In Idaho, 34 of our 44 counties rely on the Secure Rural Schools program to maintain local roads, support emergency services and fund public education. My bipartisan bill extends SRS for three years to ensure these communities receive the reliable federal support they are owed. I will keep fighting to provide lasting certainty for Idaho’s rural counties.

Idahoans value our public lands and the incredible outdoor recreation opportunities they provide every day. That is why I support the America the Beautiful Act, to address deferred maintenance backlogs and ensure proper stewardship of our national treasures. I continue to advocate for sound, fiscally responsible policies that preserve reasonable public access to our natural resources for generations to come.
Since coming to Capitol Hill, I have made combating cancer a top legislative priority. The MCED Screening Coverage Act is a game changer that will help detect cancer when it is most treatable, improving survival rates and lowering costs for patients and providers. https://t.co/ahelxdPsLT
Idaho’s farmers work long hours through every season to feed, clothe and fuel our nation and world. From potatoes and barley to dairy and cattle, Idaho farmers proudly produce the diverse agricultural products our for which our state is known. On National Farmer’s Day, I express my profound gratitude to the hardworking families who form our state's agricultural economy and heritage.
Participation in sports equips young women with invaluable life lessons in discipline, teamwork, leadership and confidence. I co-sponsored the resolution designating American Girls in Sports Day to honor our female athletes and ensure Title IX protections remain intact, so biological women and girls compete on a fair, safe and level playing field. I will continue standing up for female athletes across Idaho and our nation as they strive for excellence on and off the field. https://t.co/y9KB6mvTU4
Mental health is an essential part of overall well-being, yet too many individuals and families face challenges in silence. On World Mental Health Day, we recommit to expanding access to care, reducing stigma and supporting those in need. If you or a loved one are struggling, know that support is available—reach out, check on your neighbors and remember that help is always within reach. https://t.co/u5VaSPRs5N
Honored to be named to @NSSF’s 2026 Dean’s List for achieving a 100-percent voting and co-sponsorship record in defense of our Second Amendment rights! Safeguarding the constitutional freedoms of law-abiding Idahoans, supporting our firearm industry and protecting America's heritage of hunting and recreational shooting will always remain a top priority of mine. Idahoans can count on me to continue fighting for our outdoor traditions and constitutional liberties in the 119th Congress.
Idaho’s 4-H programs empower young people across our state with essential skills in agriculture, leadership, STEM and civic responsibility. I am proud to co-sponsor the resolution designating National 4-H Week to celebrate the incredible mentors, parents and youth who embody the motto of making the best better. Investing in our 4-H leaders today ensures a bright and prosperous future for Idaho’s agricultural heritage.
I agree with the @dcexaminer’s recent editorial highlighting how the Trump Administration’s CAFE standards reset will make cars more affordable for working families. By restoring market-driven choices and curbing bureaucratic overreach, this move—alongside my RAAM Act—trusts consumers, rather than federal bureaucrats, to choose the vehicles that best fit their lives and budgets.
Our law enforcement officers work tirelessly to keep our neighborhoods safe. Building strong, trusting relationships with the communities they serve is key to public safety. I am proud to co-lead the Senate Resolution recognizing National Community Policing Week and honoring the officers and neighborhood leaders working together across Idaho to protect our families. Thank you to all law enforcement who serve and foster connection in our communities.
President Trump’s Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards reset is a major affordability win that stops federal overreach and is projected to lower the cost of a new vehicle by $1,300 for American families. By eliminating punitive Biden-era mandates and advancing my Restoring Affordability in Automobile Manufacturing Act, we can protect consumer choice and put hardworking taxpayers back in the driver's seat.
Without clear rules of the road, college sports risk being dominated by only a handful of the wealthiest programs—endangering small and mid-sized athletic departments, Olympic sports and women's programs. Every major university in Idaho supports the Protect College Sports Act of 2026 to establish uniform national standards for Name, Image and Likeness compensation and bring stability to college athletics. I am hopeful that the House will join us in passing this critical, bipartisan legislation to ensure a fair playing field for student-athletes and schools across the country.
I joined a bipartisan coalition of colleagues to introduce legislation reauthorizing the Secure Rural Schools program for three years. Counties home to non-taxable federal lands deserve financial stability to support critical community needs. This three-year extension provides rural Idaho with a predictable foundation for budget planning as we work toward a permanent funding solution.
Washington, D.C.—The Working Families Tax Cuts are helping Americans gain the skills needed to succeed in the workplace. The law expands support for workforce development programs and education, making it easier for Americans to pursue the training, skills and credentials that best fit their career goals and open doors to new opportunities. The law’s pro-growth tax policies are also encouraging business investment, strengthening the economy and creating good-paying jobs, helping to ensure students, trainees and workers have opportunities to put their new skills to use. “Americans should have more opportunities to pursue the education and training that prepare them to succeed in the workforce,” said U.S. Senate Finance Chairman Mike Crapo (R-Idaho). “Whether Idahoans plan to enter a skilled trade, pursue a college degree or both, the Working Families Tax Cuts are making it easier for them to develop the skills that employers need and pursue rewarding careers.” Key wins: Qualified workforce development programs and vocational education are now eligible 529 plan expenses Permanent tax exclusion of up to $5,250 per year for employers that help repay their employees’ student loans Permanent full expensing for machinery and equipment Permanent immediate deductibility for domestic R&D expenses Full expensing for near-term investments in factories and factory improvements What they are saying: “The expansion of Section 529 plans to include skilled trade schools is another big win for the industry. [Associated Builders and Contractors] recently estimated that the construction industry needs to attract 349,000 net new workers in 2026 to meet demand for construction services. Allowing 529 funds to be used for these programs helps the next generation access the education and hands-on training needed to enter the workforce.” – Eric Seidman, Partner, Wouch Maloney & Co. What an incredible finish in Moscow! @Idaho_Vandals showed true grit with a late touchdown and two-point conversion to end Montana State’s 19-game win streak. Proud of our Vandal football team for leaving it all on the field!
Washington, D.C.--To commemorate the end of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, U.S. Senators Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Cory Booker (D-New Jersey) led introduction of a Senate Resolution to recognize September as National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. The resolution also encourages all Americans to take part in efforts to increase early detection, improve treatment and discover more breakthroughs for the disease, which has a 99 percent survival rate if caught in the earliest stage. “Routine health screenings contribute to early prostate cancer detection,” said Senator Crapo. “Treatment is most effective when caught early. I encourage all men to discuss screening options with their health care provider and educate themselves further about early detection.” "Prostate cancer is one of the most treatable cancers when it's caught early, yet too many men aren't getting screened in time, and the toll falls especially hard on Black men, who are more likely to be diagnosed with and die from the disease," said Senator Booker. "Early detection saves lives. I urge every man to talk with his doctor about screening, and I'm grateful to Senator Crapo for partnering with me on this resolution to raise awareness and advance the research that will lead to better outcomes." "Prostate Cancer Awareness Month serves as a vital call to action, urging men to know their risk, seek early detection, and explore the treatment options that can save their lives," said Courtney Bugler, President and CEO of ZERO Prostate Cancer. "We are incredibly grateful to Senator Crapo and Senator Booker for their unwavering dedication to this cause. Their leadership continues to drive meaningful progress in awareness, research, and support for the men and families navigating this disease. As we mark another Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, we are proud to stand with them and our champions in Congress, not just this month, but every day, as we press forward in our mission to ensure no man faces prostate cancer alone." Additional co-sponsors of the resolution include Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and Chris Van Hollen (D-Maryland). Prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men in the United States. One in eight men in the United States will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetimes, and one in 44 men in the United States will die from the disease. Read the full Resolution HERE. ###
During Religious Education Week, we celebrate the faith leaders, educators and families who instill moral values, wisdom and faith in our youth. Religious education plays a vital role in shaping strong character, fostering community and preserving our nation's foundational principles of religious freedom. Thank you to all who dedicate themselves to guiding and inspiring the next generation.
America must lead the world in artificial intelligence, but everyday families should not have to pay for the massive power grids and infrastructure required by big tech data centers. I voted to advance the Ratepayer Protection Act to ensure large-load customers pay their fair share for energy upgrades, keeping electricity bills affordable for Idaho families and local businesses. We can power American innovation while still protecting working families from bearing the cost. It’s unfortunate Senate Democrats failed to join us in advancing this important bill the House had already passed 417-3. https://t.co/KgD6ORdGKX

The Senate unanimously passed a resolution officially recognizing National Forensic Science Week, celebrating the dedicated professionals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to seek truth and deliver justice. From processing evidence to deploying advanced technologies, forensic experts across Idaho and our nation provide the critical analysis needed to solve complex cases and protect our communities. I am proud to join my colleagues in honoring their extraordinary service and commitment to public safety.

Museums and national collections across the country hold incredible artifacts that showcase Idaho’s rich history, from Native American heritage and military heroism to industrial innovation and prehistoric fossils. Whether it is WWII Marine ace Pappy Boyington’s Corsair plane or the 3-million-year-old Hagerman Horse fossils, these treasures highlight our state’s vital role in shaping the American story. I encourage every Idahoan to take pride in our shared heritage and explore these remarkable pieces of our state's legacy.
Washington, D.C. –The U.S. Senate unanimously approved a Senate resolution designating September 20-26, 2026, as National Forensic Science Week. U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) introduced the resolution to honor the role forensic science plays in administering justice, holding offenders accountable and exonerating the innocent. “Forensic science practitioners, researchers and administrators do important work every day to help ensure justice is served and the truth comes to light,” said Crapo. “National Forensic Science Week is an opportunity to thank these dedicated professionals, including the outstanding men and women at the Idaho State Police Forensic Services Laboratories, the Boise City Police Crime Laboratory, the Nampa City Police Crime Laboratory, the Canyon County Crime Laboratory, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Science Laboratory and at coroner offices all over Idaho the for the skill, care and integrity they bring to their work on behalf of our communities.” “The State of Idaho is an important contributor to the criminal justice system through internationally recognized work in many forensic science fields. National Forensic Science Week is a time to celebrate the exceptional professionals working in this field, the outstanding work they accomplish, and the commitment they have to solving crimes and strengthening the criminal justice system in Idaho, said Matthew Gamette, Idaho State Police Forensic Services Laboratory System Director. “Senator Crapo is an ardent supporter of forensic science work in the United States and specifically in Idaho. We appreciate all of his efforts and specifically this recognition that we celebrate this week.” The resolution is co-sponsored by Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and Peter Welch (D-Vermont).
I joined Senators @RonWyden, @SenatorRisch and @SenJeffMerkley to introduce legislation that would reauthorize the Secure Rural Schools program through a three-year extension. This critical program helps fulfill the federal government’s obligation to forested counties by funding schools, roads and emergency response projects. We remain committed to delivering stability for rural families across Idaho and the West.
