Lakesia Collins is an American union organizer and Democratic politician serving in the Illinois Senate for the 5th district, on the West Side of Chicago, since August 16, 2023, when she was appointed to replace retiring incumbent Patricia Van Pelt. She previously served in the Illinois House of Representatives for the 9th district from 2020 to 2023, having won the Democratic primary in 2020 and been appointed to fill the seat vacated by retiring incumbent Art Turner before winning election to full terms in 2020 and 2022. She also served as Treasurer of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus.
