Born February 2, 1996, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he first won office in a 2019 special election following the death of Ezequiel Santiago, taking office on May 13, 2019, at age 23. Before his election, he worked on numerous local and statewide campaigns, including for Governor Dannel Malloy, Congressman Jim Himes, Senator Chris Murphy, and Governor Ned Lamont, and served as a field coordinator for former State Senator Andres Ayala and former Mayor Bill Finch.
