The Winner
Rep. Brian Mast ran the easiest race of his political career Tuesday. The Florida Republican won his party's primary for the 21st Congressional District without facing a single challenger, capturing 100% of the vote on August 18.
Mast's uncontested victory sets him up well for November. The district leans heavily Republican, rated Solid Republican as of mid-August, and prediction markets give him a commanding 90% chance of winning the general election.
The Election
The broader race for the seat is far more competitive. Eight candidates are vying for the 21st District overall, but only Mast appeared on the Republican primary ballot. Those eight candidates have raised a combined $8.3 million so far.
Mast is seeking re-election to the seat he currently holds. He'll face Democratic opposition in the fall, though the GOP's structural advantage in the district makes him the clear favorite.
