James Skoufis is an American politician who has represented the 42nd District of the New York State Senate as a Democrat since 2023. Born October 18, 1987, in Flushing, he attended Monroe-Woodbury High School before earning degrees from George Washington University and Columbia University. He began his political career on the Woodbury town board in Orange County, then was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2012, becoming its youngest member at age 25, and was re-elected in 2014 and 2016.
