, as I’ve heard from too many students, families and health care providers […] this is happening every day.” “While some states have already taken steps to cap insulin costs at $35 or less, most haven’t. That means Americans in states such as South Dakota, Wyoming and Pennsylvania could be forced to pay thousands of dollars a year for the insulin they need to stay alive.” “Diabetes is a condition that touches the lives of so many Americans across the country, and the state you live in shouldn’t determine whether you can afford your life-saving insulin.” Shaheen’s bipartisan Improving Needed Safeguards for Users of Lifesaving Insulin Now (INSULIN) Act would cap monthly out-of-pocket insulin costs at $35 a month for Americans with insurance, expanding the effective price cap for Americans on Medicare. Shaheen has championed efforts to lower insulin costs throughout her time in office, and the bill is closer than ever before to passing out of the U.S. Senate. In July, the INSULIN Act advanced out of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, and in September companion legislation was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. Shaheen’s newest video comes as lawmakers on both sides of the aisle continue to point to the INSULIN Act as an immediate step Congress can take to lower costs for millions. Senator Shaheen has worked tirelessly to lower health care costs for Granite Staters and Americans. As co-chair of the U.S. Senate Diabetes Caucus, Senator Shaheen has consistently pressed to hold insulin manufacturers, insurers and pharmacy benefit managers accountable for the skyrocketing cost of life-saving insulin and otherwise support patients and families facing diabetes. Polling released from the American Diabetes Association this summer found that 40% of respondents who rely on insulin report paying more than $150 per month for insulin, and 76% of respondents across political parties support a $35 limit on cost sharing for insulin. ###

Investing in energy efficiency is a commonsense way to lower costs for families, create jobs and help protect our environment. I’m proud that the Senate once again passed my bipartisan resolution marking today as Energy Efficiency Day. https://t.co/Gtj9f7cZNT
Today marks 10 years since my Survivors’ Bill of Rights Act was signed into law, establishing the first-ever federally codified rights for survivors of sexual assault. I'll never stop fighting to ensure survivors are treated with the respect they deserve. https://t.co/plQyreYK8m
(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) applauded the unanimous Senate passage of her bipartisan resolution to designate today, October 7, 2026, as Energy Efficiency Day. Amid ongoing attacks by the Trump Administration on energy efficiency initiatives that lower costs, this resolution celebrates and promotes the economic and environmental benefits gained from investing in energy efficiency. “Energy efficiency is one of the most effective tools we have to help Granite State families save money, support good-paying jobs and build a cleaner energy future,” said Senator Shaheen. “With diesel prices at historic highs and energy costs rising as a direct result of the President’s war in Iran, I’m proud to continue fighting to protect energy efficiency initiatives and am pleased the Senate came together to pass this bipartisan resolution recognizing Energy Efficiency Day and reaffirming its importance.” The text of the resolution can be read HERE. The resolution is co-led by Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) and cosponsored by U.S. Senators Chris Coons (D-DE), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Jack Reed (D-RI), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Peter Welch (D-VT), Angus King (I-ME), Tina Smith (D-MN), Ron Wyden (D-OR), Richard Durbin (D-IL), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Ed Markey (D-MA), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Mark Warner (D-VA), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), John Hickenlooper (D-CO) and Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE). Throughout her time in Congress, Shaheen has championed efforts to advance energy efficiency, lower energy costs for Granite Staters and support clean energy initiatives. Recently, Shaheen joined a bipartisan group of Senators in urging the Trump Administration to swiftly release funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which can be used to address emergency heating needs and weatherize homes against the elements. More than 57,000 Granite Staters rely on LIHEAP to help pay their home heating bills. Earlier this year, Shaheen introduced bipartisan legislation to ensure funding from the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and State Energy Program is distributed without delay to state agencies and local partners that implement cost-saving energy initiatives. Shaheen was also a key supporter of the Inflation Reduction Act and a lead negotiator of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, legislation that made landmark investments in energy efficiency and reducing home energy bills. In the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Shaheen helped secure $3.5 billion in additional funding for WAP, including $18 million for New Hampshire. ###
**The Shaheen-authored law created the first federally codified rights for sexual assault survivors and is the cornerstone of a career-long effort to support survivors** (Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, marked 10 years since her groundbreaking Sexual Assault Survivors’ Rights Act, also known as the Survivors’ Bill of Rights, was signed into law by former President Barack Obama in 2016. The law created the first-ever federally codified rights specifically for sexual assault survivors, allowing survivors the opportunity to enforce those rights in federal court. “More than a decade ago, I met with a young woman whose horrific story and struggle for justice and accountability helped launch an effort to reform how sexual assault survivors are treated in our criminal justice system. No person should ever have to wonder if they will be treated fairly after reporting a sexual assault, and it was that aim that led me to craft the Survivors' Bill of Rights,” said Senator Shaheen. “After this historic legislation was passed by Congress and signed into law, I was proud to continue working across the aisle to make sure the legal system works for, not against, survivors by expanding the protections in the Survivors’ Bill of Rights to apply to all states. Make no mistake, there is still so much more we need to do to change the culture around how sexual assault survivors are treated and to prevent harassment and assault from happening in the first place. Even as my time in the Senate comes to an end, I will keep fighting to ensure survivors are heard and treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.” The Sexual Assault Survivors’ Rights Act was inspired by a meeting with sexual assault survivor Amanda Nguyen and was shaped by input from dozens of nationally recognized experts in the sexual assault advocacy community. Specifically, the Survivors’ Bill of Rights addresses the unique challenges faced by sexual assault survivors, particularly regarding notice, access and preservation of sexual assault evidence collection kits. Shaheen and Senator Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) bipartisan Survivors’ Bill of Rights in the States Act was signed into law as part of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 national defense authorization legislation, and built on the success of Shaheen’s initial legislation by ensuring that all survivors across the country, not just those in federal cases, are protected. Throughout her career in the Senate, Shaheen has been an unyielding champion of efforts to establish basic rights and protections for survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence (IPV). Recently, Shaheen introduced new, bipartisan legislation, the Military Sexual Trauma Accountability Act, that would help service members who have experienced sexual assault or harassment over the course of their service hold the government accountable. Shaheen also leads the bipartisan, bicameral Protect Moms from Domestic Violence Act, which would protect the health and well-being of pregnant persons who have experienced IPV, and the Fair Housing for Survivors Act, which would enhance safety measures for people who have experienced IPV and sexual assault by providing them with fair housing protections. As a senior member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee and former Chair of the Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee, Shaheen has continually worked to boost services and resources for survivors. In the bipartisan FY 2026 government funding legislation, Shaheen secured $10 million for continued implementation of her Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights grant program, which encourages states to ensure that survivors have, at minimum, the rights guaranteed to them under federal law, including the right to be provided a medical forensic examination without charge, to have a sexual assault evidence collection kit kept for 20 years or the statute of limitations and to be fully informed about the result of testing a kit. ###
With affordable early education out of reach for too many, we should be strengthening Head Start. Instead, the Trump Administration is weakening standards and jeopardizing services that have successfully served children and families for over 50 years. https://t.co/rDXB16oY1f

During Mental Illness Awareness Week, we must continue to shed light on our nation’s mental health crisis and fight for more resources and better access to treatments so that all Americans can get the care they need.
(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) helped introduce the bicameral Affordability is Access Act, which would require insurers to fully cover over-the-counter birth control without any fees or out-of-pocket costs, once it is Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved. The introduction comes as the Trump Administration continues its senseless attacks on reproductive care, family planning and contraception, including moves to cancel teen pregnancy prevention grants, attempts to decimate Title X and the U.S. State Department’s extremist decision to falsely label birth control products as abortifacients. “As the Trump Administration continues its relentless efforts to strip women of our bodily autonomy and limit access to basic reproductive health care, we must do all we can to increase access to contraception and family planning methods,” said Senator Shaheen. “Our legislation would build on successful provisions in the Affordable Care Act that have made birth control more readily available by ensuring over-the-counter options are also available at no cost.” Under the Affordable Care Act, all private health insurance plans are required to fully cover – without copays or out-of-pocket costs – prescribed FDA-approved, granted or cleared methods of contraception. The Affordability is Access Act would change this to apply to over-the-counter birth control that women can get without a prescription. The Affordability is Access Act would also maintain the FDA’s sole authority to determine the safety and efficacy of drugs and make them available over the counter without a prescription and ensure retailers provide contraception without a prescription. The legislation states that any retailer that stocks contraception that the FDA has approved, granted or cleared without a prescription may not interfere with a consumer’s access to or purchase of such contraception. The bill text can be read HERE. Senator Shaheen is an unrelenting advocate for women’s reproductive rights. Shaheen is a longtime cosponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act which would guarantee a woman’s right to access an abortion free from medically unnecessary restrictions that interfere with a patient’s individual choice or the provider-patient relationship. Shaheen has also joined her Senate colleagues in opposing Senate Republicans’ effort to restrict access to reproductive health care, including their push last year to pass legislation that would have significantly interfered with the doctor-patient relationship and posed unnecessary and harmful obstacles to a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her reproductive health. For years, Shaheen has fought to expand coverage of women’s preventative care, including through her legislation to reduce the cost of contraception for servicewomen and dependents in military families. ###
